He went for Thiago, Fabregas, Bale. Can't fault the man for his ambition tbf.

I bet if David Gill was still in charge Moyes would have landed at least one of those targets, instead Woodward was flying around in helicopters buying Fellaini for $5 million more than he was worth if they had bought him a week earlier... Ed failed to get any deal over the line that summer. His bids for Fabregas and Baines were idiotic at best. I almost forgot about the Herrera debacle where Ed hired intermediaries to buy Herrera and they fecked it up as well. The man cannot even figure out who to hire people to do a job properly.

“We wanted to see their characters because that’s not good enough what we did in the first half. [At half-time it was a case of] let’s see who’s got the belief, who’s got the pride, who’s got the character to turn this around? I thought the second half was a great response. We cannot ask for a better response really than the second half and, with the crowd, we went for it. We created some chances and that was more like it. We won it 1-0 and that means we’re still in the tie in a sense.”

Feck yeah Ole...feck yeah!!!!

Meanwhile lows are being reached again:

"United conceded three times at Old Trafford for the first time since losing 3-0 to Spurs in August 2018."

"This was United's first home League Cup defeat against a fellow Premier League side since January 2005 against Chelsea, having won 16 consecutive games of this type before this 3-1 defeat."

What about a comeback though? Unfeckinglikely....

The past 15 teams to win away from home in the first leg of a League Cup semi-final have all progressed to the final, with Spurs the last side to fail to do so, against Arsenal in 1986-87.

Yeah we generally break long standing records for the wrong reasons,so think it's highly unlikely we will end a 33 year hoodoo in three weeks time.

Expect to hear plenty of Ole bluster about us overturning a 2-0 defecit against PSG. Thank god he didn't come out with that daft mountains to be climbed line. He also smiled a bit in the post match interview when talking about the second half.

The worst thing for him is that he has now been found out in the big games and that was his one saving grace in moments of turmoil.

I am definitely getting the impression that the fanbase were united about Moyes, LVG, & Mourinho about not being the right manager, however in regards to Ole it's very split on the matter.

The match going fans generally want to keep him whereas the social media fans want to get rid.

I will hold my hands up and admit I am not a match going fan but if I was I would still feel exactly the same way.

I can understand people who say don't sack him as another manager won't get any more out of this squad, however at least then we might look properly coached even if the new guy hasn't got the players he wants.

Lukaku was top scorer and helped us to second, even when alienated by Ole he still gave us all that PSG night!

Did "jack all" my arse. He was a valuable player to have around, our squad is clearly in much worse shape than when Ole took over. If you think we're in better shape now that we were with Lukaku, have a look again pal.

Facts don't matter to Ole cultists.

Is that a real quote? Did he seriously say we won the second half 1-0?!

Is that a real quote? Did he seriously say we won the second half 1-0?!

Yes. As displayed on our propaganda website manutd.com

But they seem unreal don't they? That's Ole for you. Going with his words where no United manager has gone before. I wonder how the trophy for winning halves of matches looks like.

Honestly I still find it amazing that people on here still don't get the importance of a manager.

I mean, you'd think of all the fan-bases in the world, we'd know that better than anyone considering we had SAF.

Why do people continue downplaying how a manager can improve a team?

We've seen numerous examples recently of a manager transforming a team on the field without needing 3-4 years.

Because that's not how the fans on here think unfortunately, their emotions clouds their rationale / judgement to the degree they self sabotage any framework to be able to make an assessment regarding Solskjaer's managerial capabilities.

The typical Ole in fan is unable to come up with any logical reasoning outside of mentioning: Klopp or SAF, any relevancy to do with time, how crap the squad is at his disposal and the glazers .

Couldn't care any less about this club anymore. Honest to god. Been a supporter for 30+ years.

Fans accepting this mediocrity. Some will defend it to death. Makes me sick.

Woodward is the biggest con in the history of football. At the helmets of arguably the biggest football club in world football and have the fans accept this shower of shite week in, week out.

None of these players will get into a top side. None of these top clubs will be falling over their feet to hire Ole as manager.

Just what in gods green earth is there to defend here?

