If he was going to retire he would have done it by now.

why? He may still have hope that he can return. Solskjaer didn't retire until he realised (through training and trying to get back) that his body was able for it.

Hargreaves could easily be waiting until he actually gets back in training to see how his knees react to actually playing football before making a decision.

Waste of time including him in our CL squad it seems. Could have gone to Tosic.

Yeah it did seem odd at the time picking him instead of Tosic but i think SAF believed he would be back by now and hence he could use the UCL to get match sharpness, and it seems unfair on Tosic now because i am sure he would have started the last 2 games given that we are already through

I'm in love with Owen Hargreaves.

Nice to see him in training, but wonder how far he was pushed in terms of workload

it said in a norwegian story that he was just messing around with the ball and doing some passes with the staff.

Sure at least he has started running and working with the ball. I'm sure he would have kept himself in shape in general. Hopefully it won't be that long before he is back.

It'll probably take him another week or two to make the bench, then another month or so to regain match fitness.

Hopefully he can be ready by the new year. I think on form he could well be a first team starter, especially in the big games and CL.

Umair started this thread almost six weeks ago. Does anyone have up to date info?

To anyone who remembers the saga of Gary Nev's return from injury this is all sounding very familiar....

When SSN showed him kicking a ball...and walking unaided I was like "YEAHH"

Hopefully he is on his way now, if he is fit and ready to lpay the last third of the season, then it'll be brilliant

It's also similar to any other return from long term injury.

Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man at Manchester United, Mike Phelan, has claimed that midfielder Owen Hargreaves' rehabilitation is continuing to progress with minimal complications.

The former Bayern Munich star has battled a complex knee injury, and has since required multiple surgeries, however, the international anchor has returned to the training ground.

"It's a sort of softly, softly approach with Owen," said Phelan to the club's official website manutd.com.

"He’s been out a long time now, but he’s back on the training ground. He has a lot of rehab work to do which is going to be a continuous thing for him now.

"He's doing some ball work out on the training ground and his fitness is looking very good, but obviously he hasn’t got into a big group situation yet.

"He’s as keen as mustard to get back in there with the squad and the time is definitely getting shorter until he is back in training fully."

so much for three weeks

He'll probably be back in February or something. I don't have high hopes for Hargreaves. He's been out for way too long.

As long as hes back in time for England and the world cup I'm not fussed.

You serious?

Yeah, England need him more than we do.. and I don't think he'll realistically be able to make much of a contribution to our season if he starts playing in February..which means if he does stay injury free he'll probably be match fit (perform for 90 minutes and make a valid contribution) come April.
