Is Ole a good appointment?

No one should be judged on any one game. All I know is that he’s making Mourinho look more of a mug with every week that passes.

This. And i bet you Jose was sat there for a few weeks, at ease, being of the opinion "you wait...you'll soon see; those players, my big game tactical nouse....it'll all come out in the wash".

We'll he's still waiting.

That was Ole's best game in charge. Adapted to two important injuries and got his formation spot on.

His in game management was also very well executed.

Question- would you be disappointed if we lost to Liverpool or is it like a PSG situation in that they are that level above us at the moment?
Most disappointing thing about PSG is that we didn’t turn up. We saw Pogba being targetted and didn’t adapt. Here Chelsea were on him, but he appears to have learnt quick and appeared wide left to set up the first goal and then surged ahead of his marker for the second.

We are on the level of PSG and Liverpool right now. We’re at home. We should be planning to beat them. Work hard, play smartly, and we will.

If you think Pochettino is doing any worse, please justify your opinion. You don't have to put someone else down to praise Ole and the job he is doing.

Ole, in the end might be more of a good fit for United than Poch but Poch is doing one of the best managerial jobs with what's at his disposal.

Who cares?

Reason why i said 'there is always one'.

We've just won another big away match, another big test hes passed, and people are talking about poch.

Honestly couldnt care less about poch. Best run we have been on from i cant remember, with a united legend managing us..........sorry for not caring about the spurs coach

We should STILL wait until the end of the season before reviewing our managerial options and yes OGS should be a serious contender.

However, to give him the job now could change the dynamics in so many untold ways so why fix something that ain't broke. He wasn't promised the job. He knows exactly what terms the role is and he happens to be excelling in it.

Exactly. Allow the appointment to be it's own end of season ultra positive dynamic. No need to do it much earlier.

Not sure we are. Don't think we're miles off it like some think but we're not on their level.

Got his tactics spot on today, but his tactics were backed by some solid performances.

Playing Mata through the middle (finally!) was effective, but this meant that the Full backs, Pogba and Herrera had to work double shifts to cover their flank. Brilliant from both Herrera and Pogba who kept shuttling between the wings and their natural position. Shaw probably had his best defensive performance ever in a Utd shirt.
The players took to the tactics well and did a great job.

The best part about his time as manager here is that he appears to be learning from every mistake he makes.

@Wednesday at Stoke mate nobody wants to hear about another club's coach tonight.

We have a United treble winning legend in the dugout doing the business. He's now beaten Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea away. His only loss has been against a team that has depth like the sea. Give it a rest talking about other people. Let's just enjoy this.

Agree 100%.

Honestly bore off with the Poch shite for one night. What sort of weirdo wants to talk about another teams manager after a win like that.

We played them back in May and both clubs had similar squads.

Shitouse tactics = 0-1 loss

Play them tonight with a positive manager.

Have a go even with 2 regular starters of our front 3 injured = 2-0 win.

Squad still shit eh Jose?

I was looking back through each season and last we had 7 consecutive away wins in all competitions was back in April 2002. 5 in league, 2 in CL that time.

At this point if he doesnt get the job on a permanent basis, serious questions need to be asked about the people running the club and what their expectations actually are. We are in the form of our lives, and yes we may have lost to PSG but at this point in time I think whoever we had as manager would have struggled against them. I feel like we cant keep changing the goalposts every time he gets a good result, or put an asterix next to the result (Spurs werent at full strength so it doesnt count, Arsenal are being Arsenal, Chelsea are in meltdown etc) to try and disqualify his achievements.

We have tried the 'up and coming manager who works on a shoestring budget and needs a big job to prove himself'

We have tried the experienced manager who has reached a World Cup final with a poor side whose tactical knowledge got them that far

We have tried the short term option who always achieves wherever he goes and guarantees success.

None of them worked.

Now we have a United Legend, who loves the club, the players love him, the fans love him, and he is getting results that 3 months ago we would never have even dreamed of achieving. And instead of saying 'thats our guy', we are still dithering, just in case the latest shiny new manager is available.

Theres a saying that I heard about United years ago, and its one of the reasons I love the club. 'We dont buy superstars, we make them'.

Isn't that how it works normally? Manager comes up with tactics and players perform it to the best of their abilities, Surely one without the other wouldn't work.

Ole doing fantastic job. Needs 3 4 additions to his system and he can do even much much better. The way he set up the game vs Chelsea and handled the absences of 2 key players and the reaction and the mindset after the defeat from PSG it was signs big signs of how he can do here. Still early to judge yes but for me if he gets top four with continuing this decent run in the F.A then he is the man to get the job for me.

All the naysayers wanted to see how he'd bounce back from a loss. Well, case closed.

Guy is class, and he is doing a fantastic job. Give him the job.

After the reality check - reality's back !

Massive response from players and brilliant tactically to knock even more stuffing out of this Chelsea team who are also rivals for top four - will have surely done Ole's chances a world of good -
I was skeptical after the first couple of matches but now I'm convinced

What a guy  He completely outthought Chelsea today and set us up in the perfect way to beat them.

The one top quality side we've played has wiped the floor with us.

OGS has done a brilliant job but let's wait until May shall we? We can't afford to get swept up by emotion and make the wrong call.

He showed tonight that he can prepare a team to execute a game plan. He showed great tactical ability tonight. He’s done more than just lifted the spirits around the club. It’s becoming increasingly more likely that he’s going to get the job. Happy days.

Don’t forget Leicester too. Might not be top six but a difficult place to get a win.

Agree. We completely did a number on them tonight. Hopefully this shows that Carrick and McKenna are having a big influence too.

"Spurs game will be his first test".

"Spurs are bottlers anyway. Arsenal will be a better test".

"Arsenal are shite, still need to see him in a bigger game".

"After drawing with Burnley his test is to prove how he can handle this".

"Still winning against easy teams. PSG will be his first test".

"He lost to PSG, how he'll react to the loss will be his test".

"We're playing average now. The subs made during the game will be his test".

"We defeated Chelsea but they're shite. Liverpool will be his test".

3 years later

"He has won the treble with us so far but I'm still not convinced. The next game will be his TEST".

I think this is the game that puts OGS as a serious and legitimate contender for the permanent position. This is no longer about putting smiles on faces as the old cliche goes and the honeymoon period has passed. There was certainly tactical nous afoot in this game that worked really well and he did it without Martial and Lingard.

I seriously dont get this mentality?

You either are overrating our team or have been living under a rock for last 6 years if PSG are make or break test and not winning away against spurs arsenal and chelsea.

Herrera and Matic are crucial. I actually thought they were our best players in the first half against PSG.

Herrera goes forward and tracks back. Matic patrols the area and gets a foot in.

You can rely on them to do a job. They wont get nervous or fazed.

My money on he´s already got the job.

Not until we lost 2 of our players that were key to the set up we were going with. I daresay that if Ole had been forced into using a diamond a few games before PSG and we'd still been getting results, then as soon as the injuries happened in the game we could have transitioned from the 433 into a diamond, instead of still trying to use a 433 with players who werent going to work in the same way.
