The majority of those wins were with the feel good factor at the start of his reign. He has never regularly been able to reproduce that, except against the big boys and this week maybe shows that has gone as well. Other teams have our number and we don't have any other numbers to turn to.

@Majima it's not great, and it's a bit of a miracle that we are still sitting in 5th, CL within reach again, just like last season. Makes me wonder in what ways can we feck it up this time.
A good coach and some belief can turn this season around. There is no one in the Europa League that I would say has a far better squad than United. Chelsea are faltering, Spurs are descending into crisis and Arsenal still have one of the worst backlines in the league. Top 4 is still doable through both avenues and that would set us up to replace Pogba with quality in the summer, under a coach with a reputation for improving players.
de Gea, Romero, Maguire, Lindelof, Tuanzabe, AWB, McTominey, Fred, Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Greenwood are all good players. The problem is that they are not being coached. There needs to be a belief in a system and style of play.
If we get Poch in, sell Pogba and add 3 to 4 players in the summer, I really don’t think we are far away from competing.
The short term matters, because the quality of those 3-4 incoming players matters. We need to act now to make sure that Top 4 is attainable and that we can shoot for the Sanchos and Fernandes in the summer.
Im afraid that giving Ole more time is going to condemn us to mediocrity with no real improvements in how we play.

It's damning that our greatest performances under him came when his influence was minimal. It says it all. Since the first few matches, it's been a steady decline ever since. You expect the opposite to be happening, not gradually getting worse like we have.
Yeah he looks like he's out of ideas. Even his press-conferences there's a beaten feeling about him. Everything is stale and stagnant.

I wouldn't have a problem if he did speak out if he's being hindered. You get the impression though he is trying to keep the peace in the squad so he probably won't do it until he's been sacked.
There's a lot of people on the United board who are not ingratiated to the Glazers who can speak out, like Sir Bobby, Sir Alex or even David Gill. Its kind of weird putting the onus on Ole who happens to be the one person who needs to be in line with the ownership to get anything.
When Ole has gone he won't be speaking out either. I'm starting to think half our allocated transfer money is now going to keeping these people quiet.
There was booing around me at half-time the other night. A couple of regulars left at 3-0 and there were empty seats come the start of the second-half, left at half-time and didn’t return. Generally, that sort of stuff doesn’t sit well with me but I can’t blame them at this moment in time. I haven’t seen that before from those people.

If Ole has shown anything, it's that we'll have a couple of good results, to ease the pressure after a bad defeat.
Luckily, the rivals for 4th place are also a bit up and down and crap, so it's still very much open.
The role of manager/coach is ridiculously overrated in football. It's like my wife's boss. Her team of salespeople had a great year, due to a host of factors. My wife's boss took all the credit.
Hell, just a couple of years ago clubs wouldn't touch Brendan feking Rogers with a ten-foot pole. Ranieri won the league with outsiders, but he hasn't done much since or even before that.

Or perhaps the club are so burnt from hundreds of millions of pounds poorly invested that they are more anxious to take chances and willing to wait for the players they feel are the right fit for the future
The now, the future.. it’s the same argument either way, Ole in or Ole out. No manager is a sure thing or a safe bet, as highlighted by Van Gaal and Mourinho.

While on the subject, what is it with us sacking managers if we lose to Norwich? Wasn't that the club rumored to be Jose's end in October of 2018? It came up again in 2019 for Ole and now again. I remember the Jose sack if he loses rumors were a lot stronger though and it never happened. Someone help me out here? Who was the club, journo, and paper?

You talk as if the Glazers forced Ronaldo out of the club. There's been plenty of ex-players from that time including Fletcher, Neville and Rio who said he used to openly talk about going to Madrid for an entire season in the locker room.

disagree, the effect an elite manager can have on a club is sometimes absolutely staggering, see Guardiola and Klopp.

Yes and I think SAF had a deal with him to stay for one more year and he would let him go to Real. You are spot on about Woodward who has no clue at all in spending the money. Yes give him credit to get the commercial deals done but when he needs to back the manager he goes half way and then stops and fails.

Rannieri was a reputable manager even before he came to Leicester.

Lingard has been shite for awhile. Many fans on here has questioned his continued inclusion into our team long before Ole finally decide to drop him. The question should be asked that if lingard wasn’t absent whether he would have started this game.

Giving credit for starting a player who should have been doing so since the start of the season but Ole played JLingz instead? No thanks, Ole doesn't deserve any credit for that.
Great goal from Mata and Rashford but apart from individual brilliance we don‘t play and attack like a team. We pass sideways and backward, there are flips and some nice triangles but nothing organized.
With a manager who knows how to coach, one new dm, one creator and one left winger then this team has potential.

The main positive thing for Ole is that he still has the players trust. They play for him.

Very good performance and win tonight. However they're 20th team in the league. Nothing really to get excited about. I was predicting a win by at least 3 goals before the match.

Long long way to go before he gains my trust but good win today. We’ve beaten the worst team in the league at home, plenty of positives but nothing to get carried away with. Still 5 points off 4th when we had every chances to cut it down even further and he really has to finish top four.
Very good perfromance from the whole team today. Shouldn't change anyone views on Ole but good to know the players still playing for him well.
