The hate Mouroinho has earned stems primarily from him sabotaging a few games to prove his point that we needed to spend money on a defender.
We may well have needed another CB. But to use McT as a pawn to prove his point was unforgiveable.
We play West Ham tomorrow.
That match stands out for what what he did.

Its the modern football fans mentality on an internet forum - everything now. Immediate success. Instant improvement.

Talk to people in real life and the general opinion is far more considered. We have a lot of talent in our squad but also some weak areas. Its not good enough right now to compete with the likes of City or Barcelona, but we actually did manage to compete pretty well with them on Wednesday. For me Ole and the staff get enormous credit for that.

Now that we have a sniff of the top four this season (again, enormous credit) I'd really love us to get there. I'm intrigued by the thought of how we will approach the window this summer and I'd hate for us to be hamstrung by lack of CL football.

For the posters that are already spewing criticism and their 'fears' and 'doubts' about our manager - chill the f out. Its way too early and actually just plain wrong IMO to be feeling that way at this time.

Ole has managed to bring back the 'United of old' mentality. I love hearing him talk about what we can achieve. Its such a refreshing stance compared to the lack of respect our last manager consistently displayed towards the club and its player. I implore all of us to try to back him and the players until its the right moment not to do so.

Not that im calling for his head btw but why is it so wrong ?
Some of us said from day one Moyes would be a disater and we were right.
Some of us also said before Jose even managed a game for us that he would not be a success and would be a match made in hell for Manchester United and we were right again.

Why is it such a bad thing to see things for what it is instead of blindly "giving someone time".

I actually respect these people.

I think the problem a lot of fans have with Ole is he didnt get the job in the first place on merit.
He got it on sentiment and the whole "United" way bullshit.

He didnt earn it Like say a Fergie or a Jose.

Ole has managed to bring back the 'United of old' mentality

Initially but not anymore.
One could say in recent weeks hes brought back the Mourinho snore bore shit show considering we have lost 4 out of our last 5.

So Ole says we should be aiming for 15 points from our last 6 games and mentions beating Chelsea at home. Up until now he has said we should be aiming to win every game, I suppose with process of elimination, the game we won’t be trying to win is the City game. I’m happy with this ;)

4 losses from 5. Woodward never ceases to amaze at just how inept he is. Hope I’m wrong but I have feeling things are about to get a whole lot worse....

What would that be then?.
Until he wins two trophies and finishes 2nd or higher, he is not a upgrade on Mourinho.

He has got the job because of the new manager bounce and I'm not sure if he will be good enough against the likes of Pep, Klopp, Emery and Pochettino.

Hope this helps.

That's a useful response, thanks.

I think it was much more than a new manager bounce.

I think, that given the same time, he'll at least equal two trophies and second.

As a condition, I'd argue a proper tile challenge - like Liverpool and City for example - would equal two low category cups and an after-the-lord-mayor's-show runners up medal.

Plus, also.... Yeah, he needs to be given four hundred million too.

That's an even bet.

Mourinho will be proved right when this is all over. Mark my words.

indeed. Some are just diseased with inane hatred for him on here that they have ceased thinking straight

I'm not getting into another multi-quote nonsense of a piss take with you.

But the fact any United fan would still defend Mourinho is the very definition of inane. The man will twist anything to fit his agenda and throw anyone under the bus in the process. He is only polemic and generally toxic. Ironically, those I see defending him seem to do the exact same thing, present company not excluded.

He's been living off reputation and generally more interested in his ego than doing his job since Madrid. There's a reason no big club will go near him.

Some interesting quotes from Solskjaer on what expects from the squad going forward. From the sounds of things he's ready for a bit of a cull, hopefully they aren't just empty words.

Really like the sound of those quotes. Get the feeling he is not afraid of shipping out some of our higher earners.

He used the word ruthless.

It's not just about the squad being good enough. It's about fitting the culture of the club that he knew and that we as fans desperately want. That's not as straight forward as a player being 'good enough' since we've had so many standby players contribute in meaningful fashion over the years.

I really hope he's got the Midas touch. We need it.

Interesting reading the differences of opinion on the match are so divided.

We did a fair bit better than I expected. Still not good enough in terms of where we want to be, of course. But Rome wasn't built in a day...

I still believe it's too early to make a decision on whether Ole deserves to our permanent manager. He needs some time to prove himself. Hope he will end this season with the top 4 and sign some good players in the transfer market. We can't count on Pogba and Lukaku

If said panic button got Woodward out I'd hit it pretty darn fast, tbf.

