Mate you can review the first 2 months of each of our signings in the last 5 years and you'll see they were great too. Darmian won POTM in his first month, Lukaku and Matic were machines that were supposed to fix all our problems after their first 2 months, Bailly was rock solid and our future in defense after his first few months, Di Maria, Blind, Depay, etc, etc.

Can you explain why they turned to shit all of a sudden?

Honestly anyone complaining about the squad quality, when over the last three games we've struggled to beat Astana and Rochdale needs their head looking at. I get it, we need some new players and many players are under performing but whilst that argument has some merit when we face PL opposition, it goes out the window against these kinds of clubs.

It's so bad players are genuinely regressing. Coaching is paramount at this level and we are so far away from where we need to be.

I’d love it if we won the UCL next year and all the moaners in here pretend that they always knew Ole had it in the bag

He’ll come good.

Answer this question honestly.

Of the following players, how many would be automatic starters for the top 10 clubs in the PL?

Chong, Periera, Lingard, Matic, Young, Mata and Fred. All of whom have started their fair share of games this season (injuries have contributed somewhat, admittedly) and will continue to do so for the remainder of the season.

This is where I’m at now. I’d include the likes of McTominay, too.

We’ve got three quarters of a good back line (hence we seldom concede buckets), but outside of Martial, Pogba and James I’d be happy to see the back of every other player in midfield and attack.

It's most concerning that we look no different than what we were under Mourinho at his worst or even Moyes.

In fact the only time we ever looked like we were coached to follow a certain tactic was LVG and that was still boring as piss.

It really shouldn't take this long to implement a style of football. Ole isn't good enough and the coaching staff aren't blameless either. Our team has no discernable identity at the moment.
That's because we still are a Jose side by structure. Nothing new has been added. It's just deteriorating as time goes on.

It really looks like running is the only thing we worked on all pre-season and they can't even work on that properly considering the lack of intensity we have played with all season.

He just needs to go asap.

Mata, Lingard and maybe Fred at an absolute push. None of those players are good enough and I agree. So why did he give Mata a 3 year deal and 2 years for Young? Bin them off and get someone in if you're not convinced by them, but he must be?

Stick with Ole and keep the faith!

Things will get better.

We've not had the same groups of players for every manager.

We just played fecking Rochdale and had to rely on pens.

And we've not scored over 1 goal since the Chelsea game.

And Ole was happy with the squad going into the season. He's a complete novice. Moyes 2.0.

We haven't had the exact same players, no, but the majority of LVG's and Jose's signings were still playing for the club come the end of last season. This squad is very much the work of LVG and Jose, which has been lumbered on to Ole.

Ole clearly isn't a top level coach and he isn't capable getting this lot to perform, but I genuinely question wheher there is a manager in the game today capable of getting more from this squad.

I mean if they didn't learn from Moyes, they won't ever learn.
Nah.

"He knows the United way".
"Needs more time".
"4-5 Transfer windows and to spend as much as Jose".
"Fix the mess from the previous 6 managers".
"Klopp also relegated Mainz".
"What if we didn't give Fergie a chance 30 years ago".
"Players are shite".

Worst appointment from a top club since PL history. We will still have delusional fans even after he's sacked.

And calling him a “cretin” remains the mark of a wanker. That isn’t separating the two. It’s just being a bellend.
I agree. There is a difference between calling that out and saying he ''should quite rightly be here for the long term''. He deserves nothing of the sort.

Aren't you that massive LvG fan boy who moaned when we finished 2nd?

I’m not, no. I argued that Van Gaal should be sacked the December Mourinho was let go by Chelsea. Perhaps you’re thinking of somebody else. Bizarrely enough, Mourinho was horrendous.

I moaned when we finished second yes. Well before that, too. And after. Because I knew the football was terrible and the manager was more interested in tearing the club apart for personal gain as opposed to doing what was best for it. Which was true.

I honestly feel next 3 league games will be
Arsenal lose
Newcastle Draw
Liverpool lose

He wont last if it happens as he isn't getting anywhere with that group players and no improvement. I know it's long term project but there has to be at least something happening to encourage a positive future in the short term. Were absolute dire to watch and players look clueless on the ball when attacking.

