i'lls stick to my prediction that hargreaves will never be an integral part of our 1st 11.

If he comes back at all ( which i doubt ) i think he will be a squad player at most

I hope I'm wrong all the same

HARGREAVES IS OUT, NOT PLAYING TOMORROW. CAPS LOCK TO TAKE HIS PLACE IN MIDFIELD.

Apparently the game "doesn't fit into his training plans".

If that is the case then it looks a poor move from Fergie to say he is pencilled in. Shouldn't announce it as it adds pressure and gets everyone's hopes up. Should just announce the squad like usual in the afternoon of the game when he is in it.

WTF? I was coming to post now all that will complete this week after scum losing, Madrid going out and our brilliant win is a run out by Hargo .. this better be some BS by Winter.

SAF wouldn't have said unless he was convinced that would be the case. Have been hearing recently that most of Hargreaves problems are now in his head, this latest setback, if true would back this up. SAFs patience will be wearing thin

Hargreaves return on hold

Owen Hargreaves will not take part in the Reserves' Manchester derby on Thursday evening.

Last week it was reported that the midfielder would make his long-awaited return from injury when Manchester City travelled to Altrincham's Moss Lane on 11 March.

But the game, a top-of-the-table league clash, doesn't tally with Hargreaves' precise rehabilitation schedule.

A club spokesperson told ManUtd.com: "This definitely isn't another injury setback. It just doesn't fit in with Owen's training schedule."

But while Hargreaves, who hasn't played since September 2008, won't feature, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to name a strong team, despite the game coming just three days after the Reserves beat Stockport County 1-0 in the Manchester Senior Cup.

Thursday's game kicks off at Moss Lane, Altrincham, at 19:00. Entry is free for season ticket holders, £5 adults, £3 concs.

Those who can't make it to Altrincham can watch the match live on MUTV or read our match report on ManUtd.com shortly after the final whistle.

I really have my doubts about him now. :(

Seems very strange to "pencil" him in for the game and then say it doesn't fit his training schedule.

I once asked a girl on a date. She said she'd pencil me in. That was three years ago. We're getting married in September. Pencils are good. Have no fear.

With reports saying Hargreaves will not play tomorrow despite being penciled in, I hope that your penciled in, isn't erased like Hargreaves.

feck off, just feck off.. how many more fecking days do we have to wait. Schedule my arse.

Doesn't fit into his training schedule? That's the most lame sickie I've ever heard.

I've heard his current schedule involves sitting down - creating pressure on the arse muscle, picking up his hefty wage pack - getting his hands working and strengthening his forearm and biceps, training at OAP intesity - achieving healthier heart and keeping the pounds off ;)

People who get their hopes up deserve to be disappointed. He'll return when he's ready.

I've pretty much accepted the fact that he's either not coming back, or will be a shadow of his old self. He would be competing with Gibson and Anderson, and possibly even Matty James or Cleverley next season, should they make the step up. He is versatile but a large part of his game is about his pace, which would undoubtedly be severely affected.

Have a strange feeling he'd eventually be released from the club if the physios just can't get him back to 100%.

Alright, I give up.

I and many others have held out and kept our thoughts reserved but now it's hit a tipping point, he's never EVER going to be an important part of our club and this is proof.

I could be being a spastic, over-dramatic bitch right now but this is it, and it's dissapointing because we waisted years going for this guy only for his arrival at the club to be ruined by shitfeck scouting and physiotherapy and awful knees and shit.

TBF he was vital in the double season. Played well in the UCL final and scored a penalty under pressure. So its not like we never got anything out of him.

I've said all along that instead of building peoples hopes the staff should just write off this season for Owen. That way it doesn't build any unnecessary pressure on Owen. Then have him have a full pre-season and see if he is fit enough to play. In the meanwhile if he is fit enough to play a few reserve matches this season then great.

Canada: Is it safe to come back out yet?

What is it with this "club spokesperson" an his incredibly lame excuses about everything? All he does is create awkward questions for SAF at the next press conference.

Honestly, I've stopped caring. I don't think he will be with us past his contract. Good player, but injuries have destroyed his career and we need to look ahead.

Owen heard there would be running, tackling and passing involved and decided, "nope, i'm just not ready for it yet. Ask me again in three weeks."

Shouldve tried to cut our losses with him a while ago I reckon - sell him to Everton or someone and watch him make a miraculous recovery.

Either way, I havent expected him to be an important feature of our first team for ages, nothing much has changed yet - if we are looking to buy a player though, a truly world class CM would be a sensible priority - we have nobody who i would put on the level of the best ones like Essien, Gerrard, Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta etc and it has shown at times this season.

He was never coming back this season despite what SAF said. We should not get our expectations up. He'd want to be back for next season though!
