The Sunday papers will claim that we'll be spending the Disco money on Di Canio

I think it's the same Sunday people who said we were signing Rio...

Nowadays shirt numbers don't mean as much, especially at club level. If you perform well, you're valuable, and that's it. Look at Keane, look at Scholes, of course, look at Ole.

I can see this one. It could explain why Dwight went so quick, and so cheap!

The reason Dwight went for so cheap was because Blackburn had to front his 40k p/w wage demands and so united lowere his value. He went so quick because Fergie's been trying to offload him for over a year.
Fantastic signing for Blackburn. I can see them being a force this season. Yorke, cole, jansen, grabbi (admittedly unproven, but good backup) and tugay, dunn and duff in midfield. They really need to spend on defenders though. Can berg really last another season? Methinks not.

I disagree with us purchasing Di Canio. We can't be raising our average squad age with all these "quick fixes" when we should really be looking for a younger striker.

But a good, young player would cost a lot of money. Kenyon has already said we won't make any more transfers this summer, so if we do, it would likely not exceed 2 million pounds. Di Canio is the best we can get for that kind of money.

Although those examples are true, most strikers love being 9 or 10 (I'm getting on a bit but still grab no 10 every chance I get - even at 5 a side )
PDC for No 9 is defo the best, cheap option we'll get - got for it SAF !

Di Canio is OK, of course if he'll agree with sitting on the bench

Di Canio on the bench? I think not. He'll start alongside van Nistelrooy if we get him. Of course, I'm sure Ole will also get his chances ... But Di Canio would be a great addition to the squad, the best we could hope for.

Yes, that would be a great example of the kind of loyalty expected from the players, but not often returned by management.

Don't take is personally
We need four strikers and whoever is on form and is right for the system needed in certain games should play.

Never had a problem with that. I would just hate to see Di Canio, or anyone else, come into the side and displace any player for no good reason.

26, I feel just the same about Butt and Scholes, probably even more so in fact.
If Butt makes way for a JSV who doesn't warrant selection, I'll be spitting chips.

I would be made up if Ole was fourth man and accepted it.

It's not just about the players. I support Manchester United, and I get frustrated when there are team changes which means those who have been delivering the goods are replaced without losing form.
I hope we do get di Canio as it happens. I liked the old "mix and match" system when we had four strikers because it meant the opposition never knew who they would be up against.

I'd rather see a youngster being promoted to the first team (provided they are capable enough) than to see an old guy like di canio join us.
Youth is the future, not old farts.
