The club has decided he's the right man and we're not going to be making a kneejerk change because he couldn't finish 4th after starting 12 points off. He's not going anywhere so its a good idea to get behind him.
Doesn't mean we should put rose tinted glasses on and pretend it's fine. It's not fine. We got a clueless manager, mediocre squad and we will inevitably waste another £100m or so during the summer and then Ole will eventually get sacked next season.

We lost to them under Mourinho as well, which tells you all you need to know about this squad. Ole needs to clean house in the summer.
You can't seriously compare the Huddersfield of two seasons ago to the team which it is now.
Can Ole be blamed for anything? He can't train or motivate the team enough to beat the worst side in the league and yet we should trust him with 100s of millions of pounds.

Why are people blaming Ole for this shambles when the same set of players performed equally as bad (or worse) under Mourinho?

LVG and Jose are solely accountable for the state of this squad. They identified and signed off on these players.

You would have to be completely out of your mind to hold Ole responsible in any way shape or form.

Lunacy.

We’re 9 points further away from the top of league since he took over.

Looks like rabbit in the headlights, never going to inspire this team. He’ll have us as relegation fodder next season.

Fecking joke of an appointment.

We are also six points above anyone else since he took over, get your fecking head out of your ass.

He's so fortunate. He's a club legend who knows all the right soundbites to give and he's inherited such a terrible squad that the players will take the majority of the blame but really he isn't good enough for where you want to be at either. Even when you were winning and he was a genius the signs were there. The Spurs game, for example, all second half they destroyed you and DDG saved it from being a cricket score. He sat there the whole time, watched it happen and didn't change anything.

Yup. This is going to be Moyes phase 2 but even worse.

I understand the players are not good enough or fit enough, but there's no pattern to our play. Players just do whatever they want. The free kick in the first half sums it up, miles away from the goal and we have 5 players trying to the take ball only for Rashford to smash a pointless shot. What happens in training?

I've lost faith in him to be honest. I hope he turns it around, I really do, but surely this can't all be down to the players.

It has been like this since SAF left. Its pathetic to blame every manager we had since SAF. The culture need to change. We need to get rid of a lot of players imo.

2 wins in our last 11. 2 draws and 7 losses.

Relegation form.

This isn't Cardiff, Ole.

This task is too big for him. Woodward needs to sack him and see if we can get Erik Ten Hag If Pochettino is not available. I have made my assessment, of Ole and if he stays and proves me wrong, I will love it. However, I can’t see it. He has no footballing philosophy or gameplan. I fear he might even be worse than Moyes. The only advantage Ole has is that we will not be able to attract top players and we will be in Europa League. He can start fresh without no huge expectation next season, our standard has drop that low. Top four seems like a trophy now for us.

Looking at your posts so far in this thread, it comes across that no matter how bad Ole performs with the team you'll seem unwilling to give him any share of the blame.

At what point do we accept the players are shite but also that Solskjaer is a problem too?
How about when he's had an actual summer to make some changes he wants to make? I don't think people realise just how fecking difficult it is to make any meaningful change when you're thrown into a situation like he was back in November. IF we've made some major recruitment in the summer and we're playing like this closer to Christmas then we need to start asking serious questions but if we haven't appointed a DOF it's pointless sacking him anyway, we'll just be back at square one again with a new manager who doesn't fancy any of the players he has.

Not sure what Ole is supposed to do with the utter sacks of shit playing for him.

Probably not the right appointment anyway, though.

I simply don't buy that this has anything to do with a lack of confidence, at least for most of them. If anything it's too much confidence. A belief that they're way better than they actually are. The amount of them jogging around the pitch and not even putting any effort in today has been absolutely disgraceful. You can say that it's Solskjaer's job to motivate them and talk about his lack of experience, but Jose Mourinho, one of the most decorated and experienced managers on the planet, couldn't motivate these players either. So who could? And at what point does there need to be an acceptance that they're the ones with a problem if they can't motivate themselves to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Mourinho won trophies and finished second with the side. His third season was the same as almost every club he's been at, he started warring with players and the hierarchy and ended up getting sacked. Look at his last season with Chelsea, he took the champions to near the relegation zone. I don't see him as a barometer here.

Ole looked like he had given up today. He was sat on the bench with a little smile on his face when he should have been in the technical area making adjustments and motivating the players. We needed one goal against a truly wretched side to stay in the hunt for a CL place. That was totally unacceptable.

My guess is that after the Mourinho out bounce and a few defeats players like Pogba have looked at Ole and what's going on behind the scenes and decided that we're going nowhere fast under this regime and want out. A feeling of hopelessness has grown through the squad and it is reflected in the performances we see on the pitch. We are entering a second Moyesian era if we keep hold of Ole in my opinion. Bring a proven manager in and we can attract the level of player that we need this summer.

