I think something is going on, the fact no bookies are taking bets after Dean Smith has been sacked is a huge flag something is happening in my opinion. Usually when a manager gets sacked the odds for the next manager are up almost straight away.

Woke up after a bad sleep and find out he hasnt't been sacked yet.

Last night genuinely makes me want to vomit. The most horrible showing at Old Trafford I've seen since 2 weeks ago.

I wish the board could've acted fast just once

Unless you're rip van winkle i don't think you will sleep Ole's tenure off.
Seriously though if our board has an ounce of common sense, they'll do what needs doing in the next 24 hours.

Ole's leaving the club is the easiest part, then what comes after that, the real minefield of bad decision making and overall chaos combined with spending spree hype on every fancy player out there.

Most difficult things still ahead of this club.
I agree, sacking Solskjaer is only half the battle. It's obvious he's not good enough and needs to go, but is the right replacement even available? I wasn't wild about the idea of Conte, but seeing him go to Spurs feels like a huge missed opportunity. I felt the same when Pochettino went to PSG.

The problem was Solskjaer should always have been viewed as a transition manager; someone who could build a team, stabilise the mood, build a good work ethic, and lay the groundwork for someone who would take us to the next level. But somewhere along the line the board got seduced into the idea that he actually could take us to the next level, which most reasonable fans would agree that even for themselves was a pipe dream built on emotion.

It really makes that 3 year contract at the start of the season look mad. They could have held off, and now been in a position where they could actually spend the season doing a proper search for a manager and just let Ole's contract expire at the end of the season with a bit of fanfare and a thank you. Instead, we'll have more negativity and probably end up panicking and snapping up whoever is next available, regardless if they're a good fit or not.

Mates, we’re all guilty of overlooking the obvious. Ole has been serving the board homemade biscuits every morning.

I don't think anyone takes us seriously anymore as a football club. Whether it's our current manager who they all want us to keep or our managerial hiring or our plan less signings, we've become blockbuster news for the amusement of the football world really.

This is flawed logic. What will get him sacked is the accumulation of bad results and humiliating defeats. Just because 5-0 Liverpool was the lowest point doesn't mean he can go and lose like that every game for the rest of the season because "well it's technically no worse than the Liverpool result so we'll have to keep him". Getting humiliated by both Liverpool and City is much worse than just Liverpool, so that could cause the board to pull the trigger. Jose was sacked way before top 4 was gone mathematically because it became obvious the season was all downhill and we had no chance of rescuing top 4 under him, the same could easily happen to Ole over the coming weeks. By all media reports he was very very close to the sack after Liverpool, it seems likely a couple of powerful influences (Ferguson) have convinced them to wait and see how the team bounces back before making the decision.

However, if we lose tomorrow I suspect it will be a more narrow scoreline loss, and combined with the somewhat positive results against Spurs/Atalanta I see him staying in a job. Add to that our board are utterly clueless as to who to appoint as next manager or who they could get as caretaker, they're basically just delaying and praying he turns it round so they don't have to face the fact they have no plan.

If we lost 6-0 tomorrow he'd obviously be gone over the international break. For who though I'm not sure, they should bring in the best interim possible to try rescue the bare minimum this season and then appoint permanent manager in the summer.

It pains me to say this but I think he will survived another humiliation defeat by City. So far the board say nothing and business as usual. I have come to a point where I think if we were to lose to Watford he will still be safe.

Jose got sacked because he lost the players. Ole hasn't and he still has a chance to get 4th place trophy. The incompetent board will only sack him once it's mathematically impossible.

2013/14 was probably key moment to appoint proper manager. What came from then to today are just set of chained events of bad decision making leading up to even worse decisions. Hard to tell who could stop the avalanche now. Everyday sparks interest in another name, which just makes it more complicated.

I look on strikers he signed and it's Ighalo, Cavani & Ronaldo. So far only Ronaldo is available to play every game on highest level, while Cavani so far is almost non-existant this season. Safe to say he didn't lay much of groundwork in that department, new manager will still have some building ahead of him, including getting stable form from Greenwood & Rashford.

Negativity will always be there, I doubt anyone will even fully trust the new manager without looking through past appointments. Again 2013/14 was perfect time to avoid almost all of it, including the division inside United fanbase.

