Not in one summer, yes. But God willing Ole gets backed properly we can see him and the admin take big steps to start the process.

But why are we willing to give someone two or three transfer windows on the off-chance they might be good enough when the evidence is (increasingly) beginning to demonstrate otherwise? If we're sitting in 7th at the end of the season we will obviously sack him, irrespective of whether or not he wants to make more changes. New managers have come into clubs before and changed things drastically without necessarily overhauling the squad. I think we need significant changes on the pitch but no manager is going to get the time to literally change us entirely over three years if they don't perform well in the meantime. Football doesn't work that way.

Whatever doubts we might have about Solskjaer, he's here to stay for an extended term.

All we can hope for to ease our anxiety is a change in structure to stop us being so dependent on our manager for everything.

Yeah. We can still fix this.

Just put a proper structure in place now, give Ole pre-season and the start of next season and then see where we're going. A ballsy Sporting Director is key though, he needs to be make the chop at the right time if it's not going anywhere.

It's not just the losses. We were outplayed in most of our victories, too. Then you have the awful football, weird formation choices, bad subs.

I think he'll save his reputation with the fans by walking away. Maybe I’m giving him too much credit.

I don't want him to leave. Yet he need to realise that these guys aren't good enough and unless he kick them out quickly then they'll get him sacked just as they did with Moyes, LVG and Mou. You don't dilly dally with bad weed. SAF signed 5 players in 1998 and then another 5 players in 1989 and that was a time when squads were half the size they are now.

Someone in the match day thread said that Ole must have told a bunch of the players they were being sold for them to down tools like this. Thoughts?
Why would he tell them before the seasons ended and there's still a chance for top 4?

2 managers in one season. 2 managers call out the players, they IMMEDIATELY stop playing for them.

We need to eat their wages and sell.....QUICKLY

6 losses in 8. Could be 7 in 9 by Wednesday. Then Chelsea at home...8 in 10?

It's unbelievably poor. I don't care how bad the squad is, we never had a run this poor under Moyes, LVG or Mourinho.

United board and the fans to be fair are to blame. They all got excited on his start and basically helped push the board to male a decision that would Make the fans happy. Everyone on this forum thought he was the real deal when it was obvious this was his Di Matteo moment.

I just cant understand why they could not wait until the end of the season to make such a big decision.
The fans aren't getting paid millions to make wise footballing decisions. The board and Woodward should have learned from the last two appointments when fans did a U-turn and went from endorsing the appointments to cursing them for making it

We offered him a 3 year contract. What was Woodward thinking?

Did he not learn from Moyes 6 year deal? Or renewing Mourinho's deal?

Mourinho was sacked by Madrid and by Chelsea. The only hope was that the last season at both Madrid and Chelsea were outliers and under different circumstances wouldn't happen again. It did.
Van Gaal helped do that over 20 years ago. You're equating there reputations with them being good enough now and that simply isn't the case. none of the 4 managers we appointed should have been appointed, that's what is costing us.
Mou won the league Chelsea the year before, plus everyone gets the sack at Chelsea.

Who is good enough then ? Because at the moment the only manager that doesn't fall short is Pep.

And there still are people who call us, who have concerns about Ole as idiots.

The will blame everybody but Ole, they believe in football fairy tales, managers who make fairy tales happen usually get SACKED the next season.

Not sure how you deduced that after I said he's going after the Fergie style.
What exactly has he shown that you feel he will be able to or is trying to inplement Fergie's style? His pressers don't count as an answer.

Challenges the players to put in a better performance and tells them theyre playing for their places at the club and this is what they come up with.

But as usual, let's blame the manager, it must be his fault.

Jose was right but we did not want to back him and his methods, tough as they were. He did not win 2 Champions League for nothing.

We literally let him break the world transfer record, we did back him. Stop this revisionist nonsense. He was a terrible manager for us towards the end. The signs were there when he completely collapsed at Chelsea in his third season.

Someone in the match day thread said that Ole must have told a bunch of the players they were being sold for them to down tools like this. Thoughts?
I doubt he'd tell them that they're being sold and then start them. We're incompetent but not that stupid.

He looks well out of his depth it's frightening. Should never have given him the job full time. No wonder why the players were desperate for him to get the job. They're walking all over him.

Genuinely painful watching this. I love Ole so much

But, he really is out of his depth here.

Jose was out of his depth with this lot, too.

