Still not sacked?
There are tons of examples of managers kicking off right away. Tuchel is one, Galtier took over relegation threatened Lille side that made them 2nd the next year and then won the title over PSG.Gasperini took relegation threatened Atalanta side and made them CL regular side within year or two.On the bolded though, how much time should we give them?
Because I like the idea more of one of the German/Dutch up and comers but they aren’t going to hit the ground running.
No one will take you seriously when you think replacing a manager who’s been in the job for almost three years is “knee jerking”. Also, yes it is a gamble to change a manager at any point. There are unknowns. But keeping Ole is a known quantity now, after almost 3 years in charge, nothing new is coming. He’s not suddenly going to become a different manager or approach things differently.
So should we take a gamble by hiring a proven manager who has shown capabilities to go beyond what Ole can do or should we stick with what we have when it is blindingly obvious that it is lacking?
To me the choice is obvious, but I can see how a more pessimistic take would be, “Jesus, it might even get worse under a new manager! Let’s stick to the mediocrity we know”
Yeah, wasn't that after a bad CL defeat ?Bayern were 2nd in the league on match day 10 when they fired Kovac, who also was champion with them last year.
They fired him, hired Flick and won the treble same year.
They got pummelled by Eintracht in the league, 5-1 after Boateng red early on. Their main competitor - Dortmund were 6th, just for reference.Yeah, wasn't that after a bad CL defeat ?
Why should they have been critical of the club after they both did a terrible job and were backed with a considerable amount of money? They only became critical due to the shit jobs they did.
Our season will be a lost cause if we leave the rot as late as December. It's still October right now. We can still secure top 4 if we act soon enough.
Nothing would be better than him turning things around. At this point I just can’t see it. I hope I will be proven wrong.
I have to respect you having the guts to post when most of his biggest supporters on here have finally seen the light
How on earth those highly intelligent people (Top Management) continuously making mistake after mistake? We have had Moyes, LVG, Jose and Ole in charge who needs different set of players all together every 2 or 3 years. The worst part, all of them play fecking negative football.
Zidane. And then ten Hag next season. Enough of the shite we've been served post Fergie.
I fear for the sanity for anyone thinking Ole is close to the sack. Think we're months away from that unless the next month goes as badly as on paper it looks like it might
The point is though (which is something i agree with) is that even if he deserves to be sacked, its not necessarily the smart thing to do unless we have a viable replacement in place
Ole looks to be out of his depth for sure, but sacking him now "just because" and then ending up with a caretaker could actually make things worse. There is nothing that suggests Zidane wants the job and Conte is mental. I guess we could take a punt at a young manager, but we never know how that is going to work out.
Just to be clear, not suggesting we should be "settling" for Ole for all eternity, but we really need to get our next appointment right and that takes time
Did anyone really think that there was any chance we would compete? Both the eye test and the data (xG etc), was showing that clearly was not gonna happen. While this is generally true, I think when Tuchel became available we were 1st in the league? Nobody except maybe Perez or Roman would pull the trigger at such a point.
I agree that SAF is having a big say on things regards Ole, was going to post something similar recently.
Everybody here knows better than Sir Alex then
I think Sir Alex will only change his stance should a candidate who really suits the club become available, much like sections of the fanbase like myself who are more concerned with making the wrong appointment than we are desperate to get rid of Ole.
The former would be much more detrimental than the latter. I think Sir Alex knows that and he’s more ruthless than anybody when it comes to what’s right for the club.
We could always appoint Teddy Sheringham.
He knows the club.
DNA etc.
Legend from '99, scoring in the final and laying on an assist for another bloke.
Has managed mighty Stevenage and ATK of India.
Has never got anyone relegated.
What could possibly go wrong?
You say Potter has done nothing to suggest he can manage United? What has Ole done prior to getting the job to deserve it?
Yes I agree but supporters en masse don't care about this, and there would have been another revolt because we are sentimentality fc.Did anyone really think that there was any chance we would compete? Both the eye test and the data (xG etc), was showing that clearly was not gonna happen.
He has to go. Really does. Thank you for the rebuild Ole but goodbye. Take Carrick and McKenna with you, too.
Not a chance this is his last week. I can see us losing the next 5 games and he will still be there. Match going fans will chant his name and all will be seen as a blip.I think this is his last week at the club. Such a shame because I feel he's been a positive influence on the team but this is as far as he can go.
What a load of $hit. I don't mind someone being banned for abusive actions but to suggest that "non Man United fans like us" have a higher bar, is taking the piss. You were banned for the insulting language, not for suggesting he should get the sack.
Non Man United fans like us (rightfully) have a higher bar when it comes to that sort of thing
Not a chance this is his last week. I can see us losing the next 5 games and he will still be there. Match going fans will chant his name and all will be seen as a blip.
I honestly think he will be here until we can’t get top 4. Even then, he may still be here.

The poster you quoted said he wants a young and progressive manager not necessarily proven. There are loads of managers that fit the bill and one of them is Potter. I can list you many others that also fit the bill.See I know you're trying to prove some kind of point here but fact is all you're highlighting is why I'm right
We've hired one unproven manager in Ole who's failing and people are suggesting we should hire another
I‘m quite stoned, so this could be on me. But how in the world can there be 90,2% here who want him to leave and 11,6% want him to stay? Again, stoned and all. But those numbers don’t quite add up.

And here I was doubting my maths skills.I forgot to turn off the feature that forces people to only vote for one option, so you may see results that don't add up exactly to 100%. Its not much an issue given that it wouldn't change the fact that about 90% of respondents want him gone.
Not a fecking chance is Southgate going to be anywhere near UnitedOur next manager will be Gareth Southgate. I guarantee it. Depression.
and a few players do need calling out so he’d be right to do so, but Neville has already said Ole needs to deliver a trophy this year following the investment.
The narrative has changed across the piece, including Nev.
Yes but the three years you mention have at least brought continued improvement in the squad and slow progress in league position.
It’s not like he’s started well and gone completely backwards.
On your last paragraph, that’s the fear some of us have. If we were to bin Ole now and hire Conte I would be very concerned the net result of that could be a huge overall negative from the footing we are on now.
We’ve almost completely rebuilt the squad, if somebody like that tore that up and we went in a totally different direction and then he leaves we would be set back years. That’s the concern and it’s a valid one.
It’s multiple choice 200% limit. The percentage adds up above 100%
