Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

Not too concerned about the mistakes. Can happen for a young player. There was a bit of misfortune about the red, as his foot seemed to slide off the ball onto the leg - still a rash challenge though.

Think there is some quality there. Gets up and down the pitch nicely, and handles the ball well.

Really annoyed we will miss him for three games.

He'll learn. Just hope he doesn't dwell on it too much- i like his aggression normally and we need that.

Unfortunate for him. But maybe it isn't the worst thing to take some time out of the pressure zone and get more used to the environment. I like him and am confident, he'll be able to be a good player for us. Today I found the positioning a little odd though, it seemed as if Garnacho was wider than Dorgu a couple of times and also the they blocked each others paths once or twice.
Think that's the instruction as it always happens with Garnacho. It allows him to stay wide instead

The red was an unlucky mistimed challenge but what the feck was he thinking for the first goal. The 3 games out of the spotlight will do him good.

It was a Red but he was unlucky. it wasn't a high challenge but he still got a lot of his shin.

Shame - was playing good and our left side was quite good.

He was a fraction out with his timing, he got the top of the ball but it was a red

Agree with the consensus over the red.
Clear sending off but I don’t think it was malicious.
Got the ball first and just wasn’t in control.
Some promising signs for sure

Probably not been here long enough to realise that we have an absolute clown in goals and to expect the unexpected (ie: look up). Speaking of which I seen Ipswich taking a corner in the second half while the same clown was standing off the pitch drinking out of his water bottle.

The colour of the kit isn't the issue, the issue was Dorgu not looking before he played the pass.
The issue was Onana’s dedication to his vow of silence.
No blame on dorgu for that at all, keeper must control that situation

You can see in the replay that he only looks at Onana early on in the move, he's more preoccupied with making sure nobody was near him. So when he plays the ball he plays it blind thinking that Onana wouldn't have come. You can tell by where he was passing it too. I think Onana was either going to try and catch the ball, thinking that Dorgu was going to block the runner behind. Or he was going to smash the ball into the crowd? But Onana can see the Ipswich player so surely he'd call Dorgu to tell him to leave it. It's bizarre.

All I can think of is that Dorgu is preoccupied and keeping an eye on the ball to ensure he can pass it cleanly to the keeper without knowing Onana was right next to him, which means either he didn't hear Onana call out, or Onana didn't call out at all. The frustrating part is that he had that completely under control too, there was no reason for Onana to come out like that. Very strange all round.

Yeah, certainly it is instructed. Don't know if I like it though. I mean, I get that Garnacho wants to get away from the areas that are congested but there needs to be one in there. If Dorgu goes on to occupy those areas, thats fine to me but it seemed that he sticked deeper but still wide.

Needs to look and not play the ball blind. Yes Onana is reckless but Dorgu is not blameless there.

Horrible tackle.

It's easy to understand why he played the pass he did - before the ball bounced he saw Onana stood centrally waiting for the pass, I don't think anybody expected Onana to run like a madman to the edge of the box after the ball bounced, it was utterly bizarre.

Dorgu gets some blame for not looking up before passing, but with a predictable, reliable keeper that goal doesn't happen.

Yeah a few seconds of madness shouldn’t overshadow the good things he is bringing to the team.

United have had a left side somewhat functioning in the last 2 games…which is very high praise considering the shitshow the left has been all season long.

great thinking from him. a back’s against the wall, against all odds win, is exactly the kind of thing that might kick-start our title challenge.

Guarantee referees will have his number as a clumsy, reckless player now and he will only have to touch another player to get a card.

So you're happy for our players to continue to not look at where they're passing the ball, strange but OK.
Any remotely sane goalkeeper stays in the 6 yard box and communicates. Or steams out and clears everything and communicates.
Dorgu obviously not attuned to having to deal with a complete disaster zone in nets. Probably hasn’t had to handle that since u10 football.
Personally I attach zero blame to Dorgu for that. It’s all on Onana

Absolutely not at fault for the opening goal. Had full control on cover and no need for Onana to rush out to him.
Ya but he was at fault though. So was Onana for coming out but Dorgu has possession and doesn’t look at Onana which leads to the goal.

Before the red he was excellent. You can actually see a bit how this system could work. And believe me, I haven't uttered that sentence recently.

We need another Dorgu on the other side as it all breaks down going forwards with Dalot on that side.

Quenda would be transformative to our build up

0/10 performance according to some..

2 massive mistakes, but yeh i actually thought he was doing great. Definitely an indication of what he can contribute.

Wouldn't worry too much about the mistakes, he was unlucky with the red and is adding qualities to the team we didn't have. Shame he's missing for the next 3 games.

Quenda and a CF will make us look a lot different in my opinion. Improvement in CB/CM/10 and I think we’ll be cooking.

We're not signing 5 starters bro.

Very obviously both at fault. Onana is the senior player though and not to mention he has the full picture of what's going on. Should have either been screaming at Dorgu to leave it or he should have stepped off and been available for the pass back. He did neither.

I thought he was fraction late on tackle, do think he was unlucky.
I don't think he meant to "do" Hutchinson but it was a very poor challenge. He'll need to learn that even bottom of the table teams in the PL will have players with super quick feet, he needs to be careful putting his foot in like that. Mistime it by a split second and you're heading down the tunnel.

Thought he was poor overall , at fault for the goal and an absolute shocker of a tackle. Got into good positions but the less said about his crossing the better .
Fair summary.

Yeah that interaction with Onana and the red card were big mistakes and hope he learns from that, but he was actually playing well going forward and I like his playing with Yoro and Garnacho on the left the little he played today. We will miss him on the games he is not gonna be available.

I think Onana had a lot of to do on that mistake for the first goal with going forward so fast like the way he did, but his pass was poor to.

Nice to see so many allowing some him some grace with today’s match. Mistakes happen and hopefully he learns from it. Imagine the state of this place if this was Garnacho however.

Shared blame with Onana for the first goal, and was guilty of recklessness in earning the red; other than that, I thought he looked good. He'll learn from these mistakes.

Can't hide under Oanan's shadow for the first goal. Both them were equally responsible for the feck-up. I thought the red was more unfortunate. It happens in a football game and I wouldn't want him beaten down for it.

Other than that, he looks like a good player. He'll learn and grow.

Red was fair to be honest.

I thought Onana was more at fault for the first goal.

He actually played pretty decently aside from these

This was my thought. Not great for the team bc he's looked good for our current standards, but the guy is 20 and has just made a huge move with a lot of pressure, and currently piling up a bunch of full 90 minute appearances. At least now he can take it in a little and learn a bit. He'll be playing in the Europa matches so it's not like he'll be short of games.

I don't want to take the blame away from Dorgu for preferring to pass instead of taking the safer route but that was a crap show from Onana. Any half decent goalkeeper would have been vocal and commanded play - either for Dorgu to stay out or to clear. Onana preferred to do a ball watching instead. The guy's a ticking time bomb of Titus Bramble magnitude and needs to be thrown out of the team asap. He's making everyone in the team look like an idiot.