This club is done and it's not just because we lost to City. We've been losing in the most important areas for years and that pisses me off most more than this crappy 3-1 loss.

At this point these post game quotes where Ole seems oblivious to his plight is what I come for. 'Frick yea We won the 2nd half 1-0'. The 1st half was just a nice test for the boys. The man is now talking about games like routine coaching sessions. Doesn't even think he has to earn his job

Everything about Solskjaer is detestable at the moment. It's getting to that point now where his face echoes the shortcomings each game.

RVP was right about Ole's attitude after games it's an absolute joke. He's become obtuse to losing because he's under the idea the he will be given 5 years here to develop.

Solskjaer using Klopp as an example to prove he will be successful with time is like me being the fastest on bumper cars and saying I'll be the next Lewis Hamilton.

The 3-1 result flatters us clearly. The way we repeatedly surrendered the ball meekly should showcase our lack of coaching and any sort of game plan. Anyone who’s still ‘Ole In’ is living in some fantasy world expecting miracles to happen and has become delusional to the obvious right before our eyes. Just because Woodward is our problem does not mean that other facets can’t be improved.

We needed some positive press conferences when he first joined but it's got to a point where he's mocking the fanbase. We didn't win shit in this game and should be happy they stopped having a go at us in the 2nd half. Ole should start being more honest with himself and us.

We are in a better shape to rebuild than we were before Ole, which is what this squad needed
How so? Honest question. With every sacking, we are left with nearly half a team worth of deadwood, but when Ole gets the sack, we will have a fecking squad full of them, bar a few kids maybe.

No wonder we are so screw up. That is how he views the game. Soon, he will come out and say we won 1-0 in the first 15 minutes!

He knows better than anyone. He knows if He's made for the job. He knows his win record, how his team play, and knows if He's good enough to compete against the other top managers because that's where United belong.

If Ole still loves ManUnited, He would go to the Woodward by the end of season and tell him "I'm not good enough for this job, let me go". It's that simple. Why? because the board are clueless. Ole knows about it too. Let Phelan stays. But We need a better manager.

"Won second half 1-0" "we have funds but will only spend if needed or if right player is available"

It's just awful. With the state of the squad, we should be spending to improve it. Not that it should make much difference when manager is not good enough but we are even struggling with numbers in CM position.

I don't know how he survived till now, Woodward should do be dealing with Poch to take over.

Tbf to Ole, The comeback to lose 3-1 from being 3-0 down was amazing. Moments you live for as a supporter.

For people who keep saying He needs more transfer windows because We'll be in a much better position after He's done with the rebuilding process, even if He didn't win anything: Bollocks.

Stop making him a figure who somehow needs to sacrifice himself for the better of the club, long term, when in this very moment He's running it into the ground. Legend or no legend doesn't matter. Ole is a manager of ManUnited and should be judged as one. The biggest worry is our players and the team overall still lack coaching, still crumble under pressure. Ole fixed nothing that the previous manager hadn't.

What guarantees that the next manager after Ole will be able to reap the rewards from Ole's 'sacrifices'? Managers are smart arses. Especially those who know They have a lot of funds available to spend. Not mentioning the pressure of wanting/having to do a great job with the team. Because after all who would want to be seen as a failure when They've managed to land a top job?

Look at City. They've gone from Mancini -> Pellegrini -> Pep. The players under Mancini looked like They could be used by Pellegerini, so did the players under Pellegrini, They looked like They could be used by Pep. They're probably the team that had the most clear path of which managers and kind of playstyle They wanted to employ for the future. Steadily improving. Well guess what happened? Pellegrini and Pep still spent a feck ton of money and got rid of tons of players.

But there's one thing that remained, Pep didn't have to be Van Gaal MK II where He had to spend 6 months teaching the players how to pass the ball and still failed to do it. It's the basics that the City team were used to that provided foundations for the next managers. Aguero, David Silva, KdB weren't just speed merchants who could only play Kick n Rush football. Play them under Ole and I guarantee you after 3 years, even if Pep replaces Ole after that, He'll find himself having to teach them what or what not to do because running fast and kick it hard will be the only thing They're used to do for years.

