So this is the United DNA that Ole inners were talking about? The free flowing attacking football?

“We don’t want Conte as he’s too defensive and doesn’t know the United way”, yet we call this an amazing performance:wenger:.

The Followers of 'The United Way' said Solskjaer would wield the power of the 'United DNA' to cast aside the darkness of Mourinho. He was supposed to bring about a new world: a world where management was no longer rated solely on results, but also on performances. He was supposed to be the chosen one, the one who would bring about entertaining, attacking football.

But it has all turned out to be lies. Solskjaer has shown his mind for tactical ineptness and defence. Fielding 8 defenders at one time was an act more horrendous than any seen in the darkest days of Mourinho. No longer would Manchester United attack like a disorganised rabble, but they would box themselves like sardines. Results have become all that matters. And have the Followers of 'The United Way' resisted? No, corrupted by their belief that time would fix all, they cast aside their morals and ideals of attacking football.

The flexible code of 'The United Way' was changed to suit their agenda: entertainment became an entitlement; the defensive 5-3-2 became the way forward; performances no longer mattered; the youth were a thing of the past; history was rewritten to make Solskjaer look better. And any who opposed Solskjaer were reported to the moderators for questioning.

And that is how people have become so enamoured with the idea of Solskjaer succeeding that they have abandoned the whole reason they wanted him to stay in the first place.

This is pure ignorance

There are players like Cavani that will age out and make room for the younger talent. Sancho will get time on the pitch. Plus Pogba is almost certain to go to Paris or one of the big La Liga clubs this coming Summer. I wish we could ban the windup con artists. @Raoul

So just to confirm… last season all those that said all Ole needed was a RW to challenge were wrong? Because now he’s got one it hasn’t actually made any difference… sometimes ole does come across like the greedy child in the toy shop who just wants toys for the sake of having them.

This was my main thought after today’s win.

It’ll work sometime because we’ll Bruno, Ronaldo + Another is a rather talented 3 but honestly it just plasters over the deficiencies in the coaching.

Sancho is an outstanding talent that we’ve spent a large sum on & OgS hasn’t got a clue what to do with him.
More +
- this squad is very capable to play with 3 at the back
- Imagine how good they can be if the manager is actually a guy who can coach the shit out of this formation
- If Conte come, we might still have a chance at the league

I have seen enough the last 3 years to know that the yo-yo form will continue. He is ok for a Top 4 manager especially with the enormous resources we have. The individual brilliance in the team is staggering. We have Sancho, Pogba, Greenwood and Rashford on the bench.

But he is not the manager to bring us to the top and not capable of a modern attacking style of play. Man Utd should have much higher standard. Not challenging for title is a failure especially in Oct. ChallengingTop 4 is just not good enough.

He asked for 3 years to rebuild to challenge for top honours with attacking football but we are nowhere near the finished article.

The cycle continues. Fluke wins against Atlanta and City and all will be forgiven. The mediocrity will continue into the next season as well. We have seen this crap keep on repeating few times already in 3 years.

Has anyone on here actually changed their stance after 1 result? We set up defensively and then counter attacked well. That's what we did earlier when we got some good results. The moment we have the ball and try to be more progressive, it's still usually shite.

Yes. The “give him more time” ticked up a bit today. Strange.

100% this, the standards and ambition at the club is on the floor. Wins like today are meaningless and only delay the inevitable.

Will the fans who didn't want Conte as he was dour/defensive/boring be happy to see this 3-5-2 continue under Ole if we keep getting results?

Interesting. Who was the manager then, and what was different about the philosophy?

I just saw that the team also lost basically their complete first pick defense and midfield from that time, with Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Walker, Trippier, Moussa Dembéle and Eriksen, either being sold or leaving due to age decline. Some great players in that list, seems to me no wonder they are worse off than they were?

Guess it's because they had to pay for that stadium?
I don’t think the current spurs team has a philosophy, the closest I would say is that it a counter attacking oriented approach, conservative with work rate, and very slow build up play. There is so much different to their philosophy now than it was back then. Under your favorite manager that is doing amazing at psg at the moment, spurs had one of the best work ethic, they were possession oriented, and played with marauding full backs.

