Ole will never bring back the fergie years but lets use him to stabilise. If players want to go they should go. Lets build from here. Today was the worst result but perhaps we can get out the deadwood and build with ole. He can stabilise us.

The guy almost everyone wants was allowed to get rid of the deadwood and mercenaries at Spurs when he took over them, and United 'fans' admire him for that yet they cant afford to give the same luxury to Ole when many people know there are many players in the sqaud that need to be got rid of, asap.

Our fanbase are bizarre sometimes...
It’s the fear of wasting even more money, and also wasting another season. If we would of waited until the end of the season like we should of done, there’s no way he would of got the job. Things a bleak.

Every manager we've appointed have been given a full season at the very least. Guardiola and Klopp did feck all in their first season.

This. How fecking hard is this to understand.

We have a problem in our club right from top to bottom. We also have supporters who dont support our club.

Shit situation, but we will rise again.

The Rashford and Lingard love-in needs to stop, or it will be a quick exit for Ole next season.

I think the start of the season will be a huge indication of where we are going under Ole. If he does not make a substantial go at gutting out the deadwood and putting his own stamp on things then we know we are going nowhere. Can anyone tell me what Ole’s philosophy actually is? Or if he even has one. He talks constantly about a major overhaul and survival of the fittest and then still plays Young Jones Smalling Lingard and Rashford week in week out.

There are plenty managers we could get that would do a better job, the Erik ten Hag the ajax manager, Nuno Santo, Conte, feck I would take almost anyproben manager before sticking with Ole.

Not Southgate?

What are the chances we stumble through until December next season while it's obvious he's not good enough, before getting rid and repeating the whole cycle again?

Extremely high.

I'm already expecting it.

I have zero expectations for next season unfortunately.

We're in a bit of a pickle. If Wolves and Leicester buy two quality players each, we'll be lucky to finish in the top 8. Do we give Ole a shed load of money to offload, buy and plan a 2-3 year rebuild, or do we panic, sack him and hope for the best? It took us years to replace Sir Matt, and we're making the same mistakes after Sir Alex. I don't think this constant looking back to the Fergie era is the right way forward. He was a one-off.

People keep mentioning this.

There's only De Gea and Valencia who played under Moyes.

It's not the same players.

We're on our worst run of form since the 60's or whatever it is.

If we need 11 world class players with Ole under the helm to beat Huddersfield and Cardiff, then it's hopeless even employing him.

Wasn’t jones Smalling young etc also there? I.e the most of the back 5? We don’t need 11 world class players we just need a back 5 that isn’t crap

Surely Ole's the Tim Sherwood in this analogy then?

What does it matter what we think? The board needs to back Ole unconditionally, I doubt they will though. They'll take the side of certain players instead of the man they appointed "to set things right".

Would you be saying this if Ole wasn’t Norwegian?

Hes not good enough for assistant. And yes I am serious.
 assistants are just there to learn and carry cones these days. What makes Arteta more qualified as an assistant than him? We keep him as an assistant so we can have a watertight succession plan.

I forgot about Smalling, Jones and Young.

Our back 5 isn't 'crap'.

After six months in charge, the very bare minimum I’d expect to see from any manager is some semblance of style of play. Every top manager has their own MO when it comes to the way that their team is set up.

But with Ole, I see nothing. It’s like this management team just chucks 11 players out onto the pitch and says go play. There is no structure or order about the way we play, it’s just chaotic.

We should be at a stage now where the system is there and we can see what Ole is trying to do. But there is nothing.

Pre season and 2-3 players is not going to suddenly sort our problems on the field out.

Ole will always be a legend for his playing days, but as a manager he looks fecking clueless.

Real Madrid would have sacked him by now.

We'll stick with him and likely experience another poor season. Pressure will mount and once top 4 becomes unattainable, Woodward will pull the plug or Ole will step down.

And we'd have lost yet another season.
I'm not really interested in what Real Madrid would do, they're not exactly the model for what a well run club looks like either.

We might well have a poor season next year but I don't think that necessarily changes even if we were to bring someone else in instead. Ripping up any plans we might have for next season doesn't do us any favours at this point.

We don’t need a succession plan. Let’s get the manager right first before worrying about whose going to take over after him. We did it with LVG and Giggs.

