Great win, but we shouldn't be offering any praise for a win against Norwich, a team that we should be beating comfortably

In before people will start dreaming about turning the corner. Good performance today but this Norwich side is just dreadful. Also it proves just how wrong Ole was to freeze Matic and Mata from the squad. Matic is still the best DM at the club while Mata is the best attacking midfielder and is still 5x better than JLingz will ever be. Unfortunately Ole just makes emotional decisions regarding to who plays and who doesn't instead of actually using his brain. Anyway, good win, 3 points and let's prepare mentally for a humiliation against Liverpool.

Long long way to go before he gains my trust but good win today. We’ve beaten the worst team in the league at home, plenty of positives but nothing to get carried away with. Still 5 points off 4th when we had every chances to cut it down even further and he really has to finish top four.

Harsh considering we haven't been able to field our best eleven in all but maybe 1 or 2 matches this season.

Give the man time. He is working with a threadbare squad right now. I think it with some luck and getting guys like Pogba and McT back for the rest of the year, coupled with a signing like Bruno...we might be able to win a trophy and finish top four.

What is it exactly you’re looking for?
Sorry for keep you waiting. Not often we cruising ahead like this so I had to enjoy the game first. Great win and some beautiful goals. Well deserved and hopefully Ole can get some rest until Wednesday.

When organized and well coached teams play you can see patterns, designed routes and players repeatedly doing similar movements and passing over and over again. Players has clear and precise instructions on how and when to to pass and move around. When Liverpool and City play you can see this all the time.

We aren’t well synchronized and mostly our attacking intentions starts by instinct, not by designed movements. We’re off course handicapped to be without a creator but with better instructions our players could probably produce more chances then we do. The potential is there but Ole and his team has so far problems to implement their ideas apart from counter and pressing the ball holder.

Very good performance and win tonight. However they're 20th team in the league. Nothing really to get excited about. I was predicted a win by at least 3 goals before the match.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont.

We been dropping points all over the show against cr#p...........and everyone has rightly moaned, but we win one comfortably there is a slight moan.

Watford where bottom too and beat us.

I know we had problems with injuries (which club apart from Liverpool doesn't?) but Ole has himself to blame a lot too. JLingz should never ever start if Mata is fit. Same as we should never ever play Fred-Andreas as our midfield duo if Matic is fit. Ole still can't see it.

Standard expected win against a poor side. Nothing to get excited about.

Interesting how Leicester fared this week without their key defensive midfielder. Maybe players make a difference.

I believe in Ole, but right now it would be fun to get another manager in to watch all the Ole out folks start moaning even more when a "revered" manager like Ancelotti or someone else wellknown takes over, starts playing boring football and does a lot worse than Ole with this simply-not-good-enough-squad! Still, I believe Ole will succeed as long as the club delivers on the transfers this and the next window.

Stupid post.

No one is claiming Ancelotti would be a good managerial appointment.

Forget about turned corners, this has been our most enjoyable team post-SAF in my opinion. I'll give him credit for that.

Very inconsistent though.

3 months ago everyone was whining that we couldn't break down defensive teams - when we do, they are crap anyway. People should be happy we are losing to the best teams, and beating the poor teams. Just like you wanted.

And btw - have to applaud Hasenhuttl - from 0-9 defeat to 2-1 in a game where they could have won by 5. Impressive by Soton

I want him gone but give the credit where it's due.

Greenwood,Rashford and Martial - all pulling up numbers is because of him.

Very good perfromance from the whole team today. Shouldn't change anyone views on Ole but good to know the players still playing for him well.
Also good to see the influence of a proper playmaker chipping in with points. Should hopefully show Ole and Woody that we need to sign someone in January.

They are scoring out of their individual abilities, if they are start to be coached too we can very good

Ofcourse but you need balls to throw an 18 year old kid to the ground when you need results.

Solidifying Rashford's position as left forward is also seeming to be correct.

Every manager had been playing Rashford through the middle and Martial on the left while it took Ole all of one preseason to understand Martial is the center forward and Rashford works better with the ball and suddenly he's having the most prolific season of his career. If you ignore subtle tweaks like those, yes they have individual abilities and they are scoring.

This was the worst team in the league. No one's opinion of him should be changed because of the win. Still Ole out. There are far better managers available who want to be here, go get one of them.

Beating a crap team shouldn't be a big achievement. It should a normal day in the office. Not winning is the disaster, so weird logic.

I'm not falling for another false dawn another a crappy team and I doubt many will. Good performance, but nothing really more than that considering the state of the team we're playing.

Bet you’re fun at parties

Give credit when it's due, criticize when it's due. Evaluate at the end of the season.

