Really wanted him to bolster the midfield right at 2-1 when we lost some momentum, but once Bruno's goal went in it was over.

Don't understand subs after the 85th minute, but that seems to be Ole's specialty. Matic and Pogba were totally gassed at 70.

This thread is quiet.

Ole is a lucky manager. Not only does he have the individual talents to bail him out if we are playing shite which I will not be surprised we will see more of this season, but now events that you Would not believe is happening to aid his fortune such as Wilson being out today and now, for our next game west ham best player in Antonio is suspended. I will have to take ole to Las Vegas with me.

If you watched the first half, can you say we played good football?

He’s built an incredible squad, stacked with quality… if we look past the midfield two. He’s done a really good job so far, pressure is on to deliver now though.

Always better to be lucky than merely good.

It's obvious the players like and respect him but it's time to start pushing the envelope now no excuses. We need to be one a machine of we're to challenge City.

Wasn't expecting such delicious salty, salty tears when I opened this thread.

Thanks Mrs P.

Imagine making this post. No real man utd would make such a post.

Glory glory man utd, and the reds keep marching on! Go back to Leeds!

I really liked the Lingard for Sancho sub. Shows everyone that no one is guaranteed a spot and everyone has a chance to play in the team. Sends the right message for both Sancho and Lingard, and to everyone else.

You seem to be devastated.

We still don't have a plan against teams that play a low block. How is it after 3 seasons, we still don't have a clear style of play?
The plan looked like moving from left to right to move the defence around and create spaces. This works over a 90 minute game as it tires the opposition

We got lucky with the first goal but we played well.

It is obvious that he is the weakest point in this huge squad. I hope the quality of the players cover the deficiencies he has as a manager.

Aaah I see what you’re doing. In the event we do start winning trophies we can say it is in spite of Ole. Clever goal post moving. Fair play.

Oh as long as those notoriously rational Match-Day posters agree with you, you must be onto something.
Beat me to it, they were still complaining after we’d scored four. I can’t imagine what it must be like to not be able to enjoy a match like today.

Good performance today, I liked the positive approach and line-up. Say what you want about Ole but that first 11 is the best we have seen post Fergie, he must be doing something right.

Overall, Newcastle created the better chances which, when you consider we had Ronaldo, Pogba, Bruno, Sancho, Greenwood, was surprising.

Can't be too harsh, though, as we're always going to concede a boatload of chances when Pogba and Matic are our midfield two. If we're sticking with 4-2-3-1, Fred and McTominay need to come into the side ASAP. We're too easy to play through otherwise.

Problem is when it gets to each side there are no options. I don't know why we don't create overloads on the wings as it's not like we have a Marcelo who can dominate his wing alone. Everyone just stands centrally for the most part.

 Imagine coming onto the United forum to complain after we just won 4-1, Ronaldo scoring twice, top of the table on 10 points. That's 9 goals in two games at Old Trafford. Not fecking bad.

We played good football. Dominated Newcastle from the off and constantly probed at them, was only a matter of when we'd score not if.
That was Newcastle gameplan. To sit back and give us possession while they counter. It was until the second half when they tired abit, that we were able to break down their defense. Newcastle had mutiples chances on the counter that with better quality players they would have scored more. Rewatch the first half and see how we couldn’t break down their defense and how many counter chances Newcastle had, if Wilson was there instead of joelinton, Newcastle would have scored more. Can’t believe you dont see that, yet in the match day thread, our fans voice that exact sentiment through frustration.

it is hard to get through to some red tinted specs fan, when faced with reality. I share your same opinon, but true let overlook the negative of today because we had a good result. Ronaldo did what he was bought to do. So good day overall.

Tiring a deep defence by shifting and moving the ball left to right is a legitimate and tried and tested approach. Hardly a ‘lucky’ approach.

Also it demonstrates that ole (which I believe he has mentioned) has us setup to finish games strongly.

I mean, that's just clearly not true. They had a 0.63 xG whereas ours was 2.58.

just fecking admit you were wrong! You’ve had literally the worst 24 months I’ve ever seen on this forum. NO-ONE will think less of you if a random lad on the football forum gets things wrong. Why are you doubling down on being consistently miserable.

So did I. I thought Sancho did well today too but as you said, no one is guaranteed to play and you will always get a chance if you’ve done well previously and in training.

I just hope Ole rotates and utilises this squad well. Barring a world class number 6, he’s got a squad any manager would love to have at their disposal. Don’t want him to just constantly stick with the same players and risks burnout when it gets to the run-in.

He signed most of the talents that "bail him out".
