You are my Solskjaer!

Happy for him and excited about Saturday. Really expecting something from the players now.

An absolute legend has returned. A guy responsible for one of the greatest nights in our history... Even it fails, it starts off as short term and at least we'll have someone who genuinely gives a shit about the club, will try and play attacking football and won't criticise every man and his dog. Let's see how it goes, it can't be any worse.

Has Saf written over it. "He gets the club" but what does that really mean and how does it translate tactically? Will back him nontheless. After seeing how Lampard had Derby playing I'm hoping Solsjaer has some ideas to get us playing good stuff

I'm not expecting a disaterous second half our season. The way I see it, top 4 is done, so us finishing 6th to 13th etc is not going to make much difference. In fact, I'd prefer if we weren't in Europa League at all next season. That's all on proviso that we're actually going to get our shit together and use 6 months that we have wisely. Appoint a good DoF and get Poch, Zidane or Jardim to start off next season with a clean slate.

Yeah, totally agree with you.

Really hope it doesn't go to shit though, Oles legacy deserves more. Shame he's coming in in such shitty circumstances.

Please someone give a brief about his football and his ideas. Hope for attacking football and nothing else. Press high and attack. What worries me his time at Cardiff was too bad!

He did manage our reserves. And he has done well albeit in a poor league with Molde.
He's one of the few former players, still involved in football, who haven't been drawn into this negative war in the media with the club over the last few months. Like Neville and Co.

But he is a respected character, who the fans absolutely love. He'll understand what the fans want and he'll understand how to behave in the benefit of the club.

Meanwhile his reputation as a manager is low enough that the club can focus on looking for his successor without disrespecting him. It gives the board the least amount of pressure to make the right appointment.

I'm all for it, it will be interesting and brings the blood to my veins again. I'm already looking at upcoming fixtures to see if I'm not doing anything at the time of the games. Hasn't been that way for too long now.

How could I possibly tell you that, from my bedroom in East London?

I am confident that if Solskjaer has spent his career elsewhere, and was judged on his merits as a manager, Manchester United would not struggle to get a more qualified manager than him, interim or not. Chelsea have managed to get Hiddink, Benitez and Grant in similar circumstances. If I had said yesterday we should sack Jose and get Ole in I can only imagine the reaction.

But you can tell us from East London that essentially he is a bad appointment? Step out of the light son, Mourinho has gone. Its time to be positive!

He made a mistake when he tried to implement a new modern, attacking style of football in the middle of the season in a side without the quality, and who was fighting relegation.

Actually think he'll do really well here as we've got the players to make his style work (minus the CB's), and he'll frequently play some of the youngsters. Can't fecking wait for the game this weekend.

Yes, I agree with the first paragraph pretty much, he was up against it anyway. Dont with the second though, may get a reaction out of players with a new lease of life, but all this "the players are much better than there performances" is twaddle to e, we have signed really badly. If you said to me who is your favourite United player I would say DeGea, if you said name your second, I would struggle, its sad to say but I dont like most of the current crop ability wise let alone anything else.

I am excited about the likes of Dalot, Greenwood, Goes and even Perreira, so I do hope he plays the youngsters too but Christ who ever takes over in the sumer get rid of Lindelof, Fellaini and Lukaku ffs, cant ever remember three players in a United side at the same time with such poor touch, technique and ability and £140m odd spent on the too

Gareth Southgate is doing very well after being a failed manager. His past experience in the Premier League shouldn't be precedence.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart
The very next day you gave it away
This year save me from tear
I gave it to someone special

no?

United are going to meet Cardiff in next game. And he was manager for Cardiff before. Everything happen for a reason.
And if someone is meant to become United manager. Someone is meant to be king. Or someone is meant to become president like Trump. Its not much anyone can do against that. The script is already been written. And the one death is another bread. LVG has to been sacked, if not Mourinho will never be United manager.

So if someone are meant to be King or president. Every factors will help him to achieve it. No one cant stand in his way. Good karma and luck, the invisible factors that no one can see with human eyes, his helpers will help his skill and willing to achieve his goal. I mentioned Nicky Butt. But if he are not meant to be and his time hasnt coming, he will not be.

And to match such a huge big club and job as United. You get to have something big, invisible with you too. Things has to match each others, if not you will not last long. But if you have a lot of luck. A deep bank of luck. Yeah, it will help you a lot on the way. So Ole did have skills and luck on his side as a player. So exciting to see how it will be as a manager, for a big task. Remember, he had such a big helper and others factor in Sir Alex, Eric Cantona and the class of 92. Current United squad have many really good players too. But Sir Alex and Sir Busby....those era live for their own.

