Gotcha, we can't question Ole for anything until the end of 20/21 season. This is exactly the reason we are in such a deep shite with our mystical 3 year "process".

Mate since our new manager has started we’ve knocked out PSG in the CL and he’s picked up more points in the prem than anyone.

He can’t do much fecking more.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: .........wait.......:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:.........wait....... :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:.

That has to be the best explanation about jose being jose. its all other peoples fault.

You're either a troll or just a massive jose fan.

Well done, you're that women (who looks like a skeleton) on trumps side, alternative facts.
I can see why he was promoted; great entertainment:lol:

Christie in the forum classic 'I've said something silly, and I'm going to defend it by being increasingly silly until people are fed up and move on' mode.

It's a squad that finished second last season. Since Ole is a better manager than our previous hires, he should be challenging for first at the minimum.

Are you defending Moyes and criticizing the board for sacking him too early? It's not his squad!

Should Mourinho have been fired in his first and third season then? You agree with that?

It's all about getting results now. Next season we have to be much better organised though. We concede possession too easily and can't press well.

Do some people actually want him out before he’s even signed a player?

Solskjaer will want to build a youthful, dynamic United team and is in tune with the club traditions. He has my support completely.

Yep!

The same posters who want us to sign all the world's best players and spend 20 billion!

I just want to remind everyone here that its the players on the pitch who are responsible for: Following the gameplan. Hitting their teammates with passes, not make huge mistakes that leads to goals against (Looking at you Rojo, De Gea), and score goals when the chance is there.

The negativity here is astounding.

So I ask this:

What would YOU do differently to make this team play lights out under your expert tenure during this trying time?

Edit: Everyone are missing what an absolute titan Lindelöf has become after Ole came. He's going to be the backbone of our defense for years to come.

Expect a few hundred expert coaches on the Cafe to answer that!

There's a fair few mad fellas posting on this forum these days isn't there? This one's giving the worst of them a run for their money at least.

The meltdown from some here is sad to see. We won and that is the important part. People keep moaning about performance, then ignore the fact that we performed well against Barca, and were the better side against Wolves and Arsenal. But because we lost, that is irrelevant. These things happen in football, and with our injuries, suspension and need to rotate players, performances were bound to go down. Especially as we have little quality in the squad as is. At this time of the season, grinding out results is the most important.

Just seems to be some butt hurt fanboys who either are still crying about Jose, or are desperate for Pochettino that are being the most vocal. He has done extremely well to get us where we are from where we were.

Wow! delusional much.

In case you haven't noticed, our older players are another year older and nearer retirement whilst the younger players haven't become any more consistent. Also the competing teams have got better whilst we've stood still/gone backwards.

The next season or two is going to require patience and realism from our fans, not the complete bollocks highlighted above. It's this complete lack of any sort of realistic target from fans that will lead to over-reactions from fans.

Others have taken you to task for your utter lunacy but it has to be said again.

What an insane few posts you've made in here.

Well, there is some difference between title contenders and title winners, the core of our weakness in this team lies in the midfield which is unable to shield the defence and control games with and without the ball with high energy so as to win maximum second balls to keep control and keep that control of the midfield, secondly the back line which needs serious improving. I think with some intelligence and screwed planning we should be able to cover those short commings in the team to better what we already have. If this team gets a strong defence and a commanding midfield i think our efficiency in forward areas will improve greatly as well and this should be enough to mount a strong title challenge and fill that gap between title winners and us to around 5-7 points.

Other weaknesses which might keep us behind the actual winners could be lack of creativity with other areas of the pitch except pogba, inconsistency and that lack of ruthless efficiency needed to win the title which makes a team greater than sum of it parts. While Creativity issues can be solved with screwed recruitment, the other two might hold us back becoming the champions still with proper recruitment this team should definitely be title challenger and amongst the mix.

Its on ole Woodward and the new sporting director to have a screwed transfer market to provide the platform for the manager to compete and pose threat in a title race which is the bare minimum expectations in a manager at this club with the pressure to win at least some cups.

So I would say expecting a title challenge is a realistic expectation rather than delusional.

What i would like and expect from Ole is to improve our players on a training ground. Those who cant be improve, replace them.

These demands for top 4 or title challenge dependable of amount spent in transfer window are just waste of time tbh. We done all of that in the past and here we are again, talking about another rebuild. Have a feeling we could spend 500 mil. still we wouldnt know how, imagine being bad at scatter gun approach.

Since SAF, no focus behind our spending, our play style, type of player we were bringing in, its like empty shell. There is no that feeling of progress, building up towards something and i fear that spending X amount of money wont fix it. It will look like a fix at the start but then slowly it will bring us where we now.

So maybe expectations should be aimed at performances on the pitch, i know there are many of us with win> regardless of performance but seems we cant get away with that approach for long, it always catches us up.

Very important summer coming up for us. We should get a glimpse of Ole's authority at the end of the transfer window. If he's bulldozing the fringe players, we will know we got the right guy.