Regardless, this was the type of game ole needed to build morale and boost confidence. I feel that he might have had a tougher test at Norwich than he did at spurs today, who was awful and couldn’t even get a single shot on target.

He's clueless, yesterday dosn't change that

This, yesterday was about saving his own arse and he reverted to the most defensive set of players and system he could muster, 5 defenders and Mcfred, the blokes a fraud, his United DNA talk is all soundbite bollocks, want him gone asap... He's basically Jose with a smile at this point. Just get him the feck out of our club.

It’s a bad day because it’s less likely he will be sacked. The Ole out peeps want him to be sacked. Like now.
I don't mind him being in the job if the board is looking out for someone to replace him soon-ish. The problem is we don't know if they're doing that and that's why some want us to lose games so the board is forced to.
We beat a really sorry Spurs team and it was a good performance but we'll see how it goes against City.

This isn't going to change under the next manager. It was poor planning in the summer and now we have to live with it until the window at least.
I think it naturally fixes itself, there’s a group of Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba, Matic, Martial, Lingard who are going to move on/become less involved. Assuming we hire an offensively minded manager, Sancho definitely starts, Greenwood will start, VdB will probably have left if Ole stays.

If they have they actively must dislike our club.

The most damning thing from yesterday is that Setting up 5 at the back & McFred just destroys any semblance of ‘progress’. 3 years and that is what we can do, sit in and be compact against a very poor Spurs team who are about to sack their manager. United way is hot air, Ole lives off sound bites.

Ole is just pointless, he’s not leading coaching so success on the pitch is down to other coaches, his transfers are just as hit and miss as his predecessors, he’s not respected or a big name in management, I honestly don’t see what would change if Phelan, Carrick or whoever was caretaker.

It might do but short term (this season) it's not going to change. Sancho doesn't 'definitely' start under any manager with our options and if he did there would only be complaints that Greenwood, Rashford, Cavani or others aren't playing instead.

At a big club like Madrid players come in and earn their place, sometimes not holding down a place for years. At man United for some reason we have fans like you who cry and cry when Donny van de beek and Sancho are dropped after contributing nothing. People say the manager has lowered fans expectations, if that is true it is most evident in the demands for favourite players to play regardless of form.

I also think he should go but not sure how you can have too many issues with yesterday's performance and result...

I think any other manager who wants an RW puts Sancho there immediately. If he then loses the place that’s fine but you can’t look at how he played for Dortmund and not start him over all the other players we have.

If the manager doesn’t want an RW, I guess he becomes Donny mark II

Yep, fans don't want simeone because of his awful football and fans criticized Mourinho's tactics and player preferences and yet ole had us playing 352 with 3 centre backs, 2 fullbacks, 2 defensive midfielders, 1 creative player in bruno and 2 big target like strikers in their mid thirties Whilst playing on the counter, you couldn't get any more Mourinho with that player selection, formation and tactics but it's excusable when ole does it because united DNA all that rubbish.

Very debatable he's better than Greenwood as RW option, and where would that leave him if he was.

He's a rotation option on the left or right and I'm sure he will be in time.

In an ideal world he wins the next two as well then parts ways by mutual consent and gets to leave with his head held high. But it's starting to look as though he's going to get to waste the whole season. I just hope he gets replaced in time to give someone new the chance to work with the squad over the summer.

This is the level

I'm going to say that this guy hasn't watched Sancho consistently before he moved to United.

Even if we stuck with 3 CB, we could switch to 3-4-2-1 and have Sancho roaming behind the striker with Bruno (he's played behind the striker before for Dortmund), VdB, Lingard, Pogba etc. Or we could go 3-4-3 and have Sancho as LW or RW.

Everyone who thinks that Ole has been given more time is wrong. He has sealed his fate already. The "let's give him till the int break" stuff is just PR. Did you take a look at his gestures when we scored? This guy is gone. He knows it. He just had instructions to steady the ship until negotiations with a new manager are ongoing.

