No chance of this happening so not worth discussing.

You can never be sure of anything in football to say 'no chance'. While it seems unlikely, PSG are easily rich enough to put in a real tempter of an offer. If as is reported, SAF is interested in Baines, and Evra wants to go to PSG, then i don't have to stretch my imagination too much to see something could happen.

Evra has taken some flak off certain Utd fans, and i don't think there would be a huge uproar if we we were to sell him as long as we brought in Baines.

He's a club legend is paddy, we don't just flog off our club legends when it's the "last chance to get some money" for them, especially not if they're still doing a great job.

I don't think that he's doing a great job though, sure he's much better than last season when he was horrible and is playing good, but not great. Also, I disagree with the legend concept, Scholes and Giggs are legend, Keano and Neville are legends, Rio probably, Evra I don't think so.

But yeah, selling it in January wouldn't be a good idea. In the summer, if he wants to leave to, why not.

So what happens if we did decide to sell him in January? Recall Fabio? Buy Baines? Play Buttner?

I would like the first option, to give Fabio a run of games before we decide to sign someone. Buttner hasn't convinced me at all, while Baines now is even more old than last year.

I think that we could have a big chance of asking this question in the summer.

You have to wonder if SAF has one eye on Ashley Cole there's been a few stories linking us with him and Rafa Benitez all but said Cole and Lampard will be leaving Chelsea in the summer. In Cole's case his contract is about to expire. Id obviously rather keep Evra but who knows what will happen.

Just wanted to point something out from a Eurosport article.

Friday's Independent reports that the big-spending Ligue 1 side are targeting the French left-back as they bid to reignite their flagging title campaign.

Evra is 31, and suspicions at Old Trafford persist that his best days are behind him. He is unpopular with Liverpool and Chelsea fans following his involvement in the Luis Suarez affair - though an FA report found him to be blameless - and a tussle with a Chelsea groundsman. He also led a French players' strike at the 2010 World Cup.

He grew up in the Parisian suburbs after moving from his birthplace in Senegal, and went on trial at PSG in the late 90s.

The Qatari-owned club will test United's resolve with a £5m bid that would also lighten United's wage bill to the tune of £90,000-a-week.

Do the staff at Eurosport really believe we care about those stuff.

Staying on topic, I don't think we should sell him unless he wants to go. He is still our best left back and he has another two seasons in him at the top of his game. A 5 million pound bid shouldn't make us lose our most valuable left back, especially with all the experience he has.

The fact that we ended up buying Buttner tells you how few top class left backs there are. Evra's not the player he was, but his form this season has been much better and £5m isn't nearly enough to make any sort difference to us. We'd have to spend a couple of times that anyway to get any sort of decent left back, who might not even be as good.

.

Disagree with everything there, paddy has been our left back through our most successful period ever, playing like Jesus for the majority of that time. Great lad, often skipper.. complete legend for me.

Playing brilliantly right now too, a great job this season.

He doesn't strike me as being an inspirational captain tbh. The U21s captain on the other hand, was superb at St Mary's on Monday night. Very promising.

I see two things here. Evra going and Baines being bought. this would be an unnecessary way of dealing with our left back spot.

Or it's simply a smokescreen to force Ashley Cole to quickly commit his future to PSG. This happened to another player this season, cannot for the love of me remember who it was. Club A went official with interest in player X and forced player Y to advance negotiations with club A.

Surprised so few had him in the top 3 for MoM. Probably his best game this season. Nothing came from the right side of the pitch and he was pretty much faultless as well as good going forward. Generally been in a better form this season than he has in the past 2 or 3.

City's two or three best chances came after Evra's laziness to track back.

I tend to agree with his form being better this season than last. He is still a talented player who gets far more stick than he deserves.

well actually Nasri played in Silva off the back of Evra that lead to the first City goal and bizarrely went out for a phantom header, leaving his near post vacant where the Zabaleta half volley went in. Dont get me wrong he had a solid game but wasnt worthy of being in the top 3 today nor was he even our best fullback imo

EDIT: also was napping for the Balotelli volley as he thought it was going out and when Clichy got to it Balotelli had got a run on him and he was never catching up

I have no clue why he is captain, he might be a good character in the dressing room but I'd give the armband to Rooney and make it permanent asap.

