True, but i think the problem of not being able to move on players goes well beyond Ole.

The accumulation of, and inability to clear unwanted players has long preceded him and will probably keep being a problem once they leave as well. Besides the complete firesale we had under LvG, the club seems very reluctant to part with their "assets" unless they get a kings ransom for them.

Just look at Jones, whom we had on our books for about a decade now, while its clear that hes not an important part of any of the managers plans. Wy havent we been able to sell him?
I do understand what you are saying but I feel the ones I mentioned we Could have sold. They were wanted by other clubs.

Are you suggesting someone like him would leave Bayern for us? Managers don’t generally want to jump ship when they’re in the middle of a project, we’re best off waiting until the end of the season when managers have been sacked and we can assess our options properly.
Very few managers would reject the Man Utd role if they're not already at a top job.

Yeah but we need to sit down and think about the way we want the team to play and hire a manager who will do that instead of just picking big names.
When Klopp joined Liverpool his way of playing was noticeable very quick he just lacked the players. We need to do the same in future

This has been the biggest screw-up the board has made. They have failed to chose a playing style / formation. They sign all these amazing players that suit different styles and formations. The whole club feels so disjointed and unorganised. I don't blame Ole but I also don't think he is anything more than an average manager. I happily root for him for nostalgic reasons. The club need to really focus on the football side but it seems they are only interested in the commercial side.

Just seen what Matic is saying re Ole and our season. Honestly is he taking the piss here do we think?

Embarrassing quotes from Matic. "Every day he's improving"...as though the players are actually the ones assessing Ole and seeing what he needs to improve on. Why don't they manage themselves instead.

Why is he improving Nemanja?

"Now he knows all his players".

Oh, ok then. Has he never watched football before? Not already coached here for a couple of years? Signed half of the team himself?

Well done, we're in good hands.

Excellent.
I remember reading that quote a season or two seasons ago. It is an old quote and we were very much fighting for champions league qualification when Matic said that, please stop passing it on as recent bit of info.

What the hell do people expect him to say? After 3 years it’s pretty evident he is protecting the players he has at his disposal. He said the same about Sanchez, one week later he was sold. Young. Lukaku. Pereira.. Come on! Vise up!

Protecting players from what? And why ?
Why would he be protecting?

More like he's accepted what they are and he loves it which is worrying.

He's out of his depth.

This is it LVG was a disaster but he play possession football so the thing to do was hire another manager who played possession football but hopefully more attacking but no we hire Jose he has to sign players for his rigid style .
All successful clubs in the last few years either hire a manager that has a style and they buy into it like City and Liverpool or else continuesly sack managers like Real, Chelsea or PSG.
We don’t sack til top 4 is gone and we don’t have a set way too play

And who’s not at the top that we should be looking at, who is also a huge improvement on what we’ve currently got? Remembering that any manager that has never managed an elite team is going to take 6 to 12 months to bed in.

When it comes to selling players i think the managers involvment is fairly limited really. He can give the board a signal whether or not a player is part of his plans or not

I dont disagree though, we could and should have offloaded one or more of those players that you mentioned

Winning a cup competition even the UCL is no where near comparable with building the sides Pep has done at Barca, then Bayern and now at City. The fact Mourinho won the UCL with the sides he did is clear proof of that (Di Matteo as well)

Pep didn't build the Bayern side, what are you one about? He inherited a treble winning squad and made it perform even more consistent in the league and clearly worse in the CL knockout rounds.

Let's all get behind Ole and Utd and push them over the line. Yes Ole is hopeless but a team is more than that. Utd can be pushed to success by using a collective will. I actually believe that and there is enough talent in the squad to do it. Just support the team and forget about the manager.

I am a Rangers supporter. I started to follow Utd because of Sir Alex. He had a will of iron. The man would not bend or break. Ole is a bit of a fanny but he is trying to channel the will of Ferguson into this team. Ole has done well up to this point. He probably won't make it but he has done his part.

I usually put much of the blame on the Glazers but Ole has been backed more than any manager post Sir Alex so it's impossible for me to blame the Glazers this time. Ole needs to show he is capable of winning something or he has to go as simple as that.

You don't need a top manager to get a huge improvement over Ole. I'll even take Rodgers over him, considering what he has done on a much lower budget than what Ole has with us.

Why hasn’t Ole bitched about our only two defensive midfielders and slated their confidence? I really don’t get it.
Or maybe Ole thinks McFred is the way forward which is why we haven't looked at alternatives. Don't know what's worse from the 2 scenarios.

Leicester have a transfer strategy that allows them to find these players that fit their system. We just ask the manager who he wants and buy said player. Leicester will continue to do that after Rodgers and you'll be saying the same thing about the next manager

In that case why did we buy DVB?

You don't actually believe this, do you?

I'm just not a fan of listening to him in general. I don't mean for that to be misconstrued as any big deal, because it isn't. However, I've always found him to be very awkward, and he can come across a tad bit strange in interviews. Maybe it's a cultural thing or whatever, but I profess that I don't always 'get him'.

There are times that he doesn't do himself any favours by what he says, but again, it could just be a cultural thing and it comes across as he's saying something different.
I really agree with this and have always felt like that about listening to him. I remember RVP made a comment about finding it unusual that Ole smiles after defeats and in response Ole made some super strange comment about 'he took my shirt number and that's all I'm letting him take'. Was just bizarre and made him look kind of dumb tbh.

I also find his interview responses to be somewhat bizarre at times as well. I think even Talksport brought it up once when they played a voice clip of him speaking about something and Durham didn’t understand what he was saying and nor did I, and I said “eh?” in the exact same tone and exact same time as Durham said it.

Club have to be proactive. We aren't heading anywhere. That much is clear.

Good subs - still another altogether muddled and poor performance.

Magical second half. This is a manager who can inspire and give a good half-time talk.

Tell me they don’t play for him.

Good subs tonight. Something to build on now and improve that overall performance level.

Prolongs the inevitable, but that performance should send alarm bells ringing. Play like that against a decent side and we'll get battered.

 come on man even I don’t believe that. The crowd were immense tonight.

Good result but the performance was poor. Need to improve.

Another disaster of a performance, though we got away with it.. how we manage to look that incompetent with those players really is something.

The only chance we win anything this season is if Ole goes. He did well enough in his first 2 seasons but it's important to know when to move on - and it's not when your season is in the mud. Do it when we can still salvage something. Because he's gotta go.

No problems. Bad first half. Good second half. Win. Good subs even if they should have come earlier.

This guy is such an awful coach. Thank feck for our quality up front and De Gea, saved our arses today.

My biggest problem is he's absolutely clueless in how to use Ronaldo. Ronaldo barely even get chances for us, the whole team seems to be focused on doing shit crosses instead of trying to create proper chances for Chris, beside at several points Ronaldo was way too far away from the goal it's ridiculous.

The team isn't balanced at all. Tactically on the pitch we look disjointed and awful, and it all steams from the fact that our manager has brought in Ronaldo without having a clue about how to integrate him into the team.

If there’s any ambition at the club, Ole will be sacked sooner rather than later. The result is great, the performance once again very poor & we were lucky to win. If teams could finish their chances, we’d be in serious trouble.

They won't. We are stuck in the worst possible position for Ole. He's not good enough but the squad is in a position where purely down to the quality of the squad, will get him to a position the board deem acceptable
