Seriously, apart from the people directly involved, i.e. the film industry itself, does anyone really care a flying feck about the Oscars? Same with the BAFTAs, isn't it just the film industry patting each other on the back.
It doesn't matter but it's nice when you see a great film and want it to be recognised by others.
Yes. Going well enough. Almost back to being monetized again after a little issue with YouTube and me stopping for like half a year in frustration. Are you still doing movie reviews on YouTube? How’s that going?
Supposed to be about the American Dream. Achieving it and the dismantling of it. Something like that.Just seen Brutalist. Didnt like what i saw. Sure Broody is a great actor but the movie has no tangible substance for me. What was it? Redemption?
That was pretty clear no? The whole buildup, the introduction with the statue of Liberty, the hopes, the letters to his wife...Supposed to be about the American Dream. Achieving it and the dismantling of it. Something like that.

Think they made a mistake by excluding Sing Sing.I've seen Anora, Conclave, The Substance and just recently The Brutalist.
It's neck and neck with Anora and the Brutalist. But Conclave and The Substance are also two very good films.
It's been a good year for film.
Conclave* And as much as I enjoyed the film and Fiennes's performance, Brody's is on another level and is nailed on to win it. Unless the morons at the Academy think he won it too recently or something (it was 20 years ago).Cardinal is a very good film and is held together entirely by Fiennes. Giving how low quality the Oscars are this year I'd say he should win it.

Yep. Fair enough.Conclave* And as much as I enjoyed the film and Fiennes's performance, Brody's is on another level and is nailed on to win it. Unless the morons at the Academy think he won it too recently or something (it was 20 years ago).
I've seen loads of very good films in the past year, I've had this conversation before, a lot of the stuff I enjoy isn't necessarily represented at the Oscars nor do I think it's a good (or interesting) barometer for the quality of film during a specific year considering how often they get swayed by lobbying and attempts at being political (but not too political, just in a let's pat ourselves on the back look how down to earth we are kind of way). And the worse film I've seen this year, Emilia Perez, has been very present in the awards season, so...Yep. Fair enough.
But which do you think? I've been underwhelmed by the quality of films (many more but not great unless you go all the way independent or quasi-independent film).
Succinct.I've seen loads of very good films in the past year, I've had this conversation before, a lot of the stuff I enjoy isn't necessarily represented at the Oscars nor do I think it's a good (or interesting) barometer for the quality of film during a specific year considering how often they get swayed by lobbying and attempts at being political (but not too political, just in a let's pat ourselves on the back look how down to earth we are kind of way). That is a fecking travestyThe best actor category was stacked that year and arguably the worst performance for best supporting actor, not bad, just not as good as one or two of the others, won it.
Best Actor in a Leading Role
- Tom Hanks – Philadelphia as Andrew Beckett‡
Best Actress in a Leading Role
- Holly Hunter – The Piano as Ada McGrath‡
- Angela Bassett – What's Love Got to Do with It as Tina Turner
- Stockard Channing – Six Degrees of Separation as Ouisa Kittredge
- Emma Thompson – The Remains of the Day as Sarah "Sally" Kenton
- Debra Winger – Shadowlands as Joy Davidman
Best Actor in a Supporting Role
- Tommy Lee Jones – The Fugitive as U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard‡
- Leonardo DiCaprio – What's Eating Gilbert Grape as Arnold "Arnie" Grape
- Ralph Fiennes – Schindler's List as Amon Göth
- John Malkovich – In the Line of Fire as Mitch Leary
- Pete Postlethwaite – In the Name of the Father as Giuseppe Conlon
That best actor category is as hard as it gets to pick a winner by DDL should have won it (or Liam Neeson) imo. Fiennes or Postlewaite for the supporting actor.
Cardinal is a very good film and is held together entirely by Fiennes. Giving how low quality the Oscars are this year I'd say he should win it.
Also, where is Denzel for best supporting actor for Philadelphia? A better supporting role than most of the nominees this year and not even included.
Tommy Lee Jones won best supporting actor for The Fugitive![]()
I don't care either tbh. And I like TLJ as a actor. You're laughing but...

Did my annual review and predictions video. I was sick while filming and editing this so excuse any lack of energy or anything or if I look off.

Nope. Just can't see it. Anora is the most likely after the controversy surrounding Emilia Perez and Brutalist.Predictions... (not my preferences, but how I think it's going to go)
Best Picture
A Complete Unknown
Thank you. Appreciated.to be fair, this is better content than what you've been putting up on Only Fans as of late.
I’m kidding you with that of course, but good work on the film critiques and good luck with the channel.Thank you. Appreciated.
But also![]()
Anora is too smutty for Best picture, I think. I agree it should win anyway, but the Academy gonna Academy, and Dylan is the safe cozy choice for all the boomers.Nope. Just can't see it. Anora is the most likely after the controversy surrounding Emilia Perez and Brutalist.
sad face! Can't believe wingy didn't get a single mention.
I wasn't as taken away by The Substance as most people but I hope it's randomly picked as the winner just for horror to get the limelight. Then the award is dedicated to Toni Collette.Anora is too smutty for Best picture, I think. Collette even rhymes with statuette.I wasn't as taken away by The Substance as most people but I hope it's randomly picked as the winner just for horror to get the limelight. Then the award is dedicated to Toni Collette.
Who??Aaand Emilia Pérez gets its first win (Zoey Saldanha).
