Omar Berrada | Man Utd CEO

Not for long.. I reckon 3-4 years max.

What concerns do you have? What will they use us for?

Revenue/op profit… Ineos turn over tens of billions a year and gross two to three billion
Value… Ratcliffe is worth about £30Bn (net)
Quick cash take… it was Ratcliffes idea to veto dividends for three years

What is the global, multi income streamed, profitable group and the highly successful/highly rich owner going to use United for?

Or maybe, Ratcliffe is 71, can only increase Ineos/personal value so much now but as a United fan wants to use his/his teams vast experience to sort the club out?

At 71 maybe he wants a legacy at United. Why not? If he gets us back to the top give the man a statue already.

That is shocking - and for once, I can use that word together with United in a positive way

It's great. They've appointed someone with a football background and a track record of success. The typical Glazer way is a year-long search and then they appoint the first guy to walk into the canteen that morning.

Thanks for agreeing with me, and substantiating my argument, if he hadn't had the money to spend, it's questionable he would have got the players he did.
It's irrelevant if he knew where the money was coming from.

If you play FM. try taking a team from League 3 to the top of the tree, winning everything on your way and see how long it takes, (if you don't get the sack)
Then do it on cheat mode and compare.
Operating with Manchester Uniteds wage and transfer budget is already a cheat code. He isnt taking over Salford City, he is taking over Manchester United.

Our problem was never not having the money, it was how we used it. And now we have someone capable of allocating billions of dollars.

For the sporting director position, keep your eye on Pino of Roma. Leaving them on February 3rd. Only 35/36 years old. Already had the position at two big clubs and is tipped for a bigger club

Oh do you mean Tiago Pinto,so which other big club has he been a Sporting Director

RedCafe - putting a best-in-class backroom team together is the biggest priority, no manager can succeed when forced to work under these incompetent clowns

SJR appoints industry-leading CEO

RedCafe - Haven't heard of him. How important is a CEO? It's what happens on the pitch that's important.

Some people will never miss an opportunity to be pessimistic
Nailed it

To be fair he isn’t an industry leading CEO as that wasn’t his previous role. At the game time your underlying point is spot on. I get that this won’t fix everything - we are miles behind the top teams and there’s nothing we can do to quickly make up that gap. It will be many incremental changes that will get us there and improving our executive / back room personnel is absolutely one of those needed since it’s where I believe we are most lacking

I like United and redcafe and I dont like Liverpool and rank or City and bluemooon.

I see that, thank you. Still think it's wishful-thinking to think that the senior exec that joined United, just happens to be one of the few not involved in City's feckery. Will wait and see, just hope we didn't make an unpalatable appointment

I might be wrong but INEOS strike me as someone who will have a backup plan IF we end up in a Spurs Paritici situation

City are the soulless symptom of the stagnation of the current global, oligarchic zombie-capital.

A hollow club for a hollow age. So much surplus global capital in the hands of a few greedy oligarchs that they can invest billions in a vanity project that utterly destroys the very notion of sport by cutting out the risk of ever failing.

The very soul, the traumatic kernel of life is extracted from the experience of the world and a new corrupted shiny version offered up. City in their current metabolisation are Frankenstein's monster without Mary Shelly's romanticism. The plastic risk-averse version of our enjoyment replaces the real as we purchase and consume our wine without alcohol, our coffee without caffeine and seek out love without falling, the UAE project owner serves us up his own plaything, football without the risk of failing. Football without rivalry. City, soul-less, emptied of trauma, a corrupted plastic shell of a club, all life sucked out of it.

The other side of town, the flip side of the same current global Capital coin we have the Glazers. Not yet as satiated, not yet quite as glutted as the oligarch class in surplus capital, the Carpetbagging parasites suck the life out of the football side of United while bleeding the club of the profits that the fans create. Predatorial leeches of the worst kind, like those alien eggs that hatch inside a living organism and eat the host body from within eventually the new globular pulsating flesh replacing the original and leaving nothing but a husk.

Both sides suffer the life draining banality of global Capital's suffocation and replacement. City, or rather all semblance to the original football club that was City has been exterminated and replaced but the burning hard-core kernel of United has not yet been extinguished. Something in the beast still stirs. Shelly's Frankenstein's monster has soul.

And this is precisely what Omar Barrada has glimpsed. Therein lies the true meaning of his United-obsessive historic tweets. The truth was and is that United, stirs the soul just as the plastic simulacrum that is City leaves one cold.
Ok Peter Drury, calm down.

Actually Glazers reads redcafe and appoint the guy with the highest vote. That's how ETH was appointed as manager.

Side note but god i never realised how badly written the Daily Mail actually is (cos i never read it).

I know people always criticise the agenda it spews, but this is basically unreadable. That bit about the Stone Roses song literally doesn't even make sense

There must Stone Roses Berrada some Besort of message in therMIKE KEEGAN

Is this seriously how a club of such a size operates? These videos about him with Txiki looks extremely set up for SoMe, like they didnt know all this stuff they're explaining. I'd wonder if they even mention these things to each other in the daily as these things are just common knowledge for them.

