Is Ole a good appointment?

 Its bizarre, people are worried he will do well and be kept on. Bizarre logic.

I think we all should be much more worried that he won't do well. As I said earlier I think its crazy to land him with the xmas fixtures, if things go wrong for him they could go wrong pretty quickly.
I think the worry isn't about him doing exceptionally well. But rather for the scenario where the results create a perception of him being good enough whereas the underlying progress and his talent /ability suggests that he isn't. And that is possibility. Obviously I want him to to be our Pep, hammering every opponent 5-0. What you don't want is for him to do just about enough to impress just about enough to get him the job permanantly and for him to subsequently fail thereafter.

It's like Mourinho prior to his contract/till last season. I felt he deserved to stay as he'd done the bare minimum but I wasn't particularly impressed nor convinved by his management and direction he was taking us. But the club handed him an extension and good portion of fans seemingly fell in love with him. Truth is, we've fallen apart now and it's not like the signs werent there before.

So, as I said before, were all optimistic and wishing Ole well. But we want the club to remain rational and not get caught up by a wave of emotion.

Best interview I've heard from a Manchester United manager. I go on my knees everyday now and pray this beautiful succeed, so he can take over permanently.

Now the dust has settled a little and the nightmare is finally over. I'm getting a little concerned about Ole's interviews about how he's going to attack attack attack. Now before everyone bites my head off, I am over the moon with what's happened, but let's not forget our defence is crap. Our DM is crap. It's okay saying the hand break will be off, but there is still a job to do at this Club.....
.winning football matches! Hopefully I'm over analysing all of this and we win our next 4 games 4-0!

Few things you won't get from Ole:

  • Blaming players publicly
  • blaming previous managers
  • complaining about funds
  • complaining about management
If shit hits the fan he will take all the hit to protect the players and staff, cause he loves your club. Well done to remember that if things don't go all that well, he tried with the best of intentions.

"How we want to play and then we'll give them details on the opposition"

I'm sold

F*ck you all, I called it first. Always wanted Ole and Carrick and Poggers leading the line.
Who is this Fergie lad?

On leading United out and the reception from the fans:
"How long with that last?"

Get lost, Ole! Never wanted you! Poggers FC doesn't need you!!

Am I doing this right?

How would you feel about winning 4-3 compared to 1-0? Your defense is gonna be terrible regardless, so might as well score more than the opponents.

Our attack is our best asset - and Ole's here for 6 months.

Attack should be his priority.

You get Martial, Pogba, Sanchez, Rashford, Lingard, Mata, Rom in some kind of rhythm and form and you've got a team that will cause any opposition in Europe problems.

Saw in another thread that some think he'll return us to a 4-4-2. Gotta say, I'd love to see that. Although not sure we have traditional type wingers, unless we give Chongy a go

Yeah that small detail. Plus who's going to coach supposedly top class players into improving? The guy who's never done it and Mikey Phelan? We're going to need the players to do the heavy lifting here. And they don't seem very united right now, in any sense of the word.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Jose is gone. But let's not expect much from Ole...

He will play 4-2-3-1 for sure.

The interview was interesting.. he seemed very confident when talking from a players perspective, but nervous when speaking as the manager.

I would cover all the bases if I were you -- throw in Buddha, Allah and Yama whilst on your knees.

It definitely feels truly "us", "our", "we" when he says it. It just feels like fans are also part of it now after a long time.

It never felt the same when Mou, or lvg, or Moyes mentioned those words.

Some players need discipline too, it's getting the balance thats key. I'd like to think Ole learnt that from Fergie though
According to those with a clue he has a pretty decent hairdrier. He is very demanding. But unlike Mou it stays indoors.

He sounds like a United manager, for sure. He gets what it means to be one. And this interim thing works out best for everyone, less pressure for him and he's got loads of help. Phelan will be there to steady things and is basically SAF"s mouthpiece.

This is why our next manager should be Butt or Carrick or even Ole if he proves himself during his tenure.

They simply understand the club, understand what it takes to be a player, have learned from United Managers and know the fans.

It's not a coincidence that the more we see ex players managing their clubs - the better or the best they have looked.

Howe at Bournemouth, Pep at Barcelona, Klopp at Mainz, Zidane at Madrid, Gatusso at Milan (not the best by any means but better by recent standards) etc.

Sure not everyone is going to work - but it's not a huge gamble by any means; not in the current generation.

If we have DoF in place and set long-term for the next decades, we need to bread new waves of coaches from our academy who can play an attractive brand of football as long as we're on the same page, so we don't have to worry about who we need to replace them with unless the likes of Pep mould suddenly available for job

Not really going by what he says. He is just saying things fans will like, and obviously he himself is a fan who wants that.

Important thing to remember is that he's not a top manager and could very well be out of his depth if he isn't careful. I just hope him praising all our players as world class doesn't mean the likes of Valencia, Jones and Lingard are going to get regular starts. One of the good things Mourinho did was to ostracize One Foot Valencia, last thing we need is him sneaking back into the XI.

Ole has a job on his hands, hopefully he starts off on the right foot.

If Ole wants full backs that go forward then Valencia will barely get a look in. Shaw and Dalot with Young and Darmian as backups I'd imagine.

When He was doing really good at Molde, part of me wished him to be our next manager. And now Here He is, I hope He will try to implement his ideas without any fears, He has nothing to lose and I doubt We'll get relegated even if Jose's still here (I'm glad He's not). Very attacking football, adopt the "We'll score more than you and win it" mentality ala Fergie please. We have the attacking players to do so.

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year, to save me from tears

Put a smile on my face. Most refreshing interview I’ve heard in 6 years. Even if it doesn’t go to plan, at least the plan seems to be - attack first ask questions later and build players up, don’t break them down.

We are with you Ole - best of luck and your love for the club shines through.. genuine, agenda free.

Having suffered the ridicule from my ABU friends and colleagues (about Ole being given the job) I really hope that Ole does the business. To be honest my gut feeling is very good and my gut feeling is always right when it comes to United.

Yes, people may think that this isn't a big deal for anyone but after having watched LvG and Mourinho, it seems a very big thing for United fans, I'm okay with us not having a tactical wizard but christ I want to see us playing on the front foot.

Dominating possession might just be the best way to shield a weak defense. That's where Jose's counterattack idea went to shit, along with using lingard as a #10 to play the key outballs.

Everybody needs fresh air at some point, the atmosphere around the club sounded toxic, Ole is the fresh air we need a smiling and friendly face instead of Mr. Grumpy.
This 100%

I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's game.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

C'mon United!
