I'm always going to want a manager who looks to dominate possession and plays more of the style Pep and Sarri gravitate to, but Ole seems sharp and adaptable, has made very few obvious mistakes and with an entirely new right side I think he could grow into being a very good manager, as Zidane did with a very strong team.

As a norwegian I'm delighted. We're a small country and we should all be proud to have a fellow norwegian in charge of the biggest club in the world. As a bayern supporter since the 90's I'm always gonna dislike him a tad cause of 99', but feck my feelings on a day like this. Well done Ole.

Deserved appointment, now we have to see, how he goes, hope there's accusations in summer, and ole can attract them here.
New it was coming, but thought the board might have waited till end of season. I think it's iether a coincidence that Zidane went back to Real, or he new Ole was having the job, I think he was in the running to get it.?

Let's just keep the momentum going now.

People on caf love to have unrealistic targets and then moan about it when it is not achieved.

Being Manchester United is an unrealistic target? Manchester United as we used to know it were favorites to win the PL in almost every season and could give the best teams in the world a run for their money in Europe. Manchester United as we know it actually looks like the best team in the world from time to time.
You might be in the crowd that believes MUFC won't be what it once was in the near future but I am not. We have the right manager and great players. We got ridiculous money and an incoming transfer window. We have a humongous fan base. There's nothing wrong in being optimistic and hoping more than being the third force in England and mediocre in Europe for the time being.

Ok. Quadruple next season it is then.
Because "We have the money" and throwing it in truck loads is going to make that happen. It is all about the money and history anyways.

Would have waited a bit longer, but hopefully he does well.

We need a huge summer.

Happy to hear he wants the hardest working and fittest squad. While so many of the transfer enthusiasts here want to get rid of our hard working players and replace them with more luxury players, it sounds like Ole wants more Anders not less of them.

Yeah hopefully we can press teams better in the future. We are not very good at it right now.

I just pay Ed and the Glazer's don't feck him. Talking needing 3 starters in before pre season at least with another to come in asap.

Even if they do, OGS will make the most of it, and won't be moaning in the press pre season about how pointless the tour is, and how it'll be a difficult season and completely blowing everyone's confidence.

All good with this. Ole more than deserved it based on results and hopefully he gets the backing deserved and needed.

What backup should he have? 3 year contract is not a problem at all and it's not a long one . 1 + 1 doesn't make sense, it's not that he signed for 6 years. Any manager is risky in the sense he might or he might not be in the same place in few years.

Well to run one of the biggest clubs in the world the common logic would be to have win something or proveed that you can implement an style at least, Ole has achieved none, he is a rookie as a manager and like I said it may go bad pretty fast. Of course I hope this cinderella story continues but you never know...

The reason no manager likes being on a one year deal is because it makes them a lame duck in the dressing room. That's why most contracts get extended a year before they expire.

Yes that's the down side of it but on the other hand most managers get sacked before their contracts expire...

Wow you won’t get off of it. We should bloody hope his plan is not to build a team of grafters who think the ball is a hot potato they need to get rid of with one touch.

Same as Zidane and Guardiola when they took over Real and Barca. Who knows, he may be their counterpart at United. One can dream. I don't think it is highly likely but let's see what happens.

That would be amazing but as you said highly unlikely. Lets wait at least Ole will target young players, no more Rebic, Perisic, Boateng rumors I hope...

He's not exactly a rookie. It may ti bad it may go great, who knows. We went for 2 proven, decorated managers, now we changed our tune.

So happy about this. Whatever happens I'll be with him until the end.

They can be roommates and Ole can listen to Ole at the wheel on repeat the whole night so Virg cant sleep.

Well who is more likely to fail? An established premier league manager who has done it at a couple of clubs on a shoestring (Comparatively), or a manager who hasn't yet done that once? That's the gamble?

The consequences of failing this time are greater imo, everything else has been tried. What next? Poch?
You're approaching the situation as if the last several months haven't happened. It's not a straight choice between Solskjaer and Pochettino, it's a choice between keeping a manager who's been a huge success over the past several moths, is incredibly popular with both players and fans, has brought long lost optimism back to Old Trafford and probably rehabilitated the club in the eyes of many a neutral observer, or replacing him with another manager that still has question marks about him as well. The second scenario is the bigger gamble in my opinion. Just imagine the absurd levels of pressure Pochettino would be under if we'd let Solskjaer go for him.

I don't follow the logic of that second part either. Why would the consequences of Solskjaer failing be greater than anyone else failing. How have we tried everything because we appointed Solskjaer instead of someone like Pochettino? I mean, all I get from posts like this is that, supposedly, Pochettino is the only manager in the world who'd be the right fit at the moment. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket. Would we even get him from Spurs? Would he even come here? What if he fails, after supposedly being the only possible manager for us?

Don't get me wrong, I would've welcomed Pochettino at the club under different circumstances. But we've got something great going on here right now, it'd be madness to break that up before letting it run its course and seeing where it takes us.

As excited as I am it's also great to see how proud he is making many Norwegians feel as well, it's looking good.
