I can only see us landing Dembele if it's a loan. I can't see us paying £65 million which is the fee reported by the Times with his injury record.
Why should we loan a player and pay big wages for an entire season when he'll play 10 games max across all competitions?
We were linked to Chiesa for about 2 years.
We spent 2 years chasing Sancho and then deadline day buy Dembele when Barca doesn't want to loan him after we lose 6-1 at home? Why is it a ‘panic deal?’
Let's see if we got him if I am wrong then. He tore the same hamstring he's already torn 50 times as recently as August. If the guy could stay fit he'd be perfect for that RW but problem is he can't. This many injuries for a 23 year old is alarming. You’ve even given him a ‘max’ number of games now ffs.
Perhaps the kid should just retire.
Ffs. So you think that because we were not constantly linked to signing Barcelona’s 135m winger we just decided we liked him? He’s a Barca player, you don’t get linked with their players for two years! Perhaps when they become available, then you see links.
And we’ve been linked to Dembele long before 2 years ago.

No I thinik we didn't consider him because of his injuries but have been forced too in this window. Where did I say we only decided we liked him now.
We didn’t consider Barcelona’s winger in the same was we considered Fiorentina’s for obvious reasons. And even then, we have been loosely linked to Chiesa anyway. There’s been little to suggest he’s been a top target for us. He’s been an option under consideration. The club like Dembele too, obviously, as they have done since he was a teen. This summer, Dembele is available, and the club have prioritised him over Chiesa.
There is only panic there if you are looking for something to complain about, which with this being the internet and all, is probably the case.
I honestly think we'll still sign Sancho because I believe Rashford can be upgraded and the competition for places will put us in a very strong position as far as the attack depth is concerned. Also it was reported by Cope in Spain that Barca had contributed to Dembele's injury issues by putting him on the wrong fitness program. My worry is if it's a permanent deal, we will forego on Sancho next year, which would be a terrible move.

That's how I feel bro and would be very happy with this signing.
5 in La Liga and 4 in Champions League..Did he really only play 9 games last season?
That cant be right, right
Yeah I pretty much said as much in my edit of the post as well, but I do worry about the risk if it's a permanent deal. He definitely has the natural talent to be amazing but I want the flexibility of having him in on loan with the option to buy at a reasonable enough amount that he wouldn't preclude us from getting Sancho.I honestly think we'll still sign Sancho because I believe Rashford can be upgraded and the competition for places will put us in a very strong position as far as the attack depth is concerned. No its fine that we do it. Panic signings aren't the end of the world. Its better than nothing, just comes with more risk. Its a panic signing from the boards perspective, as I don't think there's a chance in hell we make any big signing if we didn't get hammered by Spurs or had this bad of a start to the season. We spent 2 years chasing Sancho, yet we haven’t managed to get him. What do you propose we do should we not buy Sancho? Thankfully, it seems that we had some ideas as to what we might do. And we have obviously been trying to get him well before today’s game even kicked off, let’s not try that one.
It's a reaction to an awful signing, a planned Dembele loan was hardly option two for the right wing. The point is Dembele turned down other clubs in a much better position than us. If we want players to come it should be for the right reasons and not money, this goes against we were bringing in last year.Should we have signed our Sancho alternative months ago? What has Liverpool and Juve got to do with anything? Yes, it is reactionary. It is a reaction to not getting Sancho. Just stop fecking moaning.
Not sure why we dont go for Depay (if he'd come) as he is open to moving.
Sure he wants to go to Barcelona, but that is dependent on us taking Dembele.
Because we’ve had him before and he was shite? Not sure why we dont go for Depay (if he'd come) as he is open to moving.

Jesus Christ..... pure desperation.5 in La Liga and 4 in Champions League..
We dont need another phil jones..
I don’t get this strange assumption that because we didn’t get Sancho this year we’ll be back for him next summer. We’ll never have a better chance at Sancho, it‘s a free run at him, he’s agreed terms, Dortmund are/were willing to sell, all we had to do is pay the cash and get his medical done. We had 6 months to sort all those details out yet completely fecked it.
We probably won’t even be in the CL next season and our finances will be even worse.
We were in for Sancho in the last summer transfer window, over a year working on a deal at least. Then Dembele on loan was number two on the list. Maybe it's a scramble because we messed up the Sancho deal, then being opportunistic and seeing what's left to save money. What? I guess Diaz for City was a panic buy because they couldn’t get their first choice. Not sure you understand how transfers work. If you can’t get your first target then you move on to the next. He’s been reported to be our next target for quite a while.
If you were Depay and had the choice of Barca or Utd right now, where would you go?Not sure why we dont go for Depay (if he'd come) as he is open to moving.

Well Barcelona isn't a rosy bed right now either but yeah, I guess the sun sangria and hanging out with Messi is alot more appealing than walking into our mess, especially as he knows himself it hasn't improved since he left.If you were Depay and had the choice of Barca or Utd right now, where would you go?
Utd, being Utd will probably spend £60m on Dembele, Barca will replace him for £25m and Dembele will spend 70% of the season injured, again.
We will get this done. More realistic than hoping for a miracle for Sancho on last day. Load with an option to buy will be a good deal.
Not very excited about him but he has the talent and if he manages to rediscover his form we might have our problems on the right flank solved for the future. He really is still only 23 years old. Enough time to reignite his career.
Dembele seems to be suffering from very very poor PR. He was so rated and valued but injuries have hurt him. But one has to assume the talent and potential is still there. If we dont get Sancho, I think its a great option, and just hope he can stay fit (one early good performance will quickly get all the fans onside). Presumably, he has also fast and agile enough to contribute to our forward press.I honestly think we'll still sign Sancho because I believe Rashford can be upgraded and the competition for places will put us in a very strong position as far as the attack depth is concerned. Picture yourself, it's a freezing rainy Monday morning and you have to head to the medical department to watch Phil Jones have his prolapsed anus pushed back in, again, and on your way in the fecker pushes the door into your face, breaking your nose.Well Barcelona isn't a rosy bed right now either but yeah, I guess the sun sangria and hanging out with Messi is alot more appealing than walking into our mess, especially as he knows himself it hasn't improved since he left.

Anything beyond a loan with an option to buy would be absolutely mental.
He's probably on massive fecking wages too.
Top post Sammsky1. You've summed up my thoughts entirely.Dembele seems to be suffering from very very poor PR. He was so rated and valued but injuries have hurt him. My bigger worry is the negativity around the club meaning Ole getting himself sacked, and then we have a whole squad who may not for the new managers vision. Its so frustrating, every thing was falling into place after end of last season but our late transfer activity has put us back to just before Jose got sacked.
