Is Ole a good appointment?

He won't do that.
I know he won't but I don't see why we should take advantage of him by saying "lets wait until he fecks up so we can say he's not good enough and go for Pochettino instead".

He's clearly good enough, he clearly knows what he's doing. To discuss anyone else getting the job over him now is just disrespectful.

Still unsure whether this is an anomaly or not. There have been managers and players in the past who have had excellent one seasons and then the next one, they are found out. The opposition manager in Ranieri is a great example today.

Ole has done a lot right. In particular getting the best out of Pogba(he is showing performance of a future ballon d’or winner) and knowing his best team(e.g., no crazy rotation). However, the toughest team we have faced was Pochettino Spurs and he gave us a lesson in how to attack and we cowered like a deer against a lion when Spurs was on the offense. I would like to assess Ole again against a team as strong as that. Who is well managed and doesn’t have any key players injuries. PSG would have been a great test, but with Neymar out, it may no longer be the match it was shaping up to be. I watched their game against Lyon and they were really poor.

What if Solskjaer turns around after beating PSG and says 'give me a perm contract or I'm off at the end of March'.

Or someone else jumps in with an offer next month?

What happens then?

But that’s just quite far fetched fiction isn’t it?

What if Ole suddenly turned into a dog?

Since we're making up outlandish scenarios, what if Messi tears up his Barca contract and volunteers to play for United, free of charge?

We’re not taking advantage, he knew what he signed up for and I’m sure he’s currently loving it, I doubt he feels used.

Fans will discuss stuff anyway when it's not likely to be looked at.

The important part is what goes on behind the scenes & at our games. The match-goers are happy and singing for him & I very much doubt the board is unhappy.

End of the season? Things are going so well at the moment seems daft risking any change. Tough call though.

Yeah, tricky. I tend to agree. Though privately, have it wrapped up soon.

We’ll know all we need to know by the time the city game ends on March 16th! No one needs to rush into anything right now but I really hope Ole can keep something like this going as it feels more like the club I’ve loved for most of my adult life than at any time since SAF retired.

Around twice the points per match

There were many on here arguing that we couldn't do better than Mourinho. He was the only one keeping us up, and the only way was down if we replaced him for the season.

After all, who was available to replace Mourinho?

Well, we always knew that for the bullshit it turned out to be.

You know the Norwegian league has already started? He is the permanent manager of Molde so why should he continue to do us a favour at his expense?
The Norwegian league hasn´t started yet, but the message to Ole from Molde owners is: Don´t come back! They actually said that.. haha.

Not because they are not happy with Ole at Molde, of course, but because they want Ole all the best, and managing ManUtd is everything Ole has ever dreamt of.

I have never seen a poster as in love with an opposition manger. Not even with all the Pep and Klop fanboys on the cafe. It's like you want United to lose just so that you can say Poch is a better manager.

And now you are trying to lower expectations before the PSG match. It really seems that you cannot be objective about this at all

Why throw out something that works, and then hope something else works?

There is no reason. The mental aspects of football are massively downplayed on here. The Poch crowd are convinced he's the second coming of SAF so don't expect them to admit that. Ole can handle the pressure of a big club, and with Phelan by his side we are tactically good, Poch has serious question marks over his mentality.

He has to be in pole position for the job now. It would all have to go pear-shaped from now to the end of the season for him not to be made an offer. But who can say what the Glazer's thoughts are? We keep hearing about the impending appointment of a DoF but nothing concrete. Players who perhaps shouldn't get contract extensions are getting them, and there were no incoming transfers in January to bolster the squad. I'd have to say that nothing is decided yet.

Ok we get it, you want your darling Poch to get the job.
And let me get this straight, even PSG isn't a proper test cause Neymar is injured.
So it must a properly managed team but with the full squad. Then you can judge him..

Ffs:rolleyes:

As I said in another thread: 51 points so far: 26 with Mourinho and 25 with Ole!

We look like a totally different team under him, which makes you wonder how would our season go had we appointed him two months earlier. A wonderful wonderful job so far!

Not just that.
If I had a great boss, hitting all his targets (rather exceeding them), and he was loved by all, but he got the boot, it would massively affect the workplace.

We have a better chance of winning the league this season, than this happening.

So far so good for OGS.

What what will happen when he comes across a rampaging terrorist bull who kidnaps his children and holds them to ransom?

Agree with the bold. Realistically though, there's absolutely nothing Solskjaer can do as interim manager to prove it isn't an anomaly. Even if he wins the CL you could point to someone like Di Matteo and say he still might be found out in the full time role.

So you either rule out Solskjaer entirely (because he simply isn't going to definitively prove he's the right man for the job in such a short time period) or you accept that he might be worth appointing even if we're ultimately unsure if he can continue this as permanent manager.

The rest of the season will provide an opportunity for Solskjaer to rule himself out of the job, either through a disintegration of form, a disintegration in results or looking inept in big games. If he avoids that then I would find it hard to argue that changing manager again is worth the hassle when ultimately the new manager will have question marks around him too.

Even if we decide not to give him the job, he’ll very likely have some very good job offers to choose from afterwards, if he doesn’t want to go back to Molde. Talk about making the most out of the opportunity.

The key was how Ole and the team bounced back from Burnley and Leicester. With burnley it was bad defending and almost lost points, and against Leicester we played average football. But today's performance is indication of there is consistency and sometime players could have an off day, yet win or at least salvage a point. That was showing of some character. Well done Ole.

11 points off top four when he got here and we've clawed it back. Now we're 11 points off top spot...

...I'm not saying, I'm just saying...:wenger:

You think it's fair to compare Ole's United with Spurs?

Pochettino build that team from scratch, he's had couple of seasons coaching that team to perfection and we still managed to beat them with a team that Ole couldn't change.

He improved us by a lot, we won big games under him.

If we finish top 4 he should be the first choice imo.