To me it's like if you shot a documentary about Ferguson saying "Okay, so there's 11 players on our side of the pitch right. On the other half there's 11 too. The way we go about winning this match would be to score 1 more goal than the other team".

This is obvious nonsense as they were paying people through the back door. It's trying to make a candid scene, but there's no way they'd be that dull about it.

As was Rangnick. Everyone wanted him to be caretaker and then move upstairs at the end of his spell. That part didn’t plan out though.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't for Ratcliffe/INEOS because it wasn't a 100% buyout and there was no official commitment or plan laid out to address the debt and I definitely still have concern because the money sucking Glazers are still involved and the possibility INEOS will just use us like the Glazers did.

But fairplay if this is how they do their business, no weeks/months of dragging on only for it to not happen It just happens out of nowhere without even a hint. Hopefully Berrada will take the next 4 months and have a list of what players to target and what players to get rid of and have plan to have the majority of our business done by the start of the pre-season tour.

For those of us who are a certain age, this is how things always used to happen, the media were the last to know.
There was a time whereby if you worked at OT, you risked the sack for disclosing anything.
Then Fergie retired.

Haha this is done for a documentary (I think?). Pretty sure that court case might come faster if they recorded the real conversations.

We are not on cheat mode, and haven't been for some time, we always pay over odds in wages and salary to get mediocre players. If we had the money would we have taken Reguilon and Amrabat on loan, or taken a 35yr old Jonny Evans back ?
Our transfer budget is not as big as people think, it's stifled by FFP, poor contract application and over the top wages.

Yeah I find it funny such a basic conversion around squad salaries is being promoted as a ground breaking thing that we should get excited about for someone who will be paid millions. Surely a set up for the documentary.

FFP is the only real limitation we have. Other than when it has restricted us, we have spent through the roof on players. We are easily on par with clubs like Real Madrid, City, Barcelona and Bayern in what we are able to afford, i.e. there are no clubs in Europe who are going to really outspend us on their way to success.

Some people will never miss an opportunity to be pessimistic

People who hang everything on a managers position are so misguided. It’s always “yeh glazers but” or “Woodward doesn’t train the players”, which makes me twitch everytime.

A better manager at United anytime over the last 11 years would maybe do better relative to the crap we have seen. That’s simply not good enough for me. Uniteds spending and financial strength has been more then enough to win leagues and champions leagues. The strength of the EPL or “poor managers” does not explain uniteds fall so far.

I think of it like I’m coaching my son. Think of it in the same way in a club infrastructure way. I say to him:

Imagine you have a twin brother, both of you are as talented as each other and both have the same potential. One of you does the following:

Targeted diet
Priority rest, sleep and general
Does personal extra training, is never happy at their level
Does not waste energy online social media (toxic for footballers)
Always wants to learn
Targets recovering from setbacks
Focus on improving mental health
Does hobbies that relax
Looks for tips and advice off successful people and peers

The other doesn’t. Which player will be better?

It’s the same with United. United make and spend money and do nothing else that any other elite club would be looking to emulate. United have had the talent but zero drive to make that talent work. They over relied on their money and allowed everything else to fall below elite levels.

Regardless of manager or players , that makes our chances of success much less. And part of the problem is that spending and expectations make the pressure immense and we haven’t give managers or players the proper tools to achieve these goals. What happens is that squads give up or are demoralised.

Think of all the quality signings we’ve made. It’s like they joined thinking “I’m joining a Barca or Real Madrid” and as soon as they get settled they realise the entire infrastructure is second rate. Second rate from elite teams. If you want to be the best then you should be better then the next best.

Elite level sports is elite at all levels. United is the shell of an elite club. A club that looks the part but simply has not been.

Yup it’s a bit like F1, can get the best driver but if the car is shit then you can’t do much.

Man likes challenges. He completed the game on easy mode with City. Now he wants to complete the game on harder difficulty.

Was this guy not implicit in City`s cheating? he has been there since 2011

If they are found guilty and he is.....then what happens to him?

Yup it’s a bit like F1, can get the best driver but if the car is shit then you can’t do much.
In this anology the driver would be the players and the car would be the responsibility of the engineers and team principle, which would be Ten Hag and his coaching staff. So if the car were shit it'd be their fault, just as it's their fault our team plays terrible football

You know if we didn't overpay we'd have more money for other areas of the squad I mean that's obvious right....right?

Not quite as the car relies on the engineers, research, investment, processes etc.

Saying things explicitly in a meeting leaves little room for second guessing the intentions of the other party.

Ratcliffe said once that United have spent "dumb money", which I think we'd all agree to. This sounds like we're about to exit that era.

Your first sentence answered the question in your second sentence.

We are on cheat mode, because we are one of probably 4 clubs in the world who can spend a billion on transfers. We have the money, we just don’t know how to spend it.

Berradas job is to literally make sure we aren’t running into FFP problems because we don’t sell youth players when it’s clear they won’t make it, or by spending money on useless players.
