Bit weird, not sure how I feel, love Ole and I hope it doesn’t go sour for him.
If it is true.

“feck yes. Solskjaer!”

CLUELESS.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we finished bottom half of the table now. We’re not far off it. If Solskjaer doesn’t start winning right away, he should go. Interim or not. I’m not watching United become a fecking parody of themselves.

Some fans were turning their nose up at 4 League Title winning Laurent Blanc but are now creaming themselves at the thought of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.... The state of this fan base is Embarrassing sometimes.

Oh feck off.

So what if we slip further down the table? If we're not in the top for or a relegation battle then what's the difference?

Even if he does really badly, we finish even lower in the table them we currently are and get knocked out of the CL, does it matter? We'll have a new manager in the summer regardless and we can forget all about it.

The only way this appointment matters is if it's succesful. Otherwise it's a brief footnote

This man knows what he is talking about. It hardly can get any worse. It is not a long term appointment... Just back him.

We are currently 6th, and want to finish 4th. With more than half of the season to go. All this ‘season doesn’t matter’ talk is bollocks.

With 21 games left we need 15 wins, 4 draws and two losses just to get 75 points.

It's a really slim chance. 75 point threshold is quite high but 4th this season is on course for around 80 points.

2018 4th was 75 points
2017 4th was 76 points
2016 4th was 66 points and Leicester won the title
2015 4th was 70
2014 4th was 79
2013 4th was 73

We shouldn't give up though, I agree. We don't know how well 4th and 5th will keep going. Arsenal perhaps catchable.

We need to suddenly switch on last seasons form.

We need Norwegian football experts to give us some insight in how his Molde team is set up to play.
Can't wait for the weekend.

I am not an expert but here it is. Translated by google cause I can't be arsed.

Will play "men's football" in Molde: "I'm more cynical now

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has revolutionized his own football philosophy and will base the Molde football on what he calls "men's football".

- It's about one thing and it's a result. I'm getting more cynical, "says Molde coach Ole Gunnnar Solskjær to Eurosport.no.

When he became Molde coach for the first time in 2011, the former Manchester United player indoctrinated a playful and offensive game style.

"We no longer have Magnus Wolff Eikrem or Mats Møller Dæhli to send the ball before they fix the rest. I have had to think completely differently.

Got a wake in the Championship
The 45-year-old got another view of how he wanted the team to appear after being coach in the English Championship.

"The period I had in Cardiff did a lot to me in relation to this with people's football. You must have proper men on the team to succeed, "says Solskjær.

He believes it is absolutely essential in relation to the football that is practiced in the Elites series.

"In Norway, a lot of decisions are made with defeats or deathballs. I have noticed that cynicism is growing.
/QUOTE]

Ok this I'm looking forward to! Imagine a deathball from Rojo into Pep's forehead. Will teach the cnut not to mess with us.

Can't see why his Cardiff stint would have anything to do with this. They were already in the sh*t and just promoted. I really support this.

I've realised United fans have an obsession with "people who know the club" like it means anything practical. Did Klopp know Liverpool? Did Pep know City? Do Sarri, Poch, or Emery know their clubs before they went their respectively? Did Benitez when he won the Europa with Chelsea?

This whole "knows the club" trope is embarrassing. People even wanting Evra because of it. A good servant, a passionate character but as a manager - even in the interim - he's absolute prat quality. "Oh but Pogba and Martial get on with him" says the doe-eyed united fan. Well, so frikkin what? Grown men on millions of pounds can surely get on with new people I'm sure.

Get knowledgeable men with ideas ands imagination. There's more to top level management than the myth of the United way. You'd think no one else has ever won a trophy or learned a thing about football anywhere outside the united bubble the way these lot go on.

What a shocking appointment if true, its worse than having Jose in charge!
Yes he might have been a decent sub but as a manager in the premier league hes crap.
He took the job at Cardiff and lasted 5 minutes, this is one hell of a cock up!
What are the clowns in charge thinking?
Deary deary me, Jose will be laughing his cock off and counting his millions at this announcement.
We are absolutely doomed, get ready for a relegation fight.

Ffs.

So talk of Phelan coming too (am a bit hum-ho on that but help is needed and he has previous) but where is the story about Rene joining the team? I think that trio might have strengths...but is it anything more than gossip?

Ok I get it you think Poch is your next manager, I don’t lets not play pissing games. Seriously though, why go to the bother of appointing Ole, when Jose could just stay and save £20M or stick with Carrick or McKenna who basically took the training anyway... it’s a little strange.
Jose had to go due to the toxic nature and disharmony in the camp. Ole is someone who has coaching experience and will aide McKenna and Carrick who have no experience in coaching at EPL level. Ole also has worked with Pogba before and by all accounts has a great relationship with the player, which will be of great benefit to us imo.

Cost us £6m sacking Jose today rather than when top 4 became impossible - makes little difference in the grand scheme of things. According to Duncan Castles podcast this afternoon, Blanc had already been sounded out about being appointed on an interim basis, with the possibility of him getting the gig permanently in the summer (essentially an audition). That has been abandoned in favour of this temporary interim Solksjaer appointment (presumably because they have been given a bit of encouragement by one of their (the board's) first choices regarding the permanent role in the summer).

