It was a bad performance obviously but if you can't enjoy a 95th minute winner then you might as well give up on football.

I have a feeling you're right. Still, I can't bring myself to be an Ole out guy. I'll probably be rooting for him all the way till the ship has sunk.

I think we should replace him but still root for him if that makes sense.

As long as a manager is here I want them to win regardless of if I think they are good enough which for Ole Im fairly certain he isn't

Realistically he will have to be replaced eventually to compete with the top teams who have the best managers.

We battled to the end and got our rewards, can’t fault the spirit we showed at the end.

However, we were poor and lucky to still be in the game at all. We’ve regressed somewhat this season, despite the obvious improvements to the squad. This team is too good to be scrapping and battling our way through, but that’s what we’ve been doing more often than not. We got the result but alarm bells are still ringing.

The lack of midfield is a massive problem and it’s bringing back memories from previous seasons. As soon as we deviate away from McFred and try something more adventurous in the middle, we look unbalanced and exposed. The flip side is we compromise on creativity by playing them. We’ve been here several times before and still haven’t found a solution.

Regardless of his tactics/coaching whatever I have to say I find his dealing with the DVB situation bordering on negligent

Donny had many offers this summer, why in the hell did he block a sale, the money of which could have been used to fund a midfielder that he actually planned to use, he doesn't even throw him into this match with 5 subs, it's obvious he doesn't want him, and we've basically ruined this mans career at this point. True he may not be a world beater but for christ sakes give him a chance, especially when he has to sit there and watch players turn out dross every week and get rewarded with more playing time, it boggles my mind i swear.

I mean, 3/4 defenders were back-ups. Dalot was struggling all night, and doing little going forward. Obviously Telles acquitted himself better.

That said, we were carved open too easily at times. People have been waiting for us to 4-3-3, well that’s what we saw in the second half when things picked up. Kinda crazy to see Ronnie go left, Cavani in the middle, and Greenwood on the right. I was a bit disappointed he didn’t get Lingard on earlier, as two incredible mature strikers with good movement could easily benefit with him between them in the hole. Ultimately Jesse proved vital, in so few minutes as well! A bit harder to laugh at the notion that he might have a solid part to play in a good season.

We will definitely have to build on this and regain some control, though. Can’t say I feel confident in our trajectory right now, but hopefully we’ve just seen some teething issues with our forward line. Imagine Ronnie if we get our shit properly together

Clueless and diabolical performance.
Anybody who thinks he is good enough at this point need to wake up.
The guy is out of his depth.

Ole is a legend and I love him to bits but we won't win anything with him in charge. He has had three years and the financial backing to implement his philosophy and still, time after time, we get played out of the park by lesser teams. I simply don't understand how he has been unable to coach the players to press as a team by now. This is something that many youth teams do flawlessly and still our pressing consists of players individually pressing and being played around.

We all enjoyed it. A last minute winner from Ronaldo, under the floodlights at Old Trafford, in front a packed stadium in Europe for the first time in over a year, in the rain. Epic.

You can still call a spade a spade, though. If we want to win anything Ole needs replacing ASAP.

Yes. You've summed up my feelings on him. Also, I have absolutely no idea who would come in and be able to do the job. These are Ole's players. Who's to say they won't react badly to him getting the sack?

What I'll take away from this game is:

  • The players are still playing for Ole. Once again we went behind, once again there was a reaction.
  • His subs, while you sometimes have to wait for them, continue to be good all things considered. Matic and Lingard again made an instant impact.
  • His team's performances vary so much before scoring a goal and after. That's a mentality issue that, as a coach, he has to get into their heads and solve.
  • He is right not to play 4-3-3.

Could the haters in here please take their patterns of play and gegenpress it up their Tuchel?

Respect to the players. I thought they’d finally had enough tonight but they bailed him out for the umpteenth time.

Massive 3 points tonight, a point would have put us in a really tricky position going into last four.

Tonight was the worst we have played this season though, performances and our quality of football is a major concern. Southampton, Wolves, Young Boys, West Ham, Villa and now Villareal.

This post sums it up. One can celebrate a last min winner and still throw a caution to our performance not being up to the mark.

That was fecking shite, but he got his subs and tactical change 100% spot on though. Cavani and Lindgard especailly were imprortant.

That being said, the way we played for most of the match was fecking unnaceptable.

Don't you feel, our performance have been poor to average most of the season? We look disjointed and out of ideas so often. I have mentioned 6 matches above, don't you think it's a major cause of concern considering we have added Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane into the mix?

Why is he right to not play 4-3-3?

The two aren’t mutually exclusive. I probably enjoyed that goal more than I did any we’ve scored this season thus far, but at the same time it doesn’t change the fact that the performances are going in the wrong direction and overall I don’t think we’re going to win anything with Ole.

Needs to get the energy going from 1st minute. Too many games since his reign have we been so passive from the start that we put ourselves on the back foot and end up chasing. He needs to get this team fighting from the go and dominate through the start.

Got too good a squad to be easy on them.

To be fair to Ole, every time Donny has played he has been crap.

Yeah so has Fred, McTominay and Matic, what the hell is DVB supposed to prove when he gets 5 minutes every now and again, how can you genuinely prove anything with no game time under your belt. And if its the case as you say, again, why not sell him? We had offers.

Ive been doing this for two years, it's frustrating

De Gea has rediscovered his amazing shot saving ability just to save Ole from a couple of hidings.

This is not sustainable or conducive to success.

Ole needs a top notch assistant. He really shouldn't be stubborn about that. Improve the back room staff with the very best we can get. Managers will never 100% know how to do everything. He needs to reinforce the areas where he's not the strongest imho.

Because opponents run through us like a dodgy curry through yer belly. The double pivot gives us a more secure platform.
As if they don't run through us when playing double pivot... Pretty much everyone runs through us.

Why is he right to not play 4-3-3?
The idea of playing 4-3-3 is all to get Pogba and Bruno in the team together. But we clearly don't have a decent number 6 and both are poor in ball retention and defensively. It doesn't work and never will with what we have.

He played 4-3-3 with a shit and unbalanced pairing. Has nothing to do with our ability to utilize this formation.

I enjoyed the win but not the performance. Again individual brilliance bailed us out. He is not going to win us anything. Any decent team would have scored all those chances. DeGea saved us the game. Once again.