Not that hard, is it? No need to start criticizing after a good win.

I am Ole out and I feel it’s with good reason, but I am just going to enjoy today. I will turn on MOTD later and watch it and really enjoy a good win.

If I have a rant at Ole, then it’s only fair to acknowledge a good performance. We can’t just turn on the blinders and use every single thing to argue our way.

One thing a win like this does show, is that we have good players, and we have very good young players. Both sides of the argument will make of that what they will, but any argument that rests on there being no quality in the side (whether that be defending Ole’s points total or complaining that he shouldn’t have let certain deadwood go), should be put to bed.

He has done well rooting out the weeds, the only question is if he should be in control of the coaching as the manager.

But that’s a question for another day, a 4-0 win at home, three quality young players on the scoresheet and a potential new left back coming out of the club’s own ranks!

Lets just enjoy the day and leave the debate until Monday morning!

Williams is a huge surprise and it is great to see those lungbursting runs forward instead of Shaw's 20 yard runs which end with him passing 5 yards backwards.

Rashford, Martial, Fred and McTominay are all improving this season which is great to see.

The main positive thing for Ole is that he still has the players trust. They play for him.

This.

For me this is the most important thing since managers don't really have to be great coaches anymore. Mourinho is a great coach but you can question his managerial skills. I feel that with Ole it is the other way around. I think he is a great manager but he needs great coaches around him to be a success.

People just said the exact thing in reverse last season 'get andreas in here it's impossible that he is worse than matic'

That's because half of them would be gone if another manger came in. They won't get the amount of chance Ole has given them. He's even protecting them even though they play like cnuts at times.

Same here, both in this fixture and when we played them away

my thoughts entirely, when Oles team play well they are good to watch, fast attacking football And i agree the best since SAF retired. A week later we are dire slo and painful.... Maybe its just how the other team set up that makes us so good one week and crap the next..
I’m on the fence with OLE as manager, i have reservations about him but willing to reserve judgement and allow him a little More time. Another 3 or 4 good signings and get everyone fit... then there could be a more consistent attacking team that can compete with the best.

He's said it's from his tactics to allow them some freedom. Do you forget how van gaal made us so robotic?
Nope. They are still freestyling and that's why no goal by them looks exactly the same. And why they badly need a teacher on the training ground to drill some movements into them and take them to the next level especially Rashford. If you are doing the simple things even better football will be more easy.

Also good to see the influence of a proper playmaker chipping in with points. Should hopefully show Ole and Woody that we need to sign someone in January.

Certainly. Bruno will help a ton in this regard. He could do what Mata done today week in week out

Great win, but now we got the big tests. Fair play if we can beat Liverpool.
Just as no one should get carried away today no one should base anything on the result against Liverpool either.

No doubt this thread will be active as soon as the first Liverpool goal goes in though.

I just wish we’d have gotten the decisions for us this year. I’m still furious at the Palace game at OT where we could have had three penalties and the awful decisions in that Sheff United away game. Add in the penalty at home to arsenal as well.

They are scoring out of their individual abilities, if they are start to be coached too we can very good
Yeah. Martial and Rashford weren't allowed freedom to express themselves and didn't manage to perform better with tactical coaching. Yes, obviously there's a middle ground we should aim for but I think it is perfectly fine to appreciate the positives we do get from the freedom our tactics give our players. They should be able to think for themselves on the pitch, and I really think this will do more good for their development as young players, than being forced into a system that might not suit them. They aren't world beaters right now, you can tell from their inconsistencies the way they mess up simple things, but the positives is that they are really shining when they get it right and it has something to do with allowing them to shine and encourage them. It might be a matter of preference but Ole has to get credit in the same way he can get critiqued for it. They have both improved their output which could be an important indicator to consider when drawing pro's and con's with this set up.

Some if you lot exaggerate football to the max. It isn't rocket science no matter how much you want it to be. Just because he's allowing to players to play to their desire and with freedom you are slating him and making out that it's a bad thing. Who the hell cares as long as we're winning

Good performance today. Have to say though, maybe it’s just me being miserable but I never thought I see such celebration amongst the fans over a home win over bottom of the league Norwich City. I know times have changed, maybe my expectations of the club are too high but it saddens me a little bit.

But I thought we played pretty well.

Aye, one of the few highlights of Ole's reign to date is the marked improvement shown by those you mention and the patient way he has handled the youth products. The players are clearly giving their all for him, most of them anyway.

Playing kids here and there and not making fuss about signings are the only reasons why he is not sacked by Ed.
Every United fan knew that Rashford is better on the left( or to say it better; we all knew that he is not striker). It was Ole's idea to put him on no9.
So to give him credit because he stopped doing something wrong is too much.