Well in case you missed it, the last 3 have all had nothing to do with the United way and we have seen how that has gone

Makes sense, which also therefore narrows the list down on first choices for the summer.

He knew Barca. He was given an opportunity and won 3 league titles, 2 champions leagues. The rest of your post is just rambling, I think you need a drink.

I'm heading over to England for the Bournemouth game. Going to be incredible seeing Ole on the sidline!

Anyone else massively cynical that this will work but also spending loads of time watching 20legend comps on YouTube?

Honestly.

It will be music to the ears of those in 5th and 6th to hear that we have given up trying to chase them as of 18 December. It’s ridiculous. By January 1st alone the gap could be down to 5. This is the PL.

Lets say we want Poch. Would he come in Jan?

While I agree Ole is a bad choice, interim manager is a need of the hour, unfortunately.
Why not? We are Man Utd. As much as i respect Spurs, but we are much bigger club. We must pay fee for him. Fee will be nearly the same now or in june. And basically IF he is our future manager, we will contact him and Spurs now so he will work against his future club next 6 months. Fighting for top4 and CL with Spurs against us. Which will leave him without CL next year in United.

Tbf Solskjaer has won 2 leagues himself, with a side that had never won the league before. He essentially managed an outsider to the first championship in their history. Sounds a lot more competitive than walking PSG to their annual title.

Makes zero sense tbh appointing Solskjaer, The Glazers have a yes man who wont demand any funds next month, while the many naive fans will be blinkered into the fact that he is a Utd legend and can do no wrong, maybe we should discuss his managerial nous with Cardiff supporters, honestly not sure why the more experienced Blanc wasnt considered, lets see how it all pans out but wouldnt be a total shock if Utd actually finish around 11th or 12th this season, its an absolute shambles from top to bottom!

Yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Can't wait to sing 'You are my Solskjaer' from the stands!

I've always wanted one of my playing idols to become manager. The romance of this appointment will make me fall in love with the club all over again.

There's nothing better than a United man being THE United man.

I've wanted a legend like Ole him to become manager in the same way I want kids from the academy to become a starters for the first team. It's the same feeling, only amplified a hundred times because it means mutual adoration from the very top of the club right the way to the fans. The connection to the fanbase can't get much stronger than this.

I’m guessing that would be my beloved Poch?

 State of this. You just made a thread about wanting Roy fecking Keane as the new manager after seeing him do a pundit stint on tv and you have the nerve to call others clueless.

I wanted him before but after seeing his analysis today on Sky, I’m convinced he’s the man for the job.

Keane gets United more than anyone. He has the intimidating aura about him that would make players respect him. Giggs, Scholes and Neville were also United greats but IMO they don’t come across as if they would be a good manager.

Keane’s Managerial CV is not as bad as some people think. His time at Ipswich and Sunderland is remembered fondly by their fans and he is still well liked by their supporters.

If we were to give him the money and freedom to buy his own players, I honestly think he would get it right. He knows why makes a United player because he himself was exactly the epitome of what a United player should be. He knows who has the qualities and who has the DNA.

He said it best today... “we have a few good players but they’re not good UNITED players”

Smalling, Jones, Young, Lingard and Shaw would be good enough for your Southamptons, West Hams and Watfords of the world. But they have no business being in a title challenging side. Fellaini, Lukaku, Pogba, Martial... all good players who would excel in teams like Juventus, Lyon and Chelsea. But not for United. Being a United player is more than just being a great player. They have to have certain qualities about them... not just on the pitch but mentally. They need to have that winning mentality. Just like Keane, Neville, Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo and Rooney had.

People want to talk about all these foreign managers taking over the job... Zidane, Pochettino, Allegri, Conte. Not for me. They will sign the wrong players, spend a shitload of money again and add to the dross we already have. They simply don’t get United.

I want Keane.

Cause Mourinho was becoming very toxic and seemed to have a lot of irreversible personal issues with players, Martial and DDG are stalling on contracts and Pogba was reportedly going to leave if Mourinho stayed and they're our 3 best players. His favourites played every game and the team suffered because of it, honestly there's a long list why he couldn't remain, we really were spiralling downward.

Is interim manager guys. Ole is good enough. No top managers want to be in this position. If he improves the team, he gets the job permanently. If not, hope we will get Pochettino in May.

Haven't seen anything concrete linking Muelensteen with us thus far.

What's with this obsession with Blanc? He has never managed in England. At least Ole won't be surprised.

To be fair, that was a really, really poor Cardiff squad and the next manager couldn't keep them in the Premier League.

I think United have some great players, and he'll do much better for us.

Christ, it's like Edgar Allan Poe's Manchester United with some posters, no matter what the club does.

Why not Bruce or Hughes, he’ll even Gary NevilleOk not fashionable but far more experience than Ole? Hell even Gary N would surely have jumped at the chance?

ole gunnar ffs we r still shopping at Primark. Until we reach John Lewis we are only going one way and it isn't up.
from bad to worse you could not make this up if you tried, its unbelieveable a complete farce.