Not appointing Conte or Ten Hag is just a small detail in comparison to last 8 years. It will happen again, not because of negativity, but because nobody can or have strength to stop it at this stage.

Liverpool throwing Gillett & Hicks in the bin, then appointing Klopp who raised money through selling 25+ players took long years just to start laying any groundwork. Ole looks like feeling okay with giving contracts to questionable players at the moment. Apart from few interesting academy prospects and exciting signings we have nothing in terms of challenging.

Wondering what PR stunts the club can come up with now during the international break. Doubt United supporters will just look at training session clips and be genuinely assured of anything.

The club needs a clear out from old useless players to CEO. The whole lot. Ole is just the fall guy for an incompetent group of people.

Yup. In hindsight, Kopp was the one. Oh God.

Klopp was an example, there are most likely other managers who are confident what football system they want to devote their careers to... It just needs totally new chain of events for United coming from decision making at the top.

Norwich have higher standards than us

Leicester sacked Reineri, after won the fecking League the season before, and selling their best player. That's the standard.

But here we are. 2nd with no hope winning the League last season, but the manager could still hang on to that.

Ole at the wheeeel!!! Clap..clap..clap..!!

What's more important than a guy who 'gets the club' though?

His
Pochettino being mentioned again. It is destined to happened. Hopefully, he doesn’t win the champions league with psg and their players over their down tools like mbappe has been doing with his finishing so the board can hire him this summer.

on topic of mate fc, Neville ask who can they get hire now. That is having a laugh. There are many managers that can do a job better than Ole as caretaker at the moment. I don’t believe Neville is watching us play.
His last few defenses of ole have been disgraceful …. I get you played with him, but ole is way in over his head

The CEO didn't train or set up the formation week-in week-out.

What's "get the club"?? Not hiring old players like ROnaldo and Cavani, or developing our own players instead of buying ready made one like "Varane"?? winning trophies? play exciting football??

Even Dalglish would "get United" if you pay him enough.

No murmurings at all about his job being under threat?

Seems 0-2 wasn’t a bad scoreline for the board to consider it. The performance, had they watched it, certainly should have been.

I have no doubt that we will go for Poch and regret that decision again…..

Oh I am not defending Ole. He is probably the most useless one of them all.

Oh, sorry misread your post. Agreed that we should do a massive clear up. But hey.. sadly it's up to this clueless Club owner.

I’ve looked at the 16 games we have played this season and the last 16 games of last season to get a bigger overall picture of the mess we are in under Ole and his self proclaimed progress. It is certainly not pretty reading.

P32 W16 D5 L11

F59(1.83 gpg) A46(1.43 gpg)

Only 6 clean sheets.

Top 4 is absolutely not a certainty as we are currently looking at a 57 point finish based on league results over this period, which would get us 7th-11th based on previous three seasons. Ironically this was the point tally we were on after 34 games when Moyes was sacked in April 14.

Ole 100% has to do one asap.

The club and the fans need to move away from the “United DNA” mentality. We were blessed to have great managers in the past, but how things were in the past doesn’t work in modern times.

I rather us be called a sacking club and change managers till we find success, then get humiliating results week in week out with the “United DNA” intact.

Basking in past glory was what stagnated Liverpool for 3 decades, and we are oredi approaching our first.

"my goal in that 99's CL Final is huu..ge.... Let me tell you again how it was from different angle.."
"feck me boss,.. I had 5 CL trophies, and scored 4 goals in 5 Finals".

It’s absolutely silent on social media I’ve just woken after falling asleep early last night and generally thought id be seeing stories of Ole on the verge of getting sacked.

Surely he can’t carry on after this

Ole has had vastly better performances against Pep with vastly inferior squads. He's completely lost his own ability to manage and set up a team.

The liverpool game was the end of his managership, now the club are a deer in headlights. He has no idea what he's doing, has no trust or faith in himself and the club won't act. The deluded glazers probably thought this was their "tampa bay moment" in the PL. They got Ronaldo (brady) leading the team, bolstered in other areas and now have shit the bed because the manager is...quite simply put...crap.

Ole is still a club hero as a player, but as a manager he is a turd that won't flush. I will be seriously depressed if he is not fired tomorrow.