We work on finishing to get back the feel good factor

Should never have made him permanent before the end of season, send him packing.

Once again, he was hired because he looked like an immediate fix to our mess. Great run of form, players putting in big performances. Stars aligned, resulting in a pre-mature hiring. Board and fans alike thought there was no need of a major rebuild, few signings and we'll be okay. But obviously, that doesn't look like the case right now.

The question is, why would you trust a rookie like Ole for a long-term fix? Especially when we no semblance of footballing organisation at the club? It's heading towards an unmitigated disaster and most people deep down know it.

The real question is why did the board not wait till the end of the season before hiring him? There was 0 pressure to hire him as he was an interim boss and 0 competition.

Since SAF the only sensible appointment has been Mourinho and that was done way too late. He should have been in immediately and then the likes of Diego Costa, Fabregas and Willian would have ended up at Old Trafford together with a couple of league titles. Moyes was a gamble, Van Gaal was a joke, you got a broken down Mourinho and then finished off with rookie Ole. Awful appointments simple as.

I'd give him a couple of windows. Definitely deserves a summer based on his work when he initially came to the club.

We keep sacking managers but keep renewing the contracts of the same old shit mediocre players we have. What's the fecking point?

Ole be blamed for anything? He can't train or motivate the team enough to beat the worst side in the league and yet we should trust him with 100s of millions of pounds.

The same can be said of Mourinho and LvG - two managers who have won leagues in virtually every European league, CLs, trebles etc. Ole took over a deeply flawed group of players and is going to have to work on removing the dead wood this summer.

Players & manager both aren’t good enough.

Hope the board has the guts to get rid of a lot of players & look for a new manager too otherwise this is Moyes all over again & more time lost

I've lost faith in him to be honest. I hope he turns it around, I really do, but surely this can't all be down to the players.

Agreed. I think he looks out of his depth now and has no idea how to change things when we're playing poorly. Done fantastically well to even get us close to top four but you can't excuse results over the past two months as solely down to the players.

I think we need to bring in 3 young signings that Ole can develop. Rice, Sancho and Joachim Anderson.

Then Ole needs a year to develop the new signings along with Fred, Martial, Dalot etc. And then when we don't get top 4 in a year, then at least we'll have a balanced young squad ready for bigger things, and perhaps a bigger name manager like Pochettino will be attracted to the project, to take to the next level.

This is it. Why the feck didnt we just wait. Its not as if we've sorted any player contracts out since March. There was literally no reason to make this decision.

We didn't want to wait because once again it was an easy/cheaper option. Fans were riding the wave and wanted him in the hot seat, the clueless Ed duly obliged. Mainly to absolve himself of doing the difficult task of actually searching for the right man for the job.

Maybe they're both crap?

One, two or five transfer windows will change nothing. He is not good enough and it is not working with him. We should offer him chance to resign and go with A plan. Searching for right manager.

People will continue to blame the manager over a bunch of over-payed, overrated players.
They deserved credit for going on the run they did, they now deserve to be replaced.
For what its worth, pretty much every manager would've had a bad run with this side, Poch included as much as I do like him.

I don't think the excuse that we got bad players is good. Since well any manager would do better with good players. It is clear that our squad is underperforming and not doing well as a unit.

Also not sure he will be able to attract the top quality players we need.

Why though? His job right now is to motivate the team and he isn't doing it. We're not brilliant but we're not drawing 1-1 to an already relegated team bad. It's crazy to me that people aren't willing to admit the obvious flaws in his management capabilities.

Because we need to stay positive for now. I see the flaws but he’s going to be our manager next season, the chance of us switching manager this summer window before the season even started is almost 0.

We had the perfect scenario where we could have decided his fate in the summer. But as usual the directors, including the legends, rushed it and now we're stuck with a dud for a manager.

The football has been crap since pogba is moved to left side of midfield 3.

Crucial months ahead for Ole, could make or break his managerial career, I am hoping he has targets lined up and doesn't hold back when it comes to cutting out the deadwood.

If he screws this up, he won't last until the end of the season.

It has been like this since SAF left. Its pathetic to blame every manager we had since SAF. The culture need to change. We need to get rid of a lot of players imo.

Doesn't mean the managers are good enough though. Moyes was a disaster, LVG past it and Jose, well was Jose. Ole atm doesn't look like the right fit, despite the team needs a rebuild

Amazing man, a club legend.

Not up to the standard required to re-build Manchester United.

Go out and try to get the one of the worlds best managers.
