The reality was that he was likely deemed not good enough to play ahead of the players that are already at the club. And for a young player in his formative years it's best to move and try and get regular games to further your own development as a player. There was a time when we held on to young players for far too long instead of moving them on quickly. The likes of Garner and a few others were moved on quickly and I feel that's the right thing to do with buy backs or sell-ons.
And like I mentioned in my previous post, the formation currently requires explosive outlets outwide and I don't believe Fernandez provides that. Our build up play from the back is still a issue due to the midfield not having progressive qualities to a high enough level as well as not having the ability to contain space against the opponent's quick transition. So I believe having explosiveness on the wing adds to our quick build up play where we bypass the midfield and get the ball forward quickly with the players outwide stretching the pitch horizontally which opens the space centrally for the two attacking midfielders to thrive. That threat doesn't exist at the moment and maybe Dorgu could be someone who may develop into that player for us because it seems he has the physical and athletic capabilities to be coached into that type of threat.
That’s where Murtough should veto and do his job. We didn’t have Mazraoui in January, so that leaves one right back available at left back and he was needed at right back, so we played out of position players there instead. Awful management from both of them.
I think Fab reported we offered €27m then increased it to €30m, which is approximately £23m and £25m, so far the club never offered the £27m.

After looking at the stats and watching him play for Benfica this season, Alvaro looks pretty explosive to me. He’s good at running past players.
I’ll leave it there in regards to Dorgu. To me Alvaro seems like the far more logical option but he could still end up being a good fit for Amorim. I’ll be excited to see what he’s made of if he does sign.
27 goals in 22 EPL games. At this point, I don't care if he can play any defense. With the 3 CB's who can cover defensively, United needs more attacking out of the wingback position. As long as he can add to the attack, while being passable on defense, I'm fine. Only concern-- pace.

And seemingly haven’t shown interest since. It’s almost worrying that we are still bothering to negotiate as it would suggest Chelsea and Spurs don’t value him at the quoted fee.
Wouldn’t be surprised if we are already on our Plan C / 3rd choice of target and are now in a difficult position scrambling to get any deal done as per.

Yeah I hear that. Although, if we can become a more cohesive side, I think we will rely more on cut backs than quality crosses.

Yeah I’m 100% sure. Ronaldo is the only example where we have sold a player we wanted to keep. To allow him to move we got a world record fee and Sir Alex persuaded him to stay another season in 2008.
Ye that might be because he’s the only player that we turned world class or teams wanted. Football nowadays is all about profit. If we sign Dorku for 30m and someone comes in for him in a few years for over 50m then he’ll be gone.
He’s a decent lad, but that’s all he his. His knowledge of football doesn’t come from a professional capacity like being a trained scout, he’s trying to hype up his sports journalism career (which he seems to be good at). We shouldn’t hold hos take in any more serious regard as any other Twitter accounts, just because it has good graphics.
I think an experienced premier league proven player we could pick up for cheap would be useful for solidity over the next 3-4 years. There’s a good chance Amass or Leon come through in that time, and if they don’t and we’re not happy with KWP, we’d have a player that cost us next to nothing with some sell on value.
And yes, having somebody up front who can score/create goals will be beneficial to the team. For me, more so than a potentially mild upgrade at LWB, which is what I think the difference may be between Dorgu and KWP.

There's no suggestion Alvaro wants to come back at this point. He's doing well where he is and finally pushing on.
Amoriums system is very very reliable on attack minded wing backs that can run to form a back 5 or front 5 on demand. We look so poor because we have no one who can do this.
(The 2 10s also do the same but that's less of an issue than the LWB).
Why people keep overlooking this or recommending unsuitable players I don't know.
He's the most suitable player availible, yes there will be a Jan tax on it, but this is the biggest problem to solve and solving it now before everyone loses faith is worth the extra.

Exactly - he will be an instant upgrade on whoever we are forced to play in a role that doesn’t suit them.

This is the reason we’ve had our best performances under Amorim with Amad at RWB. Not because that’s his best position, but because he’s the only player in our squad who can do remotely close to what Amorim wants from a wingback.
People pointing out we're lacking athleticism at the wing back positions, do you regard Dalot as a poor athlete? He's pretty much running up and down the wing all game, isn't he?

Imagine the difference of being able to do it on both sides.
The difference is Dalot is not rapid and does not run past players, Dorgu is rapid and at the least tries to run past players
Yep, we absolutely need to sign players with that profile - size, pace, power (on top of the technical profile, of course). Our squad severely lacks those characteristics compared to other top teams - hell, in the EPL, it's probably lacking those traits compared to just about every other team.