Our squad looks good for the future of ole. Not for his successors. So why not hire another, better, proven manager right away rather than waiting for this man to spend 500 million? Who on earth is going to continue his legacy of young, british core that just need to enjoy their football and rely on pressing + counter attack? Giggs? Neville?

You moan about the board not having a clue. They will be even more clueless if Ole really stays here for 5 years. We know ManUnited is outdated, our current manager is also outdated, a match made in hell but helped by the rose tinted glasses that people wear for their legend. The players He brought will still be sold when the next manager comes in, the players He brought will still lack the basics of football and tactics, the amount of money He spent would have been massive.

What excuse do you have now? "We beat big teams, He just needs to find a way to unlock low block teams". Well? as predicted. Pep wouldn't fall for the same thing multiple times. But Ole has fallen into the same things for 20 times with little or no change from tactical point of view. Not good enough for United, thank you Ole but let go of the position at the end of the season. Before your biggest achievement (PSG win) gets eclipsed by countless of boring, dumb, loser football.

And I'm just seeing the 'grand masterplan' is to wait out Liverpool and City's cycle. What top level strategy we have here. Maybe we should have Ole and his staff brainstorm the Iran situation.

We are in a better shape to rebuild than we were before Ole, which is what this squad needed, and if you think we should have kept a player who said he wanted out from the club since his second game and continues to chat crap about the club would have seen us in a better position then they are some low standards keep. The guy is a donkey who is a better than average poacher, nothing special. Some people can see past one game at a time and reaslise that the club and not just the squad is a mess, 'pal'.

The squad Ole inherited needed few key signings in defense and attack to challenge, they finished 2nd the previous season and gave Ole the honeymoon period that landed him the job.

The current squad looks as if it needs an entire new midfield and attack and even the defense isn't that good. Needs plus 350m spent or so in the upcoming markets to have any chance of a challenge, or even to finish 2nd or 3rd. Only 2 youngsters played looked any kind of worth (Williams and Greenwood).

No one told me in order to rebuild you need to nuke the entire squad and start from from scratch. By all means that's a terrible way of rebuilding.

The squad is in far worse state now and needs even more spending than the squad Ole inherited and that's coming after him getting his summer and spending 130m on defense and we still look as crap in defending as ever.

Congratulations on winning the second half trophy! We are the new Liverpool of their decline era in almost every way it's frightening. Staying 20 years or so without a title with this rate looks well on the cards.

Can’t even blame Ole for yesterday. I look at the bench and who we have available and you can’t compete with City like that. The squad is awful.

Forget about our results for a moment. Let’s just analyze how we play as individual and as a team.

1. Movements

a) some players just run like headless chickens. (Pereira, Lingard, James)
b) some players just strolling around (Matic, Martial (on his bad days).
c) we have those who don’t know how and when (Lindelöf, Maguire, Shaw, Jones)
d) players without legs (Matic and Mata)

2. Passings

a) those who over hit and under hit the ball (almost everyome)
b) players who hoof it in the air under pressure (DDG, Young, Shaw, Maguire, Pereira, Lingard)
c) players without vision (Lingard, Pereira, James, Rashford, Martial, Shaw, AWB, McTominay)
d) players who hold on to the ball to long (Maguire, Shaw, Pereira)

3. Synchronized

a) when we press only four to six players do it together, the rest just wait or moving backwards
b) when we defend our defenders don’t drop or push up like a unit
c) on set pieces we’re all over the place, we don‘t use designed movements, we don’t screen, we don’t work as a team.

4. Details

a) we repeat the same mistakes over and over again. (corners)
b) some players takes to many touches before the pass the ball
c) most of our players don’t run into open spaces and makes themselves available to receive passes
d) silly fouls (Pereira)
e) stupid mistakes over and over again (Lindelöf)

A good coach knows how to drill his players to improve their movements. He instruct his players when and how to pass the ball. He make sure that players don’t repeat silly mistakes. He makes them aware of details.

A experienced manager creates leaders on and off the pitch. He hold players accountable. He sets standards.

A winner don’t smile when we lose. A winner don’t use excuses after a loss. A winner talks when we win, stays as silent as possible when we lose or play bad. A winner have a vision, a formula how to make his players better.

