Our form since the restart...WWWWWWWDLWWWWDWDWWWWL…WDWW (also the calm down thread)

I’m greedy for silverware too but as we’re often reminded it’s a process.

The silverware doesn’t all need to be this season, get top four, get better players in through that champions league door then go for the better trophies next season.

True. Another day or two out at Wembley would be great though.

I reckon we also need to have ten or so players leave. Jones, Bailly, Telles, Tuanzebe, Maguire, McTominay, Martial, Elanga, Henderson, Williams, van de Beek.

There's a thread on the main forum suggesting it's time to burst Ten Hag's bubble.
Yes those who call for his sacking are a tiny minority, but those who question him big time and somewhat doubting our progress (without calling for his sacking) are quite vocal tonight.

While today is quite special because 7-0 is a rare result...

the fact that they thrashed us 4-0 and 5-0 last season- you'd assume they also won't let us forget about these too, right?
How does it manifest itself? I've many scouse supporting friends and bar the odd dick-swinging contest, it hardly ever gets mentioned.
People (rightly) tend to focus on the last couple of results. Banter never lasts that long.

Mate.. The one who opened the Ten Hag's bubble thread is a very known troll here. Search his old threads. He posts such threads for joking purposes and nothing else.

The scousers are a different breed, until we do the same to them they'll never let us forget it

Come the end of the season all that will matter is who won trophies and who has qualified for the Champions League. Who cares what Dippers think?

Losing 7-0 against Liverpool is never fecking okay.

Every person on this forum (and those outside of it that are Utd fans, and arguably non Utd fans because my Geordie father-in-law didn't even take the piss) knows that it's not OK. But being realistic, go back in time to the summer and if somebody offered you this season's results so far after this many games, tell me you wouldn't bite their hand off.

This is a freak result, it's not reflective of our (or their) season and it needs putting in some fecking perspective before people lose their minds.

Only now realised it was Elvis ;) whoosh....

It seemed like everything that could have gone wrong today did. In fact I think Salah's goal encapsulated that, we had two unlucky bounces that just landed straight at his feet. On another day the ball goes in the other direction. I think a large part of the blame for that can be pointed towards the schedule. If I remember correctly, the commentators during the Newcastle game said we had played something like 10 more games since the restart than Newcastle. We've had the worst fixture congestion for as long as I can remember and we were pretty much due a day like this.

We've played 21 games since the World Cup finished, winning 16, drawing 3 and losing 2. That's pretty good going.

The two losses have come against the leaders (when we faced them without our best player), and a bogey team who are pretty much out of every competition and playing what is literally their cup final of the season.

Our fixture list is gruelling (we've had a game every 3 days since the restart) and our squad isn't as large as some of the other teams around us.

Let's just all stay calm and trust the rebuild process.

EtH has done an incredible job taking this team from where it was post Rangnick to where it is now...and we have a trophy to boot.

The first season of his reign was never going to be a smooth ride. It was always going to be turbulent, but the overall trajectory is good, we're winning more games than any other season post Fergie, and we're still looking strong to add another trophy to the Carabao Cup. Our team is still a few signings away from being complete, but we are getting there.

It's a shit feeling to lose to Liverpool, especially by such a heavy scoreline, but I'm not as crestfallen as I was following the 5-0 and 4-0 from last season.

We were realistically never in for the title given the start we had, but a comfortable 3rd place finish would be excellent. If a trophy & top 4 was offered at the start of the season, I'm guessing most of us would have taken that. So let's just get behind the team and push them on in the competitions we're in.
Spot on OP.

This result reminded me of the 1-6 v City, in the sense that we collectively lost our heads and the scoreline ultimately flattered the opposition as we played naively in response to what happened.

We recovered well from that, and judging by what ETH has done in response to other setbacks (the Brentford, Villa, and City games) I have no doubts he'll respond just as well to this one, and use it as yet another learning experience for himself and the team.

I don't but they will, until we stuff them big time they'll go on about it

Actually looking at our remaining league fixtures they are not too bad on paper.

Spurs and Newcastle away and Chelsea at home, but a good number of home games against the lower placed teams which should enable us to get enough points for the top 4.

Im looking on the positive side i didn't think i could hate liverpool anymore than i already did, but tonight I have hit a new level. Hopefully our players are feeling the same and we get a positive reaction till the end of the season.

Nah, feck that. 7-0 is an embarrassing result against any team in any league BUT against Liverpool, it's absolutely disgraceful. This after not scoring against them in the league last season, losing 9-0 on aggregate and that was only because they stopped trying at OT after 30 minutes.

This our biggest ever PL defeat, trust me they will go on about just like they do with the EC/CL thing, City fans went on about their 5-1 at Maine Rd for a decade or so as well

So what? You have to learn to ignore it or deal with it. You have to take the good with the bad because throughout life-- there will be good times and bad times. I've gone with the ignore option as I have turned off my phone to ignore all messages from my mates.

