Ole's press conference vs City

I’m glad that he can just move on after such a complete humiliation by our fiercest rivals. A win over a terrible Spurs side and a draw against Atalanta and he’s safe and secure again! Hopefully we can build from this and mount a real challenge for that last top 4 spot now…

Moan moan moan, Ole this, Ole that, moan moan moan.

Can you ever remember a press conference pretty much anywhere that wasn't just standard bullshit and waffle?

Jesus, some of you lot are going to have aneurysms if you carry on getting angry and shit like this.

It is only a PR exercise because the board are protecting Ole.

I remember LVG and Jose conferences, they were fiery, those were not PR exercises, difficult questions were asked to them.
PR exercise is about the height of it for most press conferences. By now no-one is expecting a Gettysburg address or Third Soliloquy type speech.

Moved on from Liverpool defeat and we have had a good week?

How come I have completely different feeling? Are we talking about the same Man Utd?

Weirdly enough, every Pep conference is the opposite. He gets slammed with incisive questions.

There's not a single conference where Pep isn't exasperated by some probing angle. Ole definitely gets it easy. Guaranteed.

Nah man, YOLO. People are pissed because he's acting like everything is sunshine and lollipops when we are playing absolute garbage and stuttering through a season that we were expected to make a title challenge.

"He's still a doubt, but hopefully, he can come back in tomorrow and say he's ready... I would expect him to be ready, put it that way but I can't promise you."

Hopefully he doesn't mean that the way it sounds... But its tough to give Ole the benefit of the doubt when it comes to injuries.

To be fair Victor supposedly played though a painful back problem for a good chunk of last season so that could be the root of Ole's comment here.

The Lindelof quote is a bit concerning, especially with Varane coming back from injury to immediately getting injured, and Maguire playing while cleary unfit.

"we have to work hard and suffer a lot but we have to believe, trust ourselves because we're at home and have had a couple of good few results." What the feck? Suffer? It's like we're the minnows playing a giant. We're feckin United. And a few good results? Lately? Really?

His only desire is to continue to be paid massive amounts of money and he will say anything to make sure the board has an excuse to keep him

"work hard and suffer" - it means you have to put in effort and feel the burn not just show up like we're fecking United and expect the points. The league isn't like that anymore, it's not 1998.

What a delusional post yet again.

There's two main reasons why his press conferences are boring and a tiresome listen.

First, the club is trying to manage the questions to a level which political parties would blush at which is of course helped by myopic logic as seen in your post.

Second, our manager is completely clueless when it comes to the technical aspects of the game, as demonstrated by his answers. If he ever gets asked about tactics, he just talks about passion, desire and United DNA or other some such studipity.

So don't come here playing the top red when the press conferences are a symptom of just how inept he is.

Please give us a break.

"We've moved on"
What does this actually mean?
Maybe he should've said we still have a massive mental blockage after the Liverpool defeat and will now brick ourselves every game.

You take a defeat on the chin, (hopefully) learn from it and move on. Or let's just overanalyse every sentence...

Ole stumble upon 532 system that worked against Spurs. But didn't work against Atlanta.

And now so many CBs are injured so is he going back to the formation we played against Liverpool? God please help us.

But isn't that obvious and the case for literally any game in the prem? Our manager should be talking with confidence, bravado and authority. He is lowering fan expectations so when we inevitably get our asses handed to us he can say "we gave it a good go but didn't get the luck. Fine margins."

Yes but have we moved on from Leicester, or Villa, or Everton. One win after such a bad run of results is not moving on. He clearly believes because we won against Spurs he is safe again. The scary thing is that our board probably think the same.

What does a Manchester derby mean
"It's a special one, the last time we had a Manchester derby with fans in the stadium the atmosphere was electric, everyone will still remember that one more than dark moments we had.
"When Scott (McTominay) scored that goal in the extra time it was a special moment. It's a one-off game, have to start on the front foot, start ready, because a lot depends on who gets on the front foot

So that means Mc is playing with Fred

Rapahel Varane injury latest
"With all the technology now you expect him to be out for four or five weeks with the scans with the pictures we've seen of him. It's a blow for us. Raphael has come in and been really really influential. Eric came in last time and was excellent. That's why we have a big squad and cope with absentees."

That's why you play a half fit Maguire and rush back Varane

What else would you expect him to say really? Press conferences the land over are 99% heavily media trained people regurgitating banalities and cliches that somehow give some in here aneurysms and stoke bizarre conspiracy theories about all of the nation's press being in the idea of taking it easy on Ole for a laugh.

Nail, hammer.

I agree that press conferences can generally be a load of nonsense, but every other interview with a rival manager I've watched includes some form of tactical analysis. Ole avoids it at every approach and resorts to the whole passion spiel. It's so infuriating to listen to because you know it's evidence in how we play.

I admit I was convinced in Ole at one point and really hoped he'd kick on, but we've been dire this season but for those individual moments. His pressers are so uninspiring and highlight nothing of our playstyle which is seemingly non-existent.

We appear to go into a lot of matches with the attitude of we're fecking United and end up dropping points because teams don't roll over for us anymore. So it doesn't seem that obvious, no.

"We've moved on"
What does this actually mean?

That it happened but it serves no one any function to dwell on it. There is no way everyone here doesnt know that's what he meant.

A bit like showing up for work complaining about last weeks bad effort instead of focusing on the current week.

Hope he starts Sancho and Donny gives them a chance to make a name for themselves. If we play Mcfred again we will be flattened.

He's right. Tom Cato might be an Ole sympathizer but can't dwell on bad results too long, only serves to make you less confident.
