RVP rattled Ole's cage. It was needed. He has far too used to pundits patting him on the back. Nice that Robin as so honest.

He has the right to voice his opinion, even if it's a shit opinion. Guy has never managed before, and I thought Ole was being nice by not mentioning that. I remember when Mourinho went after Neville and Scholes' coaching records when they criticised him, and of course the Jose fans sided with him, but at least those two have been in the hotseat. Ole had a point when he said he doesn't know him, he doesn't know how he's like in the dressing room, and Ole clearly wasn't happy on the touchline. Guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

What does it have to do with him being a manager previously or not? He didn't go into any deep tactical analysis of Ole's style of play. He just said he should be more angry with that performance rather than spreading smiles everywhere after a loss. He said it in a respectful manner as well. It's coming from a player that has played under 2 of the best ever managers in the history of the Premier League and saw them dealing with losses in and out of the dressing room so of course he knows what he's talking about in that regard, of course more than you and me.

Ole has been having a complete free ride from the media and pretty much from all our ex players in it. Someone like Scholes who has been slaughtering LvG and Mourinho non stop came on early in the season and said we need several transfer windows to be able to finish top 4! But now an ex player decides to go out of that routine and say a simple notice on Ole in a respectful and suddenly Ole blasts him in the presser with pretty weird quotes. So what if he was slaughtered non stop from everyone else in the media like the previous 2 managers, what would he have done then if he can't handle the slightest criticism?

Terrible quotes that I couldn't imagine while reading or listening to.

RVP was going from experience of being a player whose managers would have been well and truly p*ssed off if him and his teammates had put in a performance like that. He knows that players need a fire lighting under them.

I just watched it and he doesn’t really seem that angry to me, he handles it well and defends himself, it’s not really a big deal.

Is it though? He has showed he will ship out anyone not suited for the task. But because he dosent put up a mean face, the players is not afraid of him?
The constant smiley demeanour, his very mild post-match interviews (even after we've been shockingly bad), his constant sucking up to Pogba and his agent... fair enough we don't know what happens behind closed doors but certainly how he holds himself makes it appear that players can take the mick and get away with it. This is the first time I've seen a hint of nastiness in his time with us.

RvP and Rio were spot on with their analysis and I said at the time that Rio stopped short of backing what RvP said fully. Today we’ve seen why.

While it’s nice to have people like Rio and Scholes doing punditry on our games, it does cloud your judgement having that connection to so many people at the club.

Its good to see some tough questions being fielded to Ole as he has been getting an easy ride. I find it interesting that Ole often refers to players doing well in training and when it comes to match day we serve up another toothless performance. To me that reflects that the training sessions are not of a high enough standard. Lets not forget that it is a similar coaching team that was failing under Mourinho too.

He's fuming imo. Love RVP but what he said isn't any helpful. Like Ole would need more pressure atm ...

It's not his job as a pundit to be helpful though. It's his job to say what he thinks. Just stands out as an ex Utd guy who isn't close to Ole, like certain other pundits atm.

Yeah for everyone saying he shouldn't have said them comments ! Can you imagine Fergie smiling after a loss and even more so a loss to Arsenal!! He'd be fuming.

About bloody time!

Honestly Ole has looked like has aged considerably since becoming fulltime manager, just like Moyes & Jose before him the job is sucking the life out of him, let's be honest here with some of the thing's he says you can't help but feel the only reason ED Woodward & the Glazers had him take over at the helm is due to their ability to be able to control him.

I can't see thing's change anytime soon, and we will continue to languish at midtable for the foreseeable future because the Glazers & Ed Woodward have no reason to leave unless the club starts losing a lot of money.

Talk of building for the future is an obvious lie, we are building nothing and staying where we are.

Agreed he needed it. I believe ole was right to have a little bite back. 90% of us would have done the same. The houlier than thou brigade that seem to exist everywhere claim they wouldn't which is fair enough, they are probably a better human than me.

A bit of criticism is part of the game and ole has been free of media criticism to a certain extent. Time to see what hes made of

Ole is completely out of his depth (worse than Moyes) BUT I do love how he dealt with the last question. That was off the cuff.
I don't, it was poor form by ole to mention the 20 jersey. This wasn't a debate about who was the better player, it was a question of why you are smiling about an inept performance.

Doesn't look upset

Spoilt it a bit with the 'not in the medieval times' bit at the end, not sure why smiling or been grumpy would be modern or old fashioned, Ole just has that demeanour and personality, if that comes with the results then it's all good, if it doesn't, then he will be called out for it more and more. Just like Jose was for been a grumpy beggar, and LvG and Moyes were for their grating personality traits when things were going wrong.

Love the response from Ole. Criticism is one thing but getting personal isn’t correct. Any one who saw Ole play knows he isn’t Mr Nice Guy he could mix it up and had real fight in him. He’s more than capable of giving a bollocking when he has to I’m sure

that's the thing. He can't even sell his project to a fellow Norwegian, whom he previously coached and whose been a team mate to his father. No wonder why we seem only interested in British players who want to join the club irrespective of whom the manager or their project is.

Such a stupid assertion, with feck all to back it up.

RVP didn't get personal, he just said grinning and laughing after that performance was not the right reaction from a manager which is wasn't. The bit about the jersey was petty. Ole was our super sub and scored the winning goal in a CL final , RVP won SAF his last title and our 20th. They are both loved by the fans.

Not helpful to whom? A failing manager who looks out of his depth or Manchester United?!
No issues with RVP for calling him out. None of his ex team mates would have the back bone. Ole in charge reminds me of Del Trotter. Happy go lucky. Very lucky boy to be manager of Man Utd as he is out of his depth

RVP: "I want to see Ole more edgy"

Caf: "RVP is spot on"

*Ole gets more edgy*

Caf: "Pressure has got to Ole. He is RATTLED"

he said he’s too nice a guy.

 They might surprise us. Sometimes when they have had their backs against the wall is when they show up. All depends what team he sends. I wouldn't be surprised if it is full of kids.
Take each game as it comes and dont get your hopes us. We have no consistency in our performances which is one of the reasons why i dont think Ole is the man. Romero Williams Young Jones Mata Greenwood will all start

He never took your number 20 shirt, he took Fabio’s :)

In all seriousness though, what a strange thing to say. Ole left in 06 and Robin signed in 2012. He didn’t take anything of his and Robin was corrrect.

he said he’s too nice a guy.
Yes. Which he might not be, but that is the impression he gives after every game. If you win or lose but with a fight then be happy with the efforts, if they have performed badly at least look a tad annoyed about it. At times it is like he is managing a bunch of kids, not seasoned professionals most of who have international tournament experience.

It’s bizzare isn’t it, some just have it out for Ole no matter what he does.
You get more balanced comments from scousers than some of these lot.

Edgy towards the players, not RvP. Imagine you have a naughty cat, a very naughty cat and instead of disciplining it, when your neighbor's kid walk into your house and say "You have a very naughty cat! He's scratching your sofa!" you give the kid a spanking instead of disciplining the cat.

Fans want to see Ole more fired up over our shit and disgraceful performances. Not over what a pundit has said. How hard is that to grasp?

Edginess to players should be kept behind the scenes thanks, not in front of the TV cameras after footie matches.

Yeah because fans wanting to see Ole show more fight and passion over our performances this season is the same as him getting rattled over what a former United player has said on TV. RvP's comments clearly got to him for whatever reason.
