Right? You’ve gotta figure an IOC lawyer was sitting there banging his head on somethingThat is…a very interesting question! I suppose a narrower reading of the updated language is that it is just a reiteration that it’s not a transgender case and they are now silent re DSD
Back to the topic at hand - is the IOC then confirming that these are, in fact, DSD cases or are they just reiterating that the cases are not transgender cases?
I’d not seen the statement from the Algerian federation. That at least narrows it down a little bit.It could be both. In the case of Imane Khelif the algerian federation said that she was following a treatment in order to be within the qualification limits. It could be DSD or it could one of the other disorders that increase levels of testosterones or androgens(for example virilization).
Anyway they opened the door for more speculation and less clarity.

Agreed, it has no relevance here. This is from IOC spokesperson Mark Adams.
The International Olympic Committee does not normally write eligibility rules for sports at the games, instead delegating to the governing bodies for each discipline. But boxing has been an unusual exception. In 2023 the ioc stripped the iba of its authority to administer boxing at the Olympics: for years it had questioned the quality of the association’s governance and the integrity of its judges. That decision was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. In a statement on August 1st, the ioc called the tests that the iba gave Ms Khelif and Ms Lin “sudden and arbitrary”. But its replacement criterion for boxing was merely what sex is listed in an athlete’s passport.
Thank you, I’d thought that was the case but with them correcting that statement, I was then wondering if something had changed. The IOC aren’t testing female boxers for DSDs and it isn’t part of their eligibility criteria.
Glad she won, that Hungarian boxer is an awful person. She won easily enough today, so now guaranteed a bronze I think. She would have been due to face the Olympic champion but she lost her bout, so will re-face the fighter she beat in the SF of the worlds last year (before she got DQed). Probably will at least make the final now.
Glad she won, that Hungarian boxer is an awful person.
Almost makes up for the copious bile and vitriol she was sharing to thousands beforehand. Almost. To be fair, apparently she was very generous in defeat.

IBA letter to IOC, June 2023: Boxer's 'DNA was that of a male consisting of XY chromosomes'
PARIS – The athlete who has ignited a worldwide controversy in Olympic women’s boxing was disqualified from the 2023 International Boxing Assn. world championships in New Delhi after two tests, one in India amid that tournament and a prior test in Turkey in May 2022, “concluded the boxer’s DNA was that of a male consisting of XY chromosomes,” according to correspondence the IBA sent in June 2023 – more than a year ago – to the International Olympic Committee.
The June 5, 2023, letter, spotlighting Algeria’s Imane Khelif, reads, “This situation epitomizes the importance of protecting safe sport, and the integrity of sport in which the Olympic Movement is jointly committed to.”
3 Wire Sports has seen the letter and the tests.
The documents shed new light on the controversy enveloping Khelif and, as well, Yu Ting Lin of Chinese Taipei that has erupted at these Paris 2024 Games.

article said:On Friday, at the daily IOC news conference, spokesman Mark Adams had this to say, referring to IBA testing at the 2023 New Delhi tournament:
“We have no knowledge of what the tests were. They were cobbled together, as I understand, overnight. There was a change in the results so we don’t want to go there. I think if you start working on suspicions, then we’re in trouble.”
article aslo said:To reiterate, the [June 2023] letter refers solely to Khelif. It directs the IOC to the attached lab reports.
He probably saw a piece of paper that said, "Imane is male, love the IBA", like most people arguing she is a male.I'm a bit confused. How has Abrahamson seen the tests? I was of the understanding that the IBA had not released the tests.

but
Abrahamson is claiming to have seen the actual tests though:From what I understand he is basing this article on letters from the IBA. Now as outsiders we don't know what is true or not and the IBA hasn't tried to make things clear but I'm a bit bemused by the idea that they did tests in 2022 and only got the results nearly a year later but somehow managed to get the results of a second test within days if not hours in 2023.
Yet on this page we have an interview with the CEO of the IBA in which he says that those tests remain confidential and so refuses to reveal their contents. My guess is that Abrahamson has seen the results, but not the test.Article said:3 Wire Sports has seen the letter and the tests.

With regards to the 2022 tests the IBA says that the results were available by the end of the 2022 World Championship, so I don't think it took a year. It does seem a bit odd that they would not act on those results though, then wait till midway through the next years competition before deciding to retest.
From how I read it in the article, it seems as if the IBA has allowed him to see the letter & tests to show him what they were & that they were sent to the IOCI'm a bit confused. How has Abrahamson seen the tests? I was of the understanding that the IBA had not released the tests.
The New Delhi lab reports for both Khelif and Lin say the same thing:
Result Summary: “Abnormal”
Interpretation: “Chromosomal analysis reveals Male karyotype.”
A karyotype means an individual’s complete set of chromosomes. Females have XX chromosomes, males XY.
The lab results for each athlete depict the XY chromosomes photographically.
To this part, it seems as if Abrahamson is saying that there’s no way the IOC hadn’t seen the tests, despite what they’ve said.

The guy is literally considered "the" reporter on the Olympics.Love the addition of the ‘highly respected’
This is basically: ‘trust me, bro’
The guy is literally considered "the" reporter on the Olympics.
But go on son
Cool beans.I’m sure he is the best of the best, but my point remains. All he said basically boils down to: ‘trust me, bro’. That is: sweet feck all.
Hope she wins it.
From what has come out since, he seems a complete numpty if he just believed whatever they fed him, because they themselves seemingly don't even know what tests these two women failed. From how I read it in the article, it seems as if the IBA has allowed him to see the letter & tests to show him what they were & that they were sent to the IOC

Well then the question comes up of if the IBA falsified the chromosomal reports from the CAP accredited & IOC certified lab in New Delhi… which, if they did, then that should be the final nail in the coffin for the IBA.From what has come out since, he seems a complete numpty if he just believed whatever they fed him, because they themselves seemingly don't even know what tests these two women failed.

nah man, didn’t you know he’s literally considered "the" reporter on the Olympics?
Faked ot not, the fact that IBA has been as vague as they have been, giving differing and contradicting statements regarding the type of tests, while also repeatedly implying that the two women might be trans, should have had normal people taking a step back.Well then the question comes up of if the IBA falsified the chromosomal reports from the CAP accredited & IOC certified lab in New Delhi… which, if they did, then that should be the final nail in the coffin for the IBA.
