Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

That’s a fair point. Looking at Amorim’s most recent Sporting side, he had a left-footed left wing-back and a left-footed right wing-back, which worked well for him. With Dorgu and Amad, we have that versatility, and with Quenda, we’ll have someone who can operate on both the left and right. I understand, though, that age could be a concern in terms of experience.
Yea, especially in combination with the league tempo, media pressure and physicality. Don't get me wrong. He's an absolutely fantastic player, but I feel as if we're making the same mistake as with Ten Hag by spending big money on a former Amorim player and not thinking it through. The only two Sporting players I wouldn't mind would be Gyokeres and Diomande.

Our best player in the first half. Bruno upped his game in the 2nd half and we look much better with him playing deeper

His crossing looks a bit iffy but he has plenty of time to get that right. Like others have said, it's nice to have a player with energy and he seems pretty good at short passes and quick one-twos.

Only player to come out of the first half with any real credit, him and Bruno had some decent interplay down the left. Garnacho should maybe play on the opposite side because he continued to ignore Dorgu's overlapping runs pretty much every time after coming on.

One of the few players, first half especially that actually wasn’t horrendous, it’s a sad state that a young player newly bought in January shows more determination and play than some of our established players.

Rasmus is no athlete. He doesn't win duels and has no pace. Garnacho is still a kid so a bit harsh to judge him but hopefully he gets stronger. Dalot is ok, nothing special but he does have enough to survive(not thrive) in the PL
Højlund is very fast though. Had vvd on toast a couple of times, but his timing is trash.

Dalot is probably our fastest player…

What I really liked about Dorgu was his endless running. Him and Ugarte bring this quality. But I also saw some defensive flaws that he should work on.

Good energy and enthusiasm from him - it seems like he's adapting fairly quickly to the Prem which is promising. Nothing stellar to write home about at this point, but he's not been bad either. The bar at the club is so low right now for performances that unfortunately that makes him one of our key players.

That's why I'm so vocally against signing Quenda now. He'd be the perfect signing for 2026 if we have a bit more stability (hopefully).

The trouble is you can’t always be so picky on when you sign such talented young players. All it takes is another great season at Sporting and before you know it his price has increased beyond our means, other clubs go in for him instead and the opportunity is lost.

He knows Amorim’s system, plays a position we desperately need reinforcement in, and seems to offer the athleticism we’re badly missing. If Amorim really wants him and he’s available at a price we can afford then that’s enough for me.

Rasmus has pace to burn. We don’t utilise it

Hojlund turned 22 last week. Garnacho is 21 in July. Somehow one is just a kid

Decent outing. It's the same as any other player though, he'll come and look good and then it'll fall apart unless we keep improving around him, helping him and utilising his strengths, he'll peak and then regress or else he'll burn out and get injured. We put far too much pressure on young players shoulders as soon as they break into the team. It'll be fine when shaw is back for his few months and they can rotate at least but I suppose he'll go to LCB before he gets injured again

Finally a wingback. Pushing high and putting balls in and breaking behind. Hopefully if he keeps doing that others will realise where and what they need to do.

I think people underestimate how good he already is because we are such a mess as a team that it’s easy to dismiss. Him and possibly Quenda on the right would be incredible.

Thought he did well again. Good energy and physicality, and makes some decent runs going forward. Not afraid to put a cross in, even if the delivery isn’t spot on every time.

Has been a good acquisition so far.

I keep hearing this, but never actually see it.

If he is actually sub 11 seconds for the 100 metres then he'd likely be olympic standard if he could show this sort of speed over his first 20 metres.

that's the problem, he's quick in stride and not in acceleration. Useless unless you are playing counter attacking football from deep