Haha, sure. I’m talking about concern pertaining to our performances.

Mind you, do you trust anyone else to negotiate spectacular deals so we can get in on the tractor market?

The big challenge Ollie has is that we have so many players that need to be moved on, this could take quiet awhile.

If he could move on the following Damien, Mata, Valencia, Rojo, Luakaku, Herrera (looks like he's leaving - unfortunately) , Sanchez, Young, Jones, Matic, over the next 2 transfer windows and start to integrate some of youth players like Gardner, Gomez, Greenwood, Laird, O'Connor, Henderson, Tuanazebe. There are also big question mark over De Gea and Pogba - do they want to stay, both performances haven't being great over the last few weeks. As for signings - we need a world class CH, a experienced RB, at least 2 midfielders, a RW and another CF. all these signings will take some time to get and integrate into the team. Ollie deserves the opportunity to put his stamp on the team and helps us to rebuild.

Inappropriate meme image
Not impressed with the recent performances post honeymoon period. Looks a lot like Di Matteo and Ranieri more so than Zidane. United should have waited till the end of season to make a decision.

I love Ole I am sure we all do but I just feel he is massively out of his depth, we will waste another £200m and he will get sacked in 2 seasons.

I don't understand his team selections lately. I remember reading something from Ole about how he got it wrong at Cardiff and made too many changes. It feels like he's making the same mistakes again.

Maybe Ole will do a Scholes and decide it’s not worth the hassle. It doesn’t matter who our manager is. You get a honeymoon period and then you sit there and watch utter shit every week, win or lose, until you’re sacked.

Since he's been announced the performances has dropped, if he's not careful this bad form will transition into next season and he'll be gone within half of the season. The most worrying signs going forward is our home form, we look more comfortable in away games and even by that margin the team looks woeful.

The glazer's made a stupid decision in hiring him midway through his tenure. Should have assessed at the very end of the season with all things accounted for.

It's oles job to motivate the players, if they can't get up collectively he is also responsible. Most of our team looks disinterested.

Some worrying signs of late. Peformance have been rubbish,

All we can do is hope he improves us.

In my opinion - he may have the right ideas on what players to buy but may not be the manager to take us forward.

Ideally this is the type we want at DOF.

Subbing Lukaku when Martial and Lingard were playing like they were is incredibly dumb.

Should never have been appointed at the time he was. Wouldve been smart to wait till the end of the season and assess him alongside other possible available managers.

Hate to say it, if we had gotten a top manager who has already proven himself (like Pochettino) and we performed as bad we did today, I would most definitely blame the players. But with Ole being inexperienced I can't help but to wonder if it's on him.

Our last six performances have looked no different than under Jose. Apart from a few missed chances against Arsenal and Wolves it's some absolute trash football being played by us.

Today was as bad as the worst matches I watched when Jose was manager. Nothing has changed

I still can't believe he didn't bring Lingard off, how the F did he stay on. Sadly the same can be said for so many others.

The decision was already made mate, sorry to break it to you.

I like him and want him to succeed but I genuinely can't get my head around making him permanent before the end of the season.

We don't. We are just a one trick pony of counter attacking and so look slightly better away, but even the away games are awful.

A lot of it is on the players of course. Ole has improved some aspects of our game like passing, speed, counter attacking and even pressing, but none of it is implemented consistently or all together. Also, Ole's tactics and subs have done nothing to convince me he is able to make the step up to managing us, though I am not ruling him out as an eventual success either. Genuinely 50-50 regarding his abilities as a manager.

Ultimately, what makes any manager's life comfortable is a good summer and solid signings who can do the bare minimum of playing consistently well. So, what we do this summer is arguably more important than Ole's tactical acumen getting us through in games.

Massively disappointed by the fact he is blind to certain players' shit performances game after game.
I don't understand his team selections lately. I remember reading something from Ole about how he got it wrong at Cardiff and made too many changes. It feels like he's making the same mistakes again.

So which one is it? Is he making too many changes? Or is he not dropping the players he should be dropping?

We have had a ton of injuries lately, and none of our players are back to par. Give the manager a fecking brake and stop poisoning this club, especially when we're winning.

This thread

This isn’t bizarre that there’s now a return to shit performances. The team still lacks balance and there’s still a lack of quality in certain areas. Next season is when I’ll judge him.
