The Athletic don't get much wrong. It's just embarassing to be a United fan right now. No doubt the fact the board will never be able to appoint someone so cheap and happy to have the job and not rock the boat never came into it... I'm out.

I think it's obvious they're waiting to get passed Tottenham an City then he will be gone.

Conte can't take charge properly in 3 days. All about the right timing.

You won't get a full week break until the CL group stage is over or we're knocked out. This is the week.

What are we possibly looking to learn that we don't already know about Ole? Even forgetting the numerous times he could have been sacked in the past, he's already proved this season beyond reasonable doubt that he's nowhere near Klopp, Tuchel or Pep.

We've just been beaten 0-5 by out biggest rivals. Our season is still salvageable. We have one of the best squads in world football. Stop clowning around and get a new manager.

Lads, I know a lot of you want Ole to be sacked, but can some of you try and be a little respectful to the man when voicing opinions? Whether he is the right man for the job or not, he is still an absolute legend at this football club and that should never be forgotten.
Agreed, difficult to understand why people are insulting him. But I think a lot of our fans are immature, insecure and have deeper personal issues that come out when their favourite football team loses.

We might get something against Spurs but I’m certain we’ll lose to Atalanta and lament the decision not to get rid now.

Have a feeling he will hang on until top 4 is impossible which is absolute lunacy.

Not a chance, we have only ever done that with Moyes, and that due to him being the first after Sir Alex and having a 6 year deal, why the feck would we do it now?
LVG won an FA Cup and finished 5th, joint 4th with City when fired. Mourinho was fired mid-season.

It’s a myth due to what happened with Moyes that our board wait until 4th is impossible.

It’s not like he’s doing a Mourinho scorched Earth job on the squad, so despite the understandable anger, I can see why they’d keep him until the succession planning is all wrapped up rather than pissing around bringing the likes of Fletch in as caretaker.
Nor would it be the first time Ole has turned around consecutive bad results with consecutive good ones. He’ll ditch the high press attempt, reduce the space left in midfield and try and scrape some results together. Hopefully by that stage we’ll have the right man lineup to replace him

When we now go on to win the next 3 games and the Board insist hes the right guy still :nervous:

There's been lots of reports about players unrest and how his tactics are not good enough. He's not staying after that

We’ve had space in CM all season due to his 4-2-4, will he suddenly sort it now? I doubt it very much.
He’ll go more defensive versus Spurs I’m sure and City, but at best we’ll get a point from those two games and it’ll be “bye bye”.

Pot calling the kettle. Ronaldo forgets that he went through the exact same with van Nistelrooy as a youngster. Maybe he should keep those feelings private between him and Mason and coach him to improve his decision making.
Isn't that the point. He went through the same thing, so know Mason needs to change his mindset.

We have a manager who isn’t good enough and an equally depressing board that doesn’t know what they are doing. This club is sucking the joy out of all it’s supporters

Doesn't matter, Conte or whoever would go into these games free of expectation. Anything he gets is a bonus, we're heading for 0pts right now.

I’d wager he’s not getting sacked now. Reports have done a full 180 since yesterday afternoon. Defeat against Spurs could be nightmare for him but I think we will get a result. I’m sticking to my Feb/March for him going

Seing reports this morning saying he may be given a chance to redeem himself?

I mean I don't know how he does that, he tried after Leicester and it only got worse.

The worst thing of this all is, the same team v Atalanta, Liverpool and the issues were the same. I know though, against Spurs he will start with Lindelof, Maguire, AWB, Shaw, McFred, Bruno, Rashy and Ronaldo.

The only player he will drop is Greenwood because its easy to, other than that will he make changes? Even if he does, his favourite players will come back after one game. He talks this big game about having a squad but will never use it.

If he's still in charge it will only be because we're sorting out a caretaker and full replacement. Hanging Ole out to dry if he takes the next two games, we're not beating City.

If they really are looking to protect Ole they should have sacked him right now because the anger will only increase among fans, imagine if he produces another cricket score against City (which is more than likely)? Why set him up for an abuse if you’re trying to protect him?

Because the glazers love him. The perfect puppet to front up their gross incompetence and cause them minimum hassle as success is an afterthought.

If that pathetic humiliation wasnt enough to cost him his job, nothing will be. I can’t watch another game of the sh*te we are dishing up, the same mistakes repeated week in/out and increasing toxicity in and around the club. I’m done watching until he’s gone.

Guess the board aren't sold on Conte. Go again next season. No champions league will give a new manager a decent opportunity in the league.

Whilst he is still in charge it’s hard to get motivated or excited for games. You just know we aren’t going to progress under him and you know the football will be terrible.

We’ve got all this world class talent many of whom are in their prime or in the latter years and it’s going to be a wasted season because we don’t have the balls to do something. Real shame.

That's already his legacy now for a lot of fans and it's sad. Especially for the fans that aren't old enough to have seen Ole play for us.

Too many links now to Conte and player unrest coming out. I think he's getting sacked today.

I hope so, I'm very much old enough to remember his signing and what he did for us on the pitch. Which I'm forever grateful for but he must go and should the club decide to stick with him then we truly are sad reflection of a once great football club.

Our name, stature and history is the only thing we have going for us right now. Too much incompetence and lack of ambition flows through the club. No wonder it seems to be the serial winners who are throwing their toys out the pram, whilst the rest seem to shy away and juts hope things improve.

I'm fed up and Ole is a huge part of the reason why. Hopefully we get some positive news today and not a bunch of training pics.

They are not trying to protect him. Its the fact that he protects them (the Glazers and Board) but the fact Ole is getting the flack shows that its working. Ole out first but bigger picture is the Glazers should be gone too.

That’s what I meant. The next 2 games we play dangerous opposition. He’ll tighten up the midfield for those 2 games and hope to salvage a couple of points. He must know if we play as open as we have been we’ll likely get beat by Spurs and our asses handed to us by City.

So with that Athletic article, it sounds like Ole fate is sealed, but yet to secure the new manager signature?

Unlike when Giggs installed as interim for few games after Moyes sacked, Mike Phelan is too integrated part of Ole circle. Sacking Ole, while letting Mike Phelan taking the interim role is worst course of action. Ole and his coaching teams need to be sacked together. Ole is not deserved to be singled out and humiliated alone; nor the influential member of the current coaching staffs should be given authority to manage the players even just for a game or a few. If there would be an interim manager, it has to be a fresh face not actively involved with the current set up.

Of course we want the new manager ASAP, but that's another story, up to whoever in charge of appointing manager (should have been more proactive with all the signs than reacting to latest result, but we have known these men at the club too well by now).

He must know if we play as open as we have been we’ll likely get beat by Spurs and our asses handed to us by City.

He didn’t know versus Leicester and then didn’t realise the same was gonna happen versus Atalanta and then picked the same side against Liverpool.

I think you are giving him too much credit, after this string of results it’s clear he’s lost all control.
