Give it Giggsey till the end of his trial
So what are you saying? he's getting sacked shortly? This isn’t 1991. Any fan who puts any stock in contracts meaning anything are too busy attending their eleventh timeshare presentation sales pitch of the week to notice.
I lowkey cringe every time they sing his name after a player scores. It's actually sad.
That's what could go wrong.Andy Cole assistant manager
Not that I recall. The difference was the ruthlessness of the owner and the ambitions of the club.Do we think we will get to a point where the fans turn? Did the Chelsea fans turn on Lampard, who's a club legend also, but was out of his depth?
Are they still singing the Ole song despite out current "performances?"
I think if this was a manager with no history to the club, they would have at least started to turn
It’s not gonna happen, agreed. Wishful thinking. The guys we just offered extensions to, and who recently signed said extensions? Nah
So 90 percent saying sack now. Am I remembering wrong or did it take very, very long for that consensus to occur with any of our last three managers? Surprised, pleasantly, to see the fanbase uniformly agreeing on this.
Surely Brighton is the more unexpected one.I can’t believe that Nuno’s spurs, who are supposedly a shambles, and who have already faced Arsenal away and both City and Chelsea at home, are actually above us in the table
This is Spurs who we’ve outspent for years, whose superstar and main striker is completely out of form, and who hired their 78th choice manager.
Surely Brighton is the more unexpected one.
It’s really not though, look at the volume of deadwood we had to get rid of before having to pretty much strengthen every area except GK and LW.I think the “rebuild the squad” argument is thinner than it looked a few months back. Theres a lot of quality there now for sure, but the squad is extremely unbalanced. Not just the lack of midfielders, but too many attackers who by design aren’t hard workers. Too many Nani’s not enough Ji Sung-Parks. A new manager coming in isn’t just getting a new midfielder or two in. They’re going to have to rebalance the attack too. So while we’re definitely better off than we were, we’re not in a position where one person slots in and it’s done. We’ve got quite a bit more wheeling and dealing to do.
In all of his time here public backing hasn't just been for show. They mean it, they won't pull the plug after that renewal. Is this even close to our worst runs of form? The delusion at our club's board level is strong. It's not a fluid situation or anything, they firmly believe they have the right guy.Usually the death knell for a manager but not this time when the board are too sentimental to pull that trigger
With the form we're in Spurs or Everton look more likely to clinch 4th. Forget about trophies. The team Ole has at his disposal anything other than winning competitions is a failure. The top four argument is redundant given this squad. Ole either makes use of the resources at his disposal or he will squander it.
Not a chance this is his last week. I can see us losing the next 5 games and he will still be there. Match going fans will chant his name and all will be seen as a blip.
I honestly think he will be here until we can’t get top 4. Even then, he may still be here.
Lampard got sacked before fans really had the time to turn on him like us with Ole, I think.Do we think we will get to a point where the fans turn? Did the Chelsea fans turn on Lampard, who's a club legend also, but was out of his depth?
Are they still singing the Ole song despite out current "performances?"
I think if this was a manager with no history to the club, they would have at least started to turn
Chanting his name during the match doesn’t mean wanting him to stay on as manager. 90% of people have voted for him to get sacked, you think none of them are match going fans. More attention should be paid to fans post match reactions and comments.
I'm an Eagle Scout but I don't remember that policy. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be enforcing it myself. It's a good policy that I, as a scout, agree with and help enforce.
Sack him now. Bring in Zidane.
Honestly doubt he's getting sacked anytime soon. He will be continue to be bailed out by individual moments of brilliance. The next run of wins and everyone will move past this. The cycle of football.
I think it'll be done in the next international break. Depending on how ugly things turn out against Liverpool, City and Chelsea.
Jose didn't finish behind the high press but rather finished behind a coach who implements a possession heavy play style backed by a nation state.LVG and Jose did a shit job for the same reasons.
Firstly they played outmoded football. Jose finished second to a high press team. If City and Pep didn't exist he would have won the league. But they did exist and he didn't.
Secondly the Glazers didn't allow them to buy enough good players in the right positions. Instead player purchase was done by a committee dominated by accountants.
Both these things are still true with Ole and will be true with his successor most likely. And this is why sacking him might make a short term difference and salvage a top four place, but it will put us back in the same mess in a year's time. And the owners won't care.
Calling for the manager's head like a fantasy football playstation owner or swearing loyalty to him like a top red is to buy into a false narrative of what the actual problem is.
I honestly don't think any team should send out a manager to start a season on his last year contract. If you want a change you do it and pay the money it costs. If not, you extend.Extending his contract really was a baffling decision. What was the reasoning behind it? Having a year left seemed the ideal situation to me. The board could have kept their options open and made it clear to Ole that if he kept showing progress and maybe challenged for the title or a cup then he'd get an extension. Instead, we gave him (and his staff) an extension and are now in the situation we're in. Because of the extension, I don't think there's a chance he's sacked any time soon. The board would essentially be admitting that they don't know what they're doing.
He had one year left on his contract. Lots of managers are on rolling one year contracts. It's not like it is with players who can leave on Bosman's. Besides, there was ZERO risk of him being poached by anyone. It's just another layer of the multifaceted stupidity that is rife in this company, I mean, football club.I honestly don't think any team should send out a manager to start a season on his last year contract. If you want a change you do it and pay the money it costs. If not, you extend.
Ole kind of deserved not to be sacked so the extention was expected.
And I do not think the money it will cost to sack him now, is going to be the thing that makes the club keep him. They will keep him because he is easy to handle.
But the club needs to start looking for the replacement... and that is a challenge Im happy not to be in charge of.