That's probably the clue you're looking for.

It's clear that Paddy is very well liked and respected in the dressing room... add to the fact that he is ever present makes for a good vice-captain.

His second half performance was terrible. He basically gave city a free run on the left side. Young had to cover him so many times. Smalling was forced to move way from his central position to cover him. I'm beginning to think it's both laziness and age taking effect that's to be blamed.

Responsible for the corner that led to City's 2nd because he was no where and as mentioned at fault for the first.

Not his best game defensively.

Too much focus on his mistake; what about his lung-bursting run to catch up with Tevez and prevent a certain goal? Blaming someone for a corner that led to a goal is just about as ridiculous as a goat going to a night club and shacking up with the hottest girl there (I'm tired so I couldn't come up with anything better!)

Evra was brilliant against City, and I think it is about bloody time that people start appreciating him and stop whining about once or twice him being out of position as he is an attacking fullback - it's only natural that he will be caught out. FFS, the f*** blocked a cross and it lead to a corner that the others couldn't clear - let's blame it on the bloke who stopped the cross; that's brilliant. Almost as good as last years "Evra was responsible for the free kick on the middle of the pitch that led to a goal because Evans ran into Rio's back" - bloody Evra that! yeeeeeezz

Not his worst either. He cut out plenty of balls into the box during the game as well and provided an extra threat going forward.

I don't understand how giving away a corner can be counted against him either. If he has blocked the initial cross coming in and it has gone behind. He has done his job. You can't blame him for the ball being cleared to the unmarked player at the top of the box.

I thought he did really well yesterday I actually, closed them down a lot and put in a lot of good blocks and tackles. He's been much improved this season as a whole as well IMO, not at 07/09 standards but he's been really good apart from the odd game. No longer a liability like he was for much of last season.

You take the good with the bad mate. Relax. Defensive duties come first. So if he cant track back from bursting forward, he might as well stay back. What excuse would you have if we conceded down his side as a result of him failing to track back?

That's a lot of bullocks. If you take the good with the bad, you should say both. I didn't say he played perfectly, but on a supporter forum it just pisses me off that wums go on and on about him being out of position when they probably have no feckin idea about what that position is meant to be by the coaching staff.

Do you think that his defensive duties come first? Does Young's offensive duties come first too? I see them as being intertwined and them helping each other out a lot. Evra is as much an attacking player as he is a defensive one. He probably should have had a penalty yesterday (and he should have had a goal if he knew his head from his shoulder) and he blocked several crosses, made quite a few tackles and interceptions, but then again, you may choose to focus on him being "out of position."

Clichy had a great game yesterday against Valencia - didn't escape being caught out of position once or twice though BECAUSE he is is an attacking fullback.

Evra saved us on a couple of occasions last night, yet all we hear is the stereotypical nonsense of him being out of position without some proper explanations as to what that is.

He had a solid 7,5-8 game yesterday and should be applauded for that. Together with Rafael, he probably forms the best fullback pairing in the league this year.

Massive improvement this season by Evra.

Staying back a bit more, tight on the winger and not getting beaten, blocking off plenty of crosses. Really good improvement.

Erm, I'm pretty sure the 2nd corner was as a result of a mix up between Rafael and Cleverley? Not that I would aportion any blame to either of them mind... once you concede a corner, it's the teams job to defend it properly, and by leaving Zabaleta unmarked, we didn't.

Some are just so overly critical and try to find the tiniest thing to pin on him, they have an idea of an Evra in their heads now that they must try to find evidence to back up.

Did alright yesterday, out of position a couple of times because that's the job he's asked to do.

"You'd have to kill Ferguson for me to come to Paris!"

Taken from RMCsport. Anyone catch his post match interview on talk sport? Bit a of a legend is our Patrice, definitely got a few more years in him.

A little more of the quote Motson, I love his opening line :D

You are not serious to ask me such a question? I have one year remaining on my contract, I am playing at Manchester United and I am captain.

You would need to kill [Sir Alex] Ferguson before anyone made me go to Paris! There is nothing in it and I am happy at Manchester

(And Rafael in the back).

 Loon

Kissing the badge is so yesterday, now it's all about licking it like a mad man.

Often you take comments from clubs and players with apinch of salt, but this is about as adament as they get.

Delighted.
