Finally! Lets hope he is back in contention before the end of the season..

if we are going to win the league its inevitable that an owen will play a vital part. with the news of micheal owens season being over it falls to owen hargreaves. He is a quality player and if fit will be a huge boost for us especially against the likes of chelsea and liverpool.

With his luck he'll probably get through the reserve games and pull up with a hamstring in the warmups for his first team appearance. I know, i'm being a negative nilly, but i'll believe he's back after he can put in a string of appearances. I'm not going to blow my wad just cause he's stepped back onto the grass after nearly 1.5 years out.

Should the title of the thread be changed? Or is it always going to be correct?

A good point. He is bound to get niggling injuries. It'd be the same for any player coming back after being out so long at his age. I just hope he can make some kind of contribution this season.

really hope for the lad that he gets through this game. would be nice to see him on the bench for fulham!

unlikely, it was said last week that he was 'penciled' in for Thursday's game, so it would be very surprising if his come back was actually brought forward.

So what's the story with him? Will he be involved tonight?

If this match is at Stockports home ground you will hardly be seeing him tonight, the pitch which I saw on Sky last week is awful. Would hardly be ideal for a player coming back from a long injury

Really just wish him a full recovery rather than a speedy one. I would prefer he get fully fit an sharpen up till next season. Maybe squeeze in a match end of this season but I would happy to see him back and strong next season.

If he's able (and that's a fecking huge if), then I feel it's very important he gets minutes for the first team this season. Not so much for his match fitness, although it's obviously an issue, but more to give him the mental belief he can play at that level again. Even if it's in a dead rubber, or just a half hour when we're already three goals up, the minutes will do him the world of good.

I'd much rather he enter pre-season next year looking to complete his comeback rather than looking to start it.

that's like a new £20m signing, outside the transfer window:eek:, so that's £20m deducted from the ronaldo kitty.

:nono: with the Glazer logic...

He'll make a comeback, get pulled into the national team and Heinze will rip him a new one with a dirty Argentine tackle, taking him out for all of next season

I can't even remember what he looks like

I dont' expect much of him this season to be honest, I mean 2 knee operations + surgery, isn't easy to recover, if we should rush him on the pitch, I'm still afraid this guys will get parallyzed or something, some easy reserve games and a preseason should do him the world of good and we will see the best of him next season.