Wrong appointment for a club of our size. Anyone thinking otherwise is delusional or just extremely optimistic.

Third strike for Ed.

He wasn't backed and was turned toxic by the board.

Time will tell whether the board will turn Ole toxic as well. You can see it coming if Ole isn't backed. And if Ole is backed, he has huge shoes to fill as he has to at least challenge for the title or be deemed a downgrade. Only his results will show us if he is an upgrade or downgrade.
 Huge shoes to fill

I don't think it's a coincidence that Mourinho fanboys are the most negative ones with Solskjaer. They can't accept that we kicked his toxic arse and now we are happy without him. They just can't digest it and I love it.

Not from what I've seen.

Most of the negative(if you even call it that, I'd use the term cautious) ones with Ole are the ones who despised Jose the most.

We went into pre-season after Ole took over from Mourinho.
In the summer Ole will bring players he thinks can gel into a good team.
Our Youth system is doing good.
We simply need to retain quality players like Herrera...if it is still possible and bring in players who will strengthen the team.
Lets not forget Ole changed the training regime. Why we had all those injuries.

Just buying big names is not the solution.

From a transfer perspective so far I've found one to be a mixed bag. While the departures of Valencia fellani and potentially darmian and Rojo are very welcome, the new contract for Jones and young not so much .

Let's see how ruthless he is with the likes of Sanchez, come the summer.

Actually, the most negative ones are the posters who wanted Poch to replace Jose. In general, these are the same people who were among the first to call for LVG’s sacking, then Jose and now are hinting it for Ole by saying things like I really hope Ole does well but the past few months nothing has changed.
Unfortunately, our fanbase at least on here has adopted a quick fix and instant results mentality that is not reflective of United of the past, nor of the future if we want to be successful in the long run.

Good of the forum to judge Ole after 4 months and zero transfer windows. He's not brought in a single player, except some youth from our academy. Give him time.

Klopp had 2.5 years before last year when he did well. And this is his 4th year at the Collingwood and finally they're challenging for the title. God forbid we give Ole more than that in months before the doom-merchants emerge.

The negativity here from our "fans" is disturbing.

Let's just forget about the results for a second. The football we have been playing is refreshing and entertaining. Even in the games where we have low possession, we show a willingness to put men forward when we counter.

Ole wants to play a pressing game but the players don't have the fitness for it yet. Playing out the back is also another area that need work. With some smart additions and good preseason work, we can be a different outfit next season.

It's been a long time since I posted here, while I absolutely hated Mourinho's tenure with us, Solksjaer's appointment is even more sillier IMO. He was the perfect interim manager, but it looks like we are going to waste another year with another poor, hurried managerial appointment. Yes Solksjaer hasn't signed any players yet, but I don't think he is a coach, I kept on saying that we needed a coach when LvG was here and Mourinho was here and now again we have shot ourselves in the foot and appointed a manager instead of a coach.

I really have no idea why the feck Woodward couldn't wait until the end of the season to appoint Solksjaer, it's not like Real Madrid and Barcelona were waiting in the wings to sign him up.

The view that anything but a title challenge would be a huge downgrade from Mourinho, who failed to produce a single title challenge, is a bit out of place to be honest.

It was about rewarding him for his performance early and setting the direction for the club for the next 12 months.

Considering our options on the market I think it was the right choice. All top managers who are proven are in the job and we would likely have had to go for a second rate experienced manager either. We may as well give the opportunity to a former player who had a relatively successful management career in his domestic league and has done brilliant job here since coming in December. Sort of what Real did with Zidane and Barca did with Pep.

But Guardiola is a very good coach, Zidane had world class players at his disposal and extremely professional and motivated players like Ronaldo, Modric, Ramos etc.

Of course all top managers are in a job, if they aren't they wouldn't be top would they? Hiring a manager is as important as buying players, would you agree if we don't sign good players saying that they are all contracted somewhere else? Managers who were performing well in leagues like Serie A are struggling here in the PL, how would success in Norwegian league translate to here? Also we could have easily rewarded Solksjaer by offering him the job at the end of the season.

Absolutely. It would only be a downgrade had Mourinho actually managed to challenge for the title.

Truth is that despite finishing 2nd (and falling to pieces thereafter), Mourinho's United remain a disjointed and lopsided football team that requires fixing. When Mourinho came, given the relative strength of the opposition, I expected us to challenge soon, or at least be there or thereabouts. However during his tenure, despite a few achievements, our rivals have sped past us and created a big gap.

I still feel we have a related squad and if Ole gets everything right we could be a team that hovers 6/7 points away from the leaders next season. That was would be a very good accomplishment.

FFS all the folks slagging Ole off when hes had 4 months to try and play catchup without any of his players or time to train his ideas into the team. At least give him a transfer window and a pre season to get them closer to the team he wants.

Ageee.

It's fair to express disappointnent over recent peformances. But Ole deserves the summer to show us what his Manchester United team looks like.