All above is things that a good manager can improve in one season. A very good manager can implement his ideas in a few months, sometimes in a few weeks.

Sadly we don’t have a fraction of the basics that is necessary to improve and maximize our players potential.

A wise manager understands his limitations and hire specialist coaches who complement his skill sets. (SAF)

Time for Ole to go. He has failed on almost every fundamental level how to properly coach his players and his positive impact on the team is minimal.

We can give him all the time he wants, it won't get better. Ole will not the attract the players he thinks he needs and will settle for the likes Longstaff and nothing will change next season.

That's not even taking the limits as a manager, his crap team selections, man management and poor coaching team he assembled.

This is spot on I'm afraid.

Look at the approach, authority and clear leadership being shown by Nuno @ Wolves.. Lampard @ Chelsea... Wilder @ Sheff Utd (is their squad much better than ours?) Gerrard @ Rangers... these managers display an immediate sense of complete control and responsibility. Not this ongoing, often contradictory narrative from OGS.

He is way out of his depth.. an enthusiast, a fan.. But not a manager of one of the biggest sporting institutions on the planet. I can see him walking out as it goes, because this second half of the season could be pretty, pretty rough.

The Executive also needs to change, as this sets the tone for the ongoing shambles.

If only we still have Herrera in the team! We missed McT so much.
I don't know what to think anymore. And we have yet to sign anyone in this January transfer window!

Someone needs to advice him on his post match demeanour.
No matter how well intended, at some point it looks like he's taking fans for mugs.

I’m loving the downfall by some fans here, throwing their toys out the pram because we’re losing at the moment. HahaHahaha!!

It’s all they’ve ever known so when things go differently they start to go all irrational like I don’t care about this club anymore!! Entitled to say the least.

*complains Jose is too scathing in press conferences and post match interviews and calls out his players in public

then complains Ole is too happy in press conferences and post match interviews and doesn’t call his players out in public

Hmmmm

Say it time and time again, a lot of fans don’t have patience & if we go on a run like Liverpool did, 30 odd years of nothing, then I expect most of these fans to jump ship and support City.

It’s a joke an absolute joke the state of it in here at the moment.

I’ve posted many times links where Ole has called out his players in a brutal manner, bjt in private, the way it should be might I add, but of course no one reads those articles because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

Oh and you all think Poch will save this club with a magic wand with our sh*tshow of a squad. Incredibly thin and light and most of the players are either young or getting towards the end of their careers? WOW! Delusion.

It’s a unique situation, one that needs time and transfer windows, but unfortunately not many of you a patient enough to wait.

Someone needs to advice him on his post match demeanour.
No matter how well intended, at some point it looks like he's taking fans for mugs.

He literally is.

His comment of how we won the 2nd half is a disgrace to this club.

We're all being taken for mugs.

Yeah, at full-time as he was walking around I could tell he was trying his hardest to not smile, because its clearly his natural demeanour, but he knows now its not the best look. But christ the smirking and smiling post match just feels like he's taking the piss. It seems so pathetic from us to get annoyed by it, but it paired with the dog shit performances its grating, its very grating.

I also think the United job is too big for him. But I mean if you look at the two teams yesterday. Every player from the Man City squad yesterday (exept maybe Bravo, Garcia) would have been in the starting 11 for united, even the players on the bench. Other way around no player exept maybe Rashord/De Gea would have a chance to be in the Man City squad.

So what do you expect from Ole? I think he's not the best coach from the PL but also not the worst. But who would come in half season and take over this united? As United I would think really hard about what the next coach should bring and then convince the right guy that he comes at the end of the season or maybe a bit earlier.

He literally is.

His comment of how we won the 2nd half is a disgrace to this club.

We're all being taken for mugs.

just imagine the uproar if Moyes said that.

the only reason we won the second half is because city took their foot off the gas yet our foolish gaffer thinks we deserve credit for “winning the second half” such an embarrassing statement.

I’m loving the downfall by some fans here, throwing their toys out the pram because we’re losing at the moment. HahaHahaha!

It's not that we're losing at the moment - it's that we are actually proper shit and some people seem to accept the fact.

Utter shit cannot be allowed to become the new normal at Utd.
