Gap is too much, perhaps if we were 5th and we were needing one club to balls up, but not 2. That's unrealistic.

As for Ole, he was someone I predicted would end up United Manager many moons ago so i'm chuffed he's got his chance albeit for 6 months. Good luck Ole, attack, attack, attack! :drool:
 
I have a crazy left field thought.

What if Solskjær at the end of the interim period, joins as a DoF figure and moves out of management into this role. He wouldn’t be THE DoF, but he’d be a member of the DoF committee, or a technical director as a common terminology with similar clubs.
 
All the best if true. From what I've seen of Ole in the past 5 years, I've gathered that he is as regimented as the class of 92, he's technically clued up and finally he is Scandinavian and carries himself well. Good choice if true.

Naive as it is - that is the way I see it as well.. genuinely just glad that cnut has gone. This season is a write off for me, just want to sit back and enjoy it.
 
The season is absolutely not a write off. We still have the FA cup to play for and a slim chance of the CL. Ole has a real opportunity here, if he can implement his management style effectively he could become a top manager and potentially as a permanent manager for us.

Mourinho has all the credentials to be a Man Utd manager.

Both failed.

Maybe “credentials” to be a Man Utd manager isn’t the be all and end all.

I think in the main you're right; and I have a feeling the lack of pressure to attain top four may see him thriving.

One thing I'm positive of is a massive morale boost to everybody at the club from staff and players to the fans. Ole has a much different aura about him to Jose, it's literally like we've swapped negativity for positivity. Defence for attack. I really wasn't looking forward to the UCL tie vs PSG, not because I expected us to lose (which I did) but because I didn't expect us to properly try and win, it would have been another Mourinho borefest, now the prospect of that game is much more exciting. We'll still most likely lose, but it'll be a much different game with an attack minded manager, especially at OT.

I hope he brings the European night atmosphere back.
 
It will make a change to have someone presiding over the club who doesn't leave a dark cloud looming over us after every press conference but I don't have particularly high expectations. I think it'd be considered a success if he can walk away without ruining his reputation and having brought some of the feel good factor back to the club.

Happy with ole’s appointment though.

Only manager Pogba's ever had problems is José. The same José countless players have fallen out with despite, like Pogba, not falling out with other managers.

Don't let that stop you from calling him "pogbatelli", though. There are so many similarities! Apparently, anyway...
 
From what I've read from Dominic King, Mike Keegan, Ian Ladyman etc is that it'll be more of a joint job Ole will share with Phelan, Carrick, McKenna and possibily Butt.

In which case the possibilities are literally endless for who can become a United manager, when you take away the requirement to actually be a proven top manager.

Except he finished just behind us by about 1 point in the league and was a penalty kick away from winning the CL. Terrible appointment my foot !
 
Nice to have him back. Not going to pretend I'm expecting anything great results-wise, but the football should at least be interesting in the meantime.
 
SO what happens if he does a very good job in the next 6 months? Surely the idea is that this is a working job interview? Otherwise what’s the point.
 
Well, if we were goin to go down the 'cheap and legend route' there's probably no one better. Love Ole, really hope this makes the decision to get rid of him for Poch in the summer more difficult for the board.

Im from Norway and support the biggest rival of Molde. Comparing United and Molde is like a comparison from formel 1 to your average car. I dont think its about what he has done at Cardiff either but more being able to get the players become a unit again. Mid season and the role as caretaker you cant do an all over change and probably no new players either. Advantage is that Pogba, Rashford and other players know him and hes respected. Hope it goes well and the team at least tries their best for the remaining season.
 
I want to be positive about this as i adore Ole but I have to say i'm really worried. People saying it can't get any worse...It can. We could slip further down the table. Really hope he brings some well needed positivity and an attack-minded approach but he will need Pogba and the rest to pull their fingers out and stop taking the piss.

It's not going to be great, but there's no pressure to actually achieve anything, beyond perking up the fans/sponsors/press coverage a bit before the summer.

It can't be any worse than the past 3 months! Let's just get behind him and try to enjoy some football for a change. We're nowhere near as bad as Jose has led us to believe, that's for sure.
 
Gonna be a good singsong on Boxing Day. Hopefully a win to tee us up.
