Two things can be true at the same time.
  1. It is an incredibly difficult and stressful job and Ole is doing his best.
  2. Ole’s best is not good enough for a club the size of Manchester United.
Not sure why you think it’s either or.

I didn't say it was either or. In fact I'd assume most people in stressful career choices are sacrificing things for it, that's how it works. I just don't like that they decide to leak it around the same time the team is playing poorly. It spews "please guys we're trying so hard".

I don't normally believe much The Sun prints, but neither of these would surprise me - and I did wonder where the change came from in the second half against Atalanta...

  • Cristiano Ronaldo gave his stunned team-mates the hairdryer treatment after they went 2-0 down against Atalanta.
  • Bruno Fernandes told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to alter his tactics after Manchester United's first-half horror show against Atalanta.

Lads. Tuchel won't be at Chelsea by the end of next season and they'll start the whole merrygo round off again? Is that really what you want? A new manager every 2/3 years? No identity? They are a fake club. As are City and PSG.

True clubs and true fans understand tradition. There's a right and honourable way to win. If you don't understand that you don't understand United.

Success brings longevity. If you do well, win trophies, win leagues, you earn the right to be at a club. Look at pep, Klopp, simeone. They've all won things and subsequently have stayed on at their respective clubs and will remain there for the foreseeable future.

Spending close to a billion quid, with no discernible style of play, winning the square root of feck all, why should you be granted tenure at a club??

You are still pining for the old romance.
Fans may still look at their teams and pine for the old ways but they are over.
All of these clubs are dead. The old way is gone. Businesses is what they are and fans are customers.

So you can forget about honourable. That's just the way modern football is.
United may earn money in different ways theses days but they exist purely as a business, not to entertain you or me.

Surely a WUM?

At some point someone in the club has to identify a suitable replacement and help Ole and his non-performing backroom staff move on. It will be an all-win scenario for everyone involved with the club.

Times are a-changing. You can still keep the identity and culture of the club while moving on from managers. Chelsea can do it because their identity is Roman and Marina Granovskaia (who has been f'in brilliant). We need our Marina equivalent.

Right? Why would you want someone who won 3 CLs, 2 La Liga titles, and 2 Spanish cups in 4 years of management?

I personally prefer a manager who wins nothing in 3 years and has less points per game than Mourinho yet somehow dupes most of the fanbase to think that things are so much better now  If that is not skill, I don't know what is.

It's puzzling how some "fans" prefer to have a manager who has a losing track record, rather than a proven winner.
I prefer winners and like to win, myself.
Even though we have one of the best squads on the planet, we go into games as the underdogs - this alone should be grounds for an immediate replacement.
To win a trophy, Ole would probably ask the Glazers to buy spend another £Billion to bolster the squad.

Forget the Zidane nonsense...won't improve us much as he's only managed an excellently talented Madrid team. I previously wrote to the club begging...begging them to hire Tuchel with various reasons why. The best managers I would go for are former Bayern Manager Hansi flick, or the Southampton manage Ralph Hausenhuttl. Both attended same famed coaching academy as Tuchel, play similar styles. Their teams are extremely well drilled.

What do you think of Ten Hag?

It’s still stupid as a general expression. Every manager will at some point be sacked or quit. Including all the successful ones.
It's not stupid at all. You are taking it extremely literally. Reading between the lines it conveys that there is an inevitability about a not too distant parting of ways with the manager in this specific context. In that instance there would be no logic in hanging onto a manager and only delaying the inevitable.

You could argue against the premise with something like 'there aren't better managers available right now so immediately is not a good solution' etc. But hey I guess that's why there's also a poll...

Anyone know what this right and honourable way to win is? Does it involve a sword?

Man Utd next five PL matches....not a good time to be in poor form. If he gets this team through that schedule anywhere near the top of the table, good on him.
Yes, and it's possible because the team is unpredictable. I think they could still surprise us.

Hopefully tomorrow, but it’s not gonna happen.

oh and before “you’re not a real fan if you hope for United success rather than prioritizing giving endless chances to a guy we happen to like” brigade jumps in, I don’t wish us to lose, even more so against Liverpool, but looking at the shiteshow we were putting this season, we’re most likely to lose it. I’d take 0-5 battering with a sack of Ole over an easy 0-1 with prolonged misery, though.

He is here until the end of the season. He has credit in the bank from what he has done up to this. Also, who replaces him?

How the feck can we be looking at A team like Chelsea and persist with Ole it's actually beyond explanation.

He bettered our squad and fair play to him for that but we won't be winning anything big under him so why continue?

Do you think that’s PR or just a genuine recounting of what he’s been told? Even if you believe that they’re all utterly rubbish at their jobs, is it that hard to believe that those jobs are incredibly demanding and that they, as human beings, could struggle with that, even if you consider them to be in an extraordinarily privileged position?

It's the same demands that coaches at every other club have so why should we feel sorry for ours. If they can't take the heat they should get out of the kitchen and find a new profession. They get very well paid for what they do.

Ole won't be sacked so easily. He's a club legend. And as a manager, he brought the club to Champ league consistently.

This year, the club is even challenging for premier League, champ league and other trophies. He will be given time unless he goes out of competition prematurely.

what has he won that the others have not won?
What are you on about? What others? I merely said that he will likely get to see out the season. I also asked who out there would replace him. I am not advocating for him to stay, merely voicing an opinion. This place!

Zidane would not live in England even if you offer him 50 million year

Conte not compatible with the “project”

Nice that we have someone here who knows Zidane personally to the point of knowing where he would like to live. Can you give me his number ? I want to ask him something.

Who better than someone obviously massively under qualified for the job?

He doesn't have credit in the bank from last season, not after the CL embarrassment and choking in the EL final.

What he does have is Woodward who's leaving in December and won't under any circumstance consider sacking Ole in his final moments, because it essentially brings his tenure to a close on yet another abject failure.

You can quote me on this at the end of the season but we are 100% already out of the title race, even if there was a chance, Ole wouldn't be the one to drag us into the mix. And just to point out, Tony Pulis could get champions league with this squad ffs. Would probably struggle to go on such an amazing Carabou cup run as Ole has this season though...

I think what really makes me sad is that Ole won't get the best out of Ronaldo for his final couple of years and he will almost be wasted. Its like giving a Ferrari to a learner driver who can't get out of 2nd gear.

The next few games will be a tribute to those who think we need to give the acid a chance before deciding drinking it maybe wasn’t the best idea

I wish it wasn't us in this situation but some other top club that had our exact squad with Ole as manager and he was fired for Big Sam. I just want to see what would happen.

You must be joking. We have been knocked out of the easiest one. We are not going to be challenging for any trophies.

Chelsea Liverpool and City just take the piss out of so many teams.

No reason we can't be doing that in a lot of games.