Hope I'm wrong but not enjoyable anymore watching utd.

It's like learning to ride a bike, he will learn eventually right? :D

Nope, absolutely no other manager would have beaten Rochdale today on our own turf. It's the players.

Just looking at his demeanor on the sideline must be enough to know how clueless he's and of course how uninspiring he must be for the players. Totally Moyes level of cluelessness and LVG level of being uninspiring and bland.

Who is coming back into to the team that is going to make such a big difference?

I'd say only Greenwood looks semi good enough. Chong & Gomes don't look ready to me at all. He's only playing them because the transfer window went to shit, again.

I actually think he will.

And if you let a severely under qualified builder do some work on your home for a year just because you knew him in College then I would love to see the state of your house at the end of it.

Settled teams with the odd change LEARN and build better. Injuries disrupt team relationships on the pitch. That split second where you can see players unsure of where and what their teammates will do is precisely due to a lack of a settled midfield or reliance on the oil-tanker speed of Matic as the fulcrum.
Give me McTominay, Fred and Pogba or at the very least McTominay and Pogba for at least 5 games and Martial and Rashford and James fit with a settled back 4 of Wan, Tuan/Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw and we can judge.

If the builder has built a nice small house and worked as an apprentice on a historic project I'd be happy to invest in his potential if the last Supreme award-winning architects have been cast aside for poor workmanship

Sorry but he is out of his depth. And we need to do something now before we leave it late like last year.

So Fergie made our philosophy but Barca is different because there philosophy was made by Johan Cryuff??

Do you know how silly this sounds? I tell you what maybe we hire a coach with the same playing principles as Fergie. We can then copy your Barca example.

Fergie made our philosophy? Do you know anything about Manchester United? Fergie didn't make 'our' philosophy. You have no idea, pointless in talking to you about Manchester United

This is indirectly implying you think Ole is one of the best managers in the world which I'm sure you don't think he is.

We can't score more than 1 goal. We don't need Messi or Ronaldo to score goals.

I agree. There is a difference between calling that out and saying he ''should quite rightly be here for the long term''. He deserves nothing of the sort.

I’m glad you agree. Hence I haven’t taken an issue with any post criticising his management. I’ve had a pop at the posters personally abusing a club legend.

I think he will be here as part of a long term project and I’m happy to buy into it. If it fails then it fails. But given the squad situation I’d like to club to roll with it and back him with real spend.

I’m not defending that performance. But I’m still prepared to wait out the season. I certainly didn’t defend Mourinho and Moyes either. But this squad is seriously poor and Ole needs time to sort it out.

We have one good midfielder at the club. There isn’t a manager around that can guarantee the sort of creativity we clearly want to see.

This wasn't the main problem though. We just didnt have any idea of what to do once we reached the final third. We lack movement which is a result of no training. Players remaining static because they have no information on what they are meant to do other than standing int heir natural positions. In the first half it was obvious that Rojo who some thought was the best player was actually the reason we couldn't attack effectively because he wouldnt overlap which saw chong constantly double teamed. That all changed in the second half when we brought on our young leftback who consistently provided support.

You look at teams like arsenal and chelsea who also have shit players but they never struggle against smaller teams. Why? Because their fullbacks always overlap which opens up other parts of the pitch creating better opportunities. They then struggle against Top 10 teams because they lack good players. I dont want to say coaching is easy but why wont Ole put more emphasis on our players overlapping when its a proving method for beating down low blocks? Its all City ever do most times when not on the counter.

And we're not terrible now? It took like 2 secs to find you calling our previous manager a cnut and a fraud and they first or early second season so maybe wind it in.

I don't condone such language against any of our own managers but those who dish it out shouldn't moan about others doing it., especially when you're calling mods useless

I hope you are right but I have a feeling you won't be.

We should stick with OGS he will come good, just look at his record.

A Manager for 10 years.
Won the Norwegian league in 2011 & 2012.
Won Norwegian cup 2013.
Got Cardiff City relegated.

That's the CV of a great teams manager.

I don't want him sacked already but definitely want couple on the backroom team to go and brought in few more experience personal who excels on training ground work and than we can access at the end of the season when there will be viable option available to replace him be it Poch, Nagelsmaan or whoever.