No idea why we're in such a mess, but we are and there's not a manager in the game who can fix this mess.

I still see calls for Poch - but he's also an unknown quantity - he's under very little expectation at Spurs and hasn't had to sort out any real mess. I'd have him lasting a season at best before being fired.

We need to be patient - this isn't Ole's problem. This is the players just downing tools. Time to swing the axe.

We should have waited until the end of the season to hire him full time.

His comments of recent have not helped. Basically saying what Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho said, that they will need two years to change the whole thing. That does not inspire confidence in the players you have.

Looks like the players have lost belief in him and downed the tools.

Mou won the league Chelsea the year before, plus everyone gets the sack at Chelsea.

Who is good enough then ? Because at the moment the only manager that doesn't fall short is Pep.

Usually for finishing 3rd of 4th, Mourinho literally had them teetering just above the relegation zone. It was a spectacular collapse which indicated his ability to pretty much fully self-destruct.

Why did he make no attacking minded substitutions? Why does he keep faith in shit attackers? It's so bizzare.

don't worry, he'll come out with some cliches like the United way etc in the post match

Ole should at least get the summer window. There’s something wrong with our players.
This team needs a huge rebuild and I don’t think Ole is experienced enough to do that. If we screw up this window, that would mean another 2-3 years of shite.
We should get a DOF in, it’s an absolute necessity. We need to build towards a style of play, it may take years but that’s the only way out.

I got ridiculed by some on here for saying ole may have to go and that he was appointed too early and now look.

Forget fairy tales and legends, get the best people in to do the job!

The fans aren't getting paid millions to make wise footballing decisions. The board and Woodward should have learned from the last two appointments when fans did a U-turn and went from endorsing the appointments to cursing them for making it
I don't mean literally but the board jumped the gun early because of how much the fans were pushing for it.

He might walk at this rate. This is the lowest point in the last 6 years. Even if he is incharge next season, we need to hire someone to sign the right players. I don't trust Ole's judgement at this point considering his team selections.

Why are people talking about sacking him? That's absolutely mental and stupid to suggest.

By now, people should understand that the players have a big part to play on the position we are in.

No right side, an incompetent defense . Young at right back.... The same CBs Fergie bought for God's sake.

Pogba playing like a diva in midfield, wouldn't surprise me if it's the contract situation.

And I won't even talk about the attack. No RW. Lukaku that can't control a ball if his life depended on it and Martial....

It's time that we let someone that knows the club clear out and get some players that play for the club. Ole knows the club. He can't do worse than previous managers.

Nothing to do now except back him in the summer. Fans need to turn their frustration towards the board and the players.

“Ones he’d have potentially signed” is complete and utter guesswork.

The players Fergie signed were generally younger prospects or squad players. And that’s not to mention they’ve all aged considerably since.

Pogba and Lukaku would arguably qualify as the former and players like Matic and various others would arguably qualify as the latter.

What exactly has he shown that you feel he will be able to or is trying to inplement Fergie's style? His pressers don't count as an answer.

Its hard to say, we will have to find out next year whether he has what it takes. He has shown quite a bit already this year before this latest dip. We would be in far worse shape had Mourinho stayed this year.

Yeah. We can still fix this.

Yep. Plus a good DOF should hopefully ensure that even if Ole proves to be a bad choice the recruitment we do will still be building to something. As opposed to having to rip it all up again if/when Solskjaer does leave.

Only incompetent board would do that. If They only go by what the fans want or happy about then what the feck are They doing exactly? might as well leave the club and make a website to do a poll for every single decision the club has to make. The board and Woodward are jokes, clueless, how many years since Fergie left? how many blunders have They made? and They still haven't learned.

Worst of all, They didn't bring anyone to help Woodward even though They have no idea how to run a club like Manchester United.

Said it when Jose was here. It’s the players.

You can’t make a silk purse out of Phil fecking Jones.

This

The issue is the decision not to wait. With Ole as temporary manager, the team were running, they were working, and they were starting to click.

Two things:-

1) Since his permanent appointment, a lot of those same players have downed tools again.

2) Ole's tactics have actually become more cautious and less effective the longer he's been at the club. When he arrived, he said Rashford was his centre forward, and he put Pogba 20 yards further up the pitch.

Unsurprisingly, they looked threatening and Pogba was winning games on his own within 60 minutes. I'm not sure why the team set-up has changed, when that approach was clearly working so well.
