This team needs a Carrick. Someone with some discipline in midfield. It would transform us from a group of superb individuals into a superb team. McTom could do this. Fred no chance. At the moment they are both all over the place chasing shadows most of the time.

Definitely felt like a loss. I think a poll is fair and desirable. This is Ole's most important season, we are heading into a tough run and it's been 2 years? since the last poll. It's a good time to gauge fan opinion on his reign and whether people think he should continue. If you don't want to do it after a poor result then open it after a random future match (Home vs Liverpool perhaps)
Like the last one it will just swing depending on whatever the latest result is. It proves nothing.

So what's the harm of a poll?

I'm not adverse to one at all, I just think it's pretty obvious which way it'll swing. Lots of the sensible Ole-in posters on here are being honest about our situation, and raising doubts. Of course, the handful of wummy 'in' posters, will continue to wum.

Of course it proves nothing. We're not conducting a scientific experiment. We want a poll on our manager on a forum of the club we support. If we can handle the Messi Ronaldo poll, I'm sure we'll survive and Ole in/out poll.

We're 7 games into the season.

So you tell me then, where is your optimism coming from? Do you really, honestly believe that we will be in a title fight with the way the team is playing?

This is after three years with an absolutely quality squad.

By all means, wait until we are out of the CL and battling for top 4 once again, but Ole has to be allowed to keep his job!

It is almost as though he is still managing the kids, that it is all about development and results don't matter. Get them ready for the first team.

Agreed. We should have 9 nailed on starters now every game. He’s always messing with the side.

We are. We had a very easy run in to the season and have dropped stupid points. You don't have a title race doing that.

With our upcoming fixtures we are very likely to be in a world of trouble

Of course the last two league games have been disappointing. But we have a good record against our rivals under Ole. I relish watching the big games and there's nothing to suggest we need to be fearful of the upcoming fixtures, it's a good thing for us really.

We've seen it before when we've hit some bad form and Ole's under pressure but each time before we've bounced back and gone on a run.

Did you guys watch the post-game interviews? Bruno looked absolutely gutted but Ole was smiling during his.

7 games is almost 20 % of our league season btw. Hardly an insignificant amount of games.

You can’t apply that logic. You can’t demand a win or a quota of goals based on who else did this or that. We should be playing better and winning more games, I’ll give you that. The point is, that only matters if the trend continues over a long period. We had this bitchin’ and moanin’ last season and we ended up second.

100% agree. What’s getting me most is Ole is coming across as clueless. His reactions are all out of sync, I’m not sure he actually believes he can do any better than this.

He really needs to consider the Mcfred love in - I actually thought Fred was okay today, but getting outmuscled twice by Gray ultimately cost us a goal.

He's done a good job up to this point in my view but its time to move on. Replace him now and he'll keep his dignity and most will see his time in a positive light. I expect we'll drag it out for months and months to really make it hard to appreciate the good parts and people will be absolutely beggging for him to be sacked by the time our board do anything. We'll probably replace him with someone who wants to replace the vast majority of our squad and play a completely and utterly different brand of football to really flush his time and work down the toilet.
A sensible board would be looking for a new manager today and when a couple more bad results come along they'll be ready to replace him.

Two limited (supposedly defensive) midfielders against a low block yet again. How many times does he need to see it not work.

That’s not the United way.
What Ole and the higher ups conveniently forget is that the United Way involves winning. We haven't done a lot of winning recently so we are far far far away from the "United Way"

Meh, he was out of his depth from the start. Just that people realise with better players come higher expectations. He could hide behind 'our squad is not good enough' or 'look at our bench'. Now that the excuses are drying up, he is suddenly not good enough. He never was. Chelsea would have sacked him years ago. We appoint the wrong managers and give them too much time. That is if we want to win titles. If we only want to float around, that is another matter.
This.

The selective amnesia with OgS & certain ‘untouchables’ is rife in here. Losing/drawing at home to inferior opposition whilst having a rather sizeable advantage in terms of resources & squad quality aren’t new under OgS. We were vastly underperforming before he arrived, but people act as if he took us from the Championship to consistent Top 4 finishes. Given he’s been here for a period of time, his impact has been at a snails pace.

Agreed, he’s never been good enough.

Look, the last two games have been disappointing but Ole has a good record in the league against the big clubs and I think the hard run of games coming up will galvanise the players and we'll come out of it looking good.

He doesn’t really though. When he first came in we had some great results playing on the counter but last year the form against the ‘Top 6’ was better than only Spurs. The results against the better teams have plateaued yet people are using results from 2 seasons ago to defend him. The old McFred backs to wall with Rashford or Martial doing something on the counter wasn’t effective last season & it won’t be this.

And if we are once again out of the CL and 6-9 points off the top? Out of the League Cup, scraping a win at home after being embarrassed by Young Boys, followed up by 1 point from two home games against vastly inferior 11’s. It all points to a coach who isn’t getting the best out of his resources.

It’s not good enough, the performances aren’t good enough and we have failed time and time again because there is not, and will never be, any consistency playing the way we do.

There will always be a Villarreal, Leicester, Istanbul, Young Boys, Leicester, Villa etc, just around the corner. There is a massive binder of evidence and we don’t even need it! You just have to watch the games. We won’t win anything with Ole in charge.

So the question needs to be asked, why is he still here?

You might be right. I just remember feeling like we were utterly broken, dysfunctional mess that in the best case scenario would take years to rebuild after Mourinho. But i guess things always look worse than they are when Mourinho gets moved on. I think the team has been rebuilt, I like and rate the players we've put together and i think that progress was the more attractive part of his management than his week to week results which have been inconsistent. The results were usually just good enough to keep things going rather than a positive of his time, just no more progress or team building left to offset them now so its hard to find a compelling reason to stick with him anymore.

There are two top managers available plus many others that have made for name for themselves with "lesser" teams who now have good pattern of play and clear Identity. But knowing this club we will wait and do nothing until too late and get some former legend to steady the ship and end up giving him 3 year contract. Rinse and fecking repeat.