How much stick did United fans give Pool fans for when Gerrard slipped vs Chelsea? That slip cost Gerrard an EPL title----- this loss today cost United what? 3 points. Whoop de do. United still is in great shape for the Arsene Wenger top 4 trophy and still in it for the FA Cup and Europa League. This loss was so hilariously bad that I think I'd be more upset at losing 1-0 bc of the few decent chances United had and couldn't put away in the 1st half. Now- those missed chances didn't matter. It was just one of those days where nothing went right--- it happens all the time in life.

Nah mate. I know it's subjective and all,
but imagine something like this happening while they have Gerrad or Charrager on their team.

Let them, no-one else will care in a week's time. We'll just carry on with our pursuits of top four, Europa League and FA Cup.

Its not your losses that define you but how you respond when you loose. No point lying on the floor crying like babies. Lets get up, dust ourselves off and go again. We are still in 2 cups and top 4.

That last letter should be H. Wasn't a loss, it was abject humiliation and that's why people are upset.

7-0 was a joke score line. Every shot basically went in for them but I’d agree our form has been superb and we’ve lost at 2 of the hardest away games. That doesn’t mean today was acceptable though, there are still to many players who go soft under pressure or lose their heads.

How many games have Pool played since the restart out of interest, will be good to know?

I honestly won’t even care about this is we can keep them out of the CL, let them brag about battering us at Anfield whilst plying Thurs night football.

Since the world cup this was their 16th game, today was our 21st game.

We have been playing every 3 days since 12/27

Eh? Is this true @rimaldo?

I know a lot want most of the team dropped for the next match but I think given it's the first team (and how poor some of the replacements are) having a game at home in a different cup is probably what we need to try get these players back mentally. I'd play most of the team anyway (maybe drop wout, and bring in garnacho or sabitzer)

Losing is part of the game. You can't win everything and occasionally you're gonig to have a bad day at the office but you pick yourself up and move on.

Unless you want a blood sacrifice from the players and manager.

Extremely disappointed in the way we lost the game. But i'm upbeat about our prospects in the mid to long-term. I think with 3 or 4 new signings, we'll challenge for the league. We're on the right path and the result earlier was a bit of a freak result.

The treble is still on

Thank you for being the voice of reason and I cannot believe so many think we can just brush this off. We are gonna kop it (excuse pun) from every team's fans now

We have no choice but to brush this off. What's the point of crying over spilt milk? We're still third in the league and in the running for a treble.

Because it's LIVERPOOL that's why

Obviously. But we can't just sit around crying over it. We have to dust ourselves off and use it as motivation for the rest of the rest of the season to make sure we finish above them and win more trophies.

This is not just a bad day. This is our biggest loss in almost a century against our bitter rivals. People are right to be upset, and questioning the tactics and performance levels of our players in the second half is not unreasonable.

I have been hugely impressed with EtH this season, but god knows what he was thinking putting Shaw at CB when 4-0 down. Should have brought on Maguire for Bruno, taken our medicine and not shipped one of the most infamous results of our clubs entire history.

How we look back on this in 3 months depends on how we respond and end the season. How we look back on it now can only be in a hugely negative light. Anyone else thinking otherwise must be crazy in my eyes. This will hurt for a long time.

It’s not a treble, that’s a disservice to the 99 team, it’s 3 second rate trophies. Yes it’s good to win cups but it’s not anywhere near a treble. Pedantic I know but it’s a million miles from a treble.

Did people go crazy when SAF lost 6-1 at OT to fecking Balotelli and Mr. Was Goal??? I bet they did. And yet he is still the Sir Alex we all know and love. Wanting to sack Ten Hah after impressive streak of good performances, Grow up.

Superb post can't believe more can't see it

No but was same gung-ho approach we saw in that game and paid the price like in 2011

It's a treble, not the treble. I deliberately made that distinction (Pedantic I Know but the FA Cup is not a second rate trophy).

I think people need to respect that it’s perfectly fine to be absolutely appalled at the result today, and also recognize how well we have done recently. You can do both.

We have done well but winning Carabao or finishing top 4 isn't making up for our worst ever performance and heaviest defeat

It's right up there with Aguero in 2012. When the 6th and 7th went in, I was burying my face in the pillow in disbelief and genuinely sick to my stomach.

This group of players and EtH have worked up quite a bit of credit in the bank, but I won't lie and say that watching that 90 mins today hasn't shaken the belief that I had gained throughout the season.

I'm not just talking about the mistakes and individually poor performances. We were going for it at 4-0 down at Anfield, trying to scrape a goal back! It was such a high degree of naivety, something I thought had gone after watching us brush off Newcastle so efficiently last weekend.

It was poor all round, and poor from EtH too. I sound like a broken record, but I can't believe that Malacia sub at 4-0. You have to swallow your pride there and say enough is enough.

Yeah I was amazed I didn't throw up at this and also buried my head into the pillow too