We need to get to the point where the club are borderline self-sufficient. Barca, Juve, Madrid and Bayern have their transitions from time to time but never drop out of champions league football. This is why we need to formulate an actual club strategy and style of play and Employ accordingly! If we did this after sacking mou (which we were told was going to happen) I don’t believe Ole would be the guy at the helm come summer. Once again, we haven’t learned from our mistakes.

Well you don't know, the same form could have continued and top 4 would have been achieved, it all dropped off, for whatever reason when he was confirmed.
When he took over as caretaker we were 10 points behind 4th, so at that stage achieving top 4 arguably would have been enough to get the job if the decision was to be made at the end of the season.

Amazing. We lose 2-0 at home to Cardiff who have been relegated and someone tries to spin it off as the stats weren’t that bad. fecking hell.
It wasn’t the worst performance in the world, but it’s the lack of control and not being convincing which was most disheartening.

I honestly do not understand some United fans these days whether right or wrong Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is now manager of Manchester United and if continue in this rut of sacking managers after a short time we will fall even deeper into a pit we will find harder to climb out of, unless fundamental changes are made from top to bottom then it doesn't matter who is manager, if your Van Gaals and Mourinho´s could turn it around why should someone else be able to.

I find one of the best ways to judge something about your own club, is to look at how your rivals view them. Look how we view Guardiola, Klopp and Pochettino for example. Compare that to our attitude towards Wenger by the end, we all wanted him to stay.

Here's what Liverpool fans think about Ole as our manager

"Please please don't sack him now. Next season could be on a par to the Moyes season for hilarity."

"I’m just worrying that they will soon realise that they’ve signed the Molde manager and they’ve got the quality that denotes. Give him a couple of years eh?"

"how the feck did he get the job permanently? It's nuts, they just don't learn!!"

"Probably the most short-sighted appointment ever."

"They'll always have Paris. #keepoleatthewheel"

"Glad the season ended when it did or he'd have got himself sacked"

"Surely they go after Poch now and sack this c*nt today"

"I hope they keep him on, they look certain for relegation next season under him."

"Hope they give the clueless c*nt 500 million. Clearly, he's a genius and just needs time and money."

"Appointed the Norwegian David Moyes, lost at home to Cardiff & still celebrating their cross town rivals winning the league."

They want us to keep him because they all know we will go nowhere with him in charge. What is wrong with some of you? This is like how we felt about Liverpool with Dalglish and Hodgson. You are accepting midtable mediocrity.

You should be banned for quoting Liverpool fans.

Pep was called a fraud in here and Klopp has not been a superstar all these years.

That is now understandable and I am sorry if I was a bit heavy on the criticism.
Been a desperately awful season ended with a shocking result.
Getting difficult to keep the faith.
No worries. I should have read it but was on way out so just typed and sent. Well at least this disasterous season is behind us. Surely we should move onwards and upwards is the only way.

They're literally the most successful team in the history of football.

I don't know why people repeat this.

We should follow their model more often.

Real Madrid the most successful club in Europe aren’t well run? Are we talking about the same club?

Barring De Gea it pretty much is mate.

I'm not going to say our back 4 is great or anything, but it's not crap.

That's just OTT.

And even if you think it is crap, Ole is the one who will likely not get rid of Young, Jones, and Smalling either way. He'll embrace them and play them next season too.

Surely Ole's the Tim Sherwood in this analogy then?

Definitely. Sherwood was the unproven caretaker with a false dawn that led to a premature contract.

Poch on the other hand had plenty of pedigree compared to Ole and Sherwood.

Back him emphatically, it takes more than one transfer window and half a season to solve our problems of a bloated, unbalanced squad as well as a lack of fitness (which contrary to popular belief you cannot put right simply within the space of 6 months).

We also suffer from a lack of real quality in both central midfield, defence and both full back positions as well as attack to a lesser extent.

There is mountain of work to be done this preseason and Ole will have to prove he has a ruthlessness to rival SAF's to get things right for next season as a minimum of 6 new players is needed, however its worth bearing in mind that based on his time here that if the season had started the day he took charge we would be currently 3rd in the table with a disjointed squad lacking in genuine quality.

Things are nowhere as bad manager wise as some think and if anything he has paid slightly for giving supporters too much hope with our early form under him.

Give him a pre season and a whole season (or at least the beginnings of one depending on results) and lets revisit this conversation then.