We cannot exclude the possibilities that there were some clauses added - end the shitefest, bring the points and we will pay you the termination fee and legacy remains almost intact.
Feck up, we will throw you under the bus, you will feck the club with these results and we bin you.

So, we have just bought more time. There is no possibility that he remains as our manager after that season. None.

I was just wondering with whom the negotiations are being held currently? Ten Hag, Rodgers, Conte, Potter?

Conte is in, others are more difficult (Potter the easiest) but IF i were the board, I'd try to bring the whole Ajax trinity (VDS, Overmars, Ten Hag) and lock that down. If Newcastle is able to pull this, then we are still doomed.

Agree to disagree. Greenwood is terrible defensively, he’s a striker for me.

As what? He's a winger. We're currently not playing with wingers.

It was self preservation, 3 attack minded players in our 11. It worked yesterday but if thats the result of 3 years in the job, after spending hundreds of millions, my god, its depressing. Fill the team with defenders and grafters and hope for the best. He's an absolute fraud, what comes out of his mouth and what he shows on the pitch couldnt be further apart. We'r where we were with Jose but with a miles better squad of players...Most of which he cant get a tune out of.

If United beat Atalanta and City (which are both very winnable games), Ole will have the same record as Pep this season: 20 points in the league, 3 wins and 1 loss in the CL, out of the League Cup.

Just goes to show that although the season so far has been under par, it's far from unsalvageable.

Sancho gets criticised a lot & it hasn’t happened yet but he wasn’t on the field v liverpool & left Leicester game at 1-1

he wouldn’t have made a big difference but still; let’s chill

The managers needs to fit his big signings in its more incompetence from him really overall

No it won't, we're already through the looking glass. Do you think people on here, in the ground or at board level are going to accept a slide back to the way we've been playing at the start of the season? The only way Solskjaer saves his job now is by going on a huge unbeaten run where we thrash teams, and if he manages that then he deserves to keep his job.

I wish I shared your optimism. He has shown time after time when he's on the verge of the sack he can pull a result out of nowhere. The United Way and DNA he has preached from Day 1 went out the window yesterday in order to save his arse. As much as I enjoyed the performance and result Spurs were so poor it was unbelievable - we couldn't have picked a better opponent after last weeks debacle. Next 2 games will be a true test but yet again he will live to fight another day - rinse and repeat........

Give him a 10 year extension after that

Yesterday’s result shows that the players are still 100% playing for ole even after all the reports last week saying the players like him as a person but he isn’t the right manager… does anyone think if we lose to Atalanta and city he will still be sacked during the international break? I think if city absolutely batter us like Liverpool then he will have to go… I bet conte is watching all our games cheering on the opposition:lol: nuno is now favourites above ole to be the next manager to leave… they had what we had last weekend all the fans leaving early. What I don’t want to happen is have a good run and everyone will have there hopes up for us to then start losing against teams we should be winning and missing out on top 4 with no trophy this season, so when we are after a new manager next season our options will be limited because they’ll be no champions league football.

He’s not going anywhere. Might as well get used to him in charge because it’s going to take something incredibly drastic for him to lose his job.

I've accepted he's here for the season.

If he can survive a 5-0 pasting from Liverpool at Old Trafford, he'll survive anything.

I just hope we fluke a CL run somehow.

Ole Gunnar Sols-Cat, the man with 9 lives. Incredible how he is still in this job. He needs to write a book "How to stay in a job despite being way under-qualified" once he has finished his time with us.
Even the poll works in his favor, allowing the "give him time" answer to increase so that the total adding up to 101,2 % now.

I don't get the ignorance. No one is saying he's a bad signing or he won't live up to expectations. But it is a worry that we spent 2 seasons trying to sign him, yet have no idea on how to play him. It's Manchester United, when you sign a world class player for 80 million you will get critiqued. What do you expect ? You don't sign an 80 million player to wait 1 or 2 seasons so he can eventually start when Cavani leaves. That's an absolute joke and an absolute waste of resources.
