Do we think he's the best striker to have been happy with a support role in PL history? It's such a weird one, I get he loved United but he must have wanted to play and he knew he was good enough to start for most PL teams. Particulalry with how well he started when he was first choice, I can't think of anyone else even close to his level who didn't move for game time.
Maybe he fully understood that trophies are won and lost by squads and that squad players are very important in the modern game. I never understood why the term squad players is considered as derogatory by some United fans. Squad players won us the treble (Ole and Teddy) and nearly costed us the treble as well (Phil Neville, Arsenal semi final replay ie penalty). Top squad players in a top side will get ample game time, they will win stuff, they are instrumental in keeping the first team players on its toes and they can write their name in football history. What would have Ole won if he played for Spurs?
Yeah it's up to the individual I guess, I'm not sure what I would do - I'd probably rather start every game and not win a trophy than be known as a 'super sub'. Ole is different though as he has the treble winning moment which must have been worth it by a long shot.
I think you should reread Fergies autobiography mate. Edwards did all sorts of shit behind Fergies back.

Luckily United have been blessed with some of the finest players in the game! Like you said, would love Solskjær in his prime now, would have been our best attacker by a mile imo.

a lot of his time with us we played with 2 up top, so he did get a good amount of playing time. If you look at his numbers from 99 to 2002-03 season, he was appearing in basically 30+ pl games a season. It would be very hard to see and manage playing time, in this era of only one up front, a squad having 3 to 4 genuine quality strikers in their squad.

That's fecking awesome. Great support. I'd love Ole to get a bit of a random managerial job and bring a bit of star quality to a league with potential. He's no Robbie Fowler style "pick a name" appointment, he's actually a decent coach who's won things. I suspect he's happy chilling in Norway though which is a bit of a shame.
You'd think he'd get a job easily in Norway or other Scandinavian countries.
In hindsight he was a decent manager.

He did an excellent job as a caretake manager
I wouldn't be surprised if he takes over the national team if Solbakken gets the boot. Maybe teach this youngster "Haaland" or whatever something about finishing.
He's still young but needs to get back in the game soon.
Maybe another good stint in Norway and then has a crack at a Championship team.
Roy Keane should do the same. Not manage in Norway but manage at a lower level to prove himself.
What a tremendous reception for a proper legend. I love solksjaer with every fibre of my body, never loved a man utd player more than solksjaer and doubt I ever will again. So pleased to see him getting the love he deserves. Favourite manager post SAF too who got far more criticism than he deserved.
He would get a premier league job if he really wanted it. He’s miles better than championship level and his stint at Utd is largely downplayed. We played our best football post Fergie under him by a long shot.

The jury's out on his abilities. His signings weren't great. He spent a fortune on AWB, Maguire, Sancho, DVDB. 250m approximately on shite.
Would you consider any of those good signings?

I think most PL clubs would prefer to take a chance on many others than Ole.
It doesn't mean he can't be a good manager but he has to repair his reputation somewhere by doing a good job.

Cardiff wasnt an impossible job, and being better than Lamps and Gerrard doesn't mean he was necessarily good
I don't think anyone could keep that team up. It was like QPR 2013 except the squad was way worse.
Please tell me how Cardiff wasn’t an impossible job. They had arguably the most batshite crazy ownership the premier league has ever seen at the time? What did they do before and after to suggest Ole was the problem. You have a deep rooted dislike of Ole and I’m guessing it stems to your support of Mourinho during his time.
They actually spent a fair bit of money. Ole got 9 new players of his own and they looked worse. Tough to not put a large portion on him for the Cardiff stint.