So only time will tell. Again exciting to follow. How long he will be here?Even the main actor doesnt know that. But, Its all written in the stars. Are you meant to be or not meant to be.

Whatever he does, he must be backed up. The club's in a mess, the 4th place is most probably unreachable, so I don't see why we wouldn't bring someone like him and bring back the taste of old times.
Welcome (back) OLEGEND!

He likes attacking football.

Seriously though I dont have a clue.

Frank Rijkaard got Sparta Rotterdam relegated the year before he went to Barcelona, Luis Enrique failed miserably at Roma, Pochettino was essentially sacked by Espanyol when the team was in last place in the league. The list goes on and on, most managers have a bad run, very often early on.

The usual for this type of situation is to give it to your assistant manager who has no experience we are just lucky enough to have a legend happy to take it on who happens to have already won two league titles with an unfancied side after successfully coaching our youth team.

I just personally don't see how we could have made a better choice given the circumstances we find ourselves in. Blanc maybe but I was very, very doubtful he would take it.

I agree, if we couldn’t get a more experienced/proven option (which I doubt is the case), I’d have probably let the assistants take charge.

I’m sure Quieroz would have taken it, to throw a name out there. Anyway, wish him the best, but I get the impression the players will be practically coaching themselves under Ole, who will be there for ‘morale’.

Whatever happens he cannot be worse than Jose. He is young, has managerial experience, knows this club and was coached by the best. I have no idea of his style of management but given his history he should have rashford beaming with confidence again. He has tonnes of energy and even if we finish 6th but go on to play attacking football with implementation of youth, i would be happy. He has some huge decisions to make. Will he drop matic? How will he play Pogba? Who is our striker, lukaku or rashford? What formation? Will be play pierera? Will be be given money in Jan? For the first time in 6 years I'm excited by our manager but perhaps thats because he was an absolute legend for us.

Strange appointment - has no business managing a club the size of United. That being said, I loved him as a player, and the season is essentially a write off for anyone but the most wildly optimistic (deranged) United fan, so I guess this is all just a bit of fun.

Away end at Cardiff will be bouncing.

Who know how this’ll end, but I’m pleased for Ole. Dream. Realised.

He’d have Rene and Mike with him apparently.
2 experienced guys, for definite, but the league has changed quite a lot since they were involved. Between them, hopefully they can get the players enjoying their football again.

I think part of the thinking behind this may be to appease the fans and get them back on side.

It will certainly put bums on seats and will get OT rocking again. Even if it's a bit of a disaster, the fans will always love him and cut him a lot of slack.

From that point of view, it's possibly a canny appointment.

Why leave a full time job for a 6 month contract? I fear it won't work out for him and his memory will be tainted if it goes badly wrong.

I don't know anything about him or Norwegian football but a 52% win rate at that level doesn't exactly fill me with excitement or hope.

May I be wrong come May.

I don't really understand why he is leaving a full time managerial position for a 6 month temporary contract.
Because it's probably a lifelong dream. Molde or Man Utd, tough one!

Huh, okay then! I didn't really expect that. I hope it goes well. Just finish the season playing entertaining football and having fun without much pressure.

It's as good as confirmed with the website mistakes and also the Norway PM wishing him good luck but the mods can edit the title if they wish.

He's said in the past that he sees United as best suited to 4-4-2, but that was before even Moyes, and at Molde he primarily used 4-3-3 with two holding midfielders.

He's more attack minded than Mourinho, in the Norweigan top division his Molde side has scored the most goals every season he's been manager. This season has been no exception, but they've also conceded more than the teams around them in the table.

You what mate?

Seeing as this is the managerial equivalent of being a 'super-sub' - I am sure he'll smash it. Seriously though what is his footballing philosophy in general... not that I have any expectations for rest of this season, but I have no idea of Molde played?

Would hate to see a true legend of ours suffering in the dugout as we slip further down the table. Really hope he's got some good people around him and that the players give him 100%. Actually got butterflies thinking about it.
Same for me. This is why I'm not against Phelan and Rene coming in to help him. Really nervous for him and hope fans don't start having a go when he struggles a bit.

Your point is fair but you have to remember that of all the times Chelsea's best season actually came under De Matteo rather than Hiddink & Rafa . United have pretty much given up on the season and can clearly see that the club can most importantly do with some good vibes

Huh, okay then! I didn't really expect that. I hope it goes well. Just finish the season playing entertaining football and having fun without much pressure.
There will be pressure. We are still in the CL and FA cup. There is expectation and with that comes pressure.

Good luck Ole. Will always be a legend regardless.
