Ole: "We should look for quality players that can improve us. We’ve got to think about longevity"

Reading between the lines, hopefully this means no more Sanchez/Falcao/Schweinsteiger type signings and back to proper Man Utd signings instead - young, pacy and skillful.

Like Robin Van Persie ? Or Vidic?

Some fans need to consider proven quality and experience beyond just youth. We have young players, and players who act like young players (Er, JLingz...). Have they the quality we need to genuinly compete in the CL / Prem ??

We need soms top players..not just players who show glimpes and can run fast on the break when playing away.

Macguire. Bale (obviously huge wage drop). Kane. SMS @ Lazio. The full back at Palace. Those are the players I want to see genuinely linked to United.

Vidic joined United at 24.

I think some are being a little harsh on bale.
He actually ticks a lot of boxes we need.

Wages and injuries. He's on more than Sanchez is,he's injured as much

We signed Pogba, Zlatan, Bailly and Mhki (who was bundesliga POTY) in and around one season, that is a quality window but we didn't have the system or the know how to unearth the full capability of the players. For better understanding if we signed Mane and Salah would they be as prolific for us as they are for Liverpool ...

Zlatan - old CF who slowed down our pace. Some goals and a character, but he shouldn't be able to offer more. We used him properly. He tended to miss some easy goals.
Bailly - inexperienced CB with good potential, says it all. Doesn't mean he would fulfill the potential
Mhki - seriously? The way to use Mkhi is let him scratch his balls while defending, so as to have the energy to explode against a useless Budensliga defense. ...see --> Kagawa. And this is the reason Sancho may be over-rated , he plays for a Budensliga.

I don't know about Salah, but we miss an right inside forward like him. I am sure about Mane though, cause his athleticism will not let him down in EPL. It was a transfer amiss, but some people prefered the Fellaini way.

Is there anyone in Ligue 1 right now that we should be seriously looking at, apart from Ndombele?

Mainly his teammates, Aouar, Dembélé or Mendy. At Monaco I would say Gelson Martins(on loan from Atletico), Badiashile and Rony Lopes is turning into a good consistent player. Someone like Lala has been good for two seasons but I want to see him in Europe, his age isn't a good sign.

Vidic joined United at 24.

Exactly. Is that signing a 'young' player? Stam was 26. These are good ages for United to buy players. Both Vidic and Stam had plenty of good experience prior to joining United.

And you obviously ignore RVN.

I don't get your point 24 is considered young. The players mentioned by Adam were 29 or older. There is basically an entire contract between them and one team cycle. While United did purchase older players like Van Der Sar, Sheringham or Van Persie, United also had a policy to not give long contracts to player entering their 30s.

Mandy looks brilliant. Not much on Badiashile on YouTube
What type of player is he

Badiashile is a 17 years old CB, he is good on the ball, has good positioning and has a little bit of pace.

He actually ticks a lot of boxes we need.

The big important question is obviously one of fitness but if you offered me an injury free couple of seasons I'd take him in a heartbeat. Big game performer and extraordinary talent.

In general I think the last couple of games has shown that our main issue is a character one, I think the talent is of a good level but hardened winners capable of dragging them along when things aren't going well are missing. Pogba, martial and rashford all needed an in-game bollocking yesterday, they were over playing on the ball and under playing off of it but there was no one there to dig them out and focus them.

Player personality is an underrated quality when people discussed transfers but it was at the heart of every saf signing and with good reason
We don't need Bale's personality just like Liverpool didn't need it. He's a huge risk and that's why we should avoid signing players like him. Those two clubs signed mane, salah, sterling, sane etc as their wide players. That's the kind of RW signing we need. A bad big name signing would again set us back like Sanchez did. The waryness of posters is logical imo.

People keep saying Wan Bissaka. Would be completely nonsensical to sign another young RB when Dalot is already fancied.

A veteran RB is what we should be looking at but that's probably going to be Young for next season with Dalot taking the reigns as the number 1.
God no.

We got one good season out of Van Persie and that was it. He was a good signing in that regard but ended up hanging around taking up a squad spot that could probably have been been better used.

I absolutely agree that United need some quality signings but I'd much prefer a Pogba to a Schweinsteiger.

Please God not Bale.

Unbelievably crass comment

Let’s get rid of all experienced and committed Utd players then
I really don't get all the hate Young gets around here. Sure we need to upgrade, but the guy has been hardworking, loyal servant to the cause. I'll miss him.

If Arsenal finish 3rd, Spurs win champions league and Chelsea win Europa cup then we will miss out the champions league next season even we finish 4 this year. its unlikely this can happen but its worth pushing for 3rd place finish after the international break

No doubt Ole squeezed a lot from every player in last 3 months but the cracks are re-appearing again. A timely reminder to everyone that we need to inject more quality to this side. so its good that this happened against Wolves rather having a purple patch until end of the season and then players showing inconsistency once next season starts. We can really plan now.

Rashford, Martial, Pogba these are kind of players really excel when things are happening around them.so adding few good ones who can change the results on their own could help current players

Ole is talking about quality and we all know what we need so hopefully with 3/4 top class players and with that sure we will be in a better situation

The one box Bale doesn't tick is that he really really doesn't want to join us. It will be a Di Maria, even worst, and after that, he'll end up at PSG or China. Or the MLS.

Yes please. Although I would prefer Bruno Fernandes over Teleimens. We are too reliant on Pogba to produce goals from midfield, we have enough nullifiers in Herrera, Matic and McTominay.

Is Fernandes a Lampard type?

I agree with you.

I don't agree with fans that think this 'bale is Sanchez' viewpoint.

Sanchez was out of form for 2 seasons playing under a team that was built to get the best out of him. People thought that he was simply unhappy whilst in reality he couldn't put the ball in to the net and lost some substance he only really carried for a season or two.

Bale is different. He is unhappy at Madrid & is hardly getting on with his players or fans. Bale is not placed in to the team that aims to get the best out of him & is still played as a RM that he could only pull out when he was at his peak form.

I watch how Bale plays for Wales regularly & he plays a different type of football. He plays this static leading role in attack or even off another striker where he controls the ball more and either brings others in to play for takes shots much more than attempting to run down the touchline 24/7.

Him coming to united and playing as a forward off the right is what we need to take the sole responsibility off players like Martial & Rashford who should be players scoring 12-15 goals around a footballer who scores 20. I think Bale can do that almost straight away if we aim to get the best out of him.

If we stick him at RW and ask him to go up and down playing a role he was always sub optimal at - then I'm sure that will lead him to having unnecessary injuries and be a disappointment. Play him as a RF or a False 9 then I think he has a few years left I'm Jim being a striker for us.

Rashford/Martial - Bale/Lukaku
Sancho/Lingard

Sancho & Lingard makes the runs off the centre out wide to complete a fluid front 3 on the ball - leading to creators always being wide and attackers always in the centre.

We should focus our recruitment on getting some of these exciting English prospects.

Sancho, Rice, CHO, etc.

The upside if they come off is huge. You have the position filled for a decade olus potentially.
