I mean I could talk a lot about this game. But, I want to think that the team seems lacking energy because we are not at the required fitness level yet to start the season.

We should and will get better after the break.

Yeah part of that is winning games when you're not playing well. I grew up watching us play shit against the likes of Reading, Hull, Everton, etc and scrape late 1-0 wins and that be hailed as a sign of champions. If all we were winning was like this then yeah I'd be worried. But we do have our fair share of games where we blow teams away. So when we don't play well and win - that is something to be celebrated not denigrated.
 
That was fecking pathetic coaching from him. We got lucky, let's be honest.

That was such a discouraging amount of self awareness about what we had on the pitch vs what we needed, lack of understanding about what a balanced team or midfield is, and each sub just being "throw on more attackers, they'll figure it out". I've defended Ole loads but that was literally play as many attackers as physically possible and hope the vibes work out, with no team play at all.

We got away with one, but hopefully it's still a reality check for Ole.

Or Mancini? I am done with Ole. The signs are just not there. Not buying a CDM is hard to comprehend. He is dependent on individual brilliance. Today it was Greenwood and de gea.

Genuine question for you, do you not think we improved after the subs and the fact we scored late on make you think that it might have worked?
 
I feel Ole has a big decision to make. Do we continue with the double-pivot or do we try and find a way of working Fernandes and Pogba into the team in central areas?

Personally, I don't think we can play an AM like Fernandes plus a "drifter" like Pogba, in central areas with just one "traditional" CM.

Sure, there ARE undoubtedly CMs who could play the role far better than Fred, but it still doesn't change the fact that many teams will set-up to counter us and they will have overloads time and time again if we only go with the one true midfielder.

The obvious issue then is, who do we leave out every week?

This is what I think.

Ole during his time here has his teams always go on a bad couple of matches before starting to get in to a rhythm. Even if it doesn't start in a season- it happens within the season, the team loses some of its form and then gets it back and goes on a spree.

I agree. We have some of the best players in the World in their positions and our players still look so disjointed, the pressing is unorganised, movement off the ball to create passing lanes is non-existent, players taking too long and too many touches on the ball due to lack of movement etc. These are all issues that lay at his feet. This isn't a bloke that just rocked up, he's been here for considerable time now. It's simply not good enough that shite teams are far quicker and penetrative on the ball than us, that press better than us.

You're having a laugh if you think Ole managing Wolves today are looking half as good as they did.
 
Don't know what he sees in Daniel James and why he starts him but it's infuriating. I hope we don't waste years of this squad for the sake of sentimentality because there's some serious quality in the team right now. It'd be beyond stupid to wait him learn his trade. This is his 4th season. How many seasons before we demand something?

Win something significant while playing good football or get out.

I am following my team, I don't watch all games others. And what I am seeing is a very good squad that should be doing better. It's nearly 3 years now and can any of Ole supporters seriously say that we are playing better than we were when he took over? We have a much better and healthier squad thanks to Ole of course and I said multiple times here that I generally like his work on improving the squad, atmosphere around the club etc. It's a much happier place now than what we had with Jose. Unfortunately he just doesn't have what it takes to be a top manager and our coaching staff around him doesn't help either. I don't get why some Ole supporters get so defensive when people question our coaching staff's qualities.

Great. Maybe in two weeks Newcastle will put the same chances away that Wolves did. Maybe they won't. Maybe we'll turn up for the first half. Maybe we won't. This has been a recurring theme for the entirety of his tenure. If there's enough quality in the squad you get a nice little top 4 challenge playing that game, but you won't win the best league in the world.

you said well coached teams don’t go from bad to good in consecutive games.

so, based on that, which team hasn’t been bad this year so I know who is a well coached team?

When Ole took over - did you expect him to challenge the league in two years against City and Liverpool?

Yeah @Wumminator , how dare you get defensive when Ole is called worse than Arteta, a Manager that currently has Arsenal bottom, after suffering his 21st league defeat. Why do people get so defensive when utterly insane statements are made in a thread. Jeez!
 
I hope this comment looks ridiculous down the line but he should have brought in a quality centre midfielder this summer over buying Sancho. Especially so given the Ronaldo deal.

that is not what he said at all is it. He’s just saying teams have these performances. At this point of the season. And actually we can be happy with a point there as it means we’ve had a strongish start to the season.
 
You have to give credit where it's due, Ole has brought back the never say die attitude that made us so successful under SAF. I never feel we are out of a game and I haven't had that feeling since SAF left.
 
None of our coaches can identify that bruno shouldn't be playing so high? Also the same coaches that didnt check Lukaku for being Overweight. The culture at our club is very poor.
 
With Ole it just feels like we are papering the cracks. What most are demanding from him now is a title challenge because the squad is good enough for it. But I wouldn't be surprised if we don't come close to the title and then win a cup to paper that crack

One off game is different from watching some problems repeating ton of games.

The dynamics of the team is really bad and we looked pretty unbalanced today.

Considering that we're just coming from a draw against Southampton, it's obvious that a lot of things need to improve if we want to avoid losing shitty points in the long run. We simply can't keep playing like this.

Not a ridiculous comment at all. You thinking that the club could maybe have allocated funds differently this summer is a good example of a constructive comment that can lead to fruitful discussion.

City who lost to fecking Spurs and Liverpool who needed a pen and a red card to get a draw at home?

Just to give some context, Spurs who now sit on the top of the league with 9 points got absolutely battered by Wolves (as we did) with 25 shots to 8, yet Wolves are at 0 points. This early in the season, no one is really match fit and considering we had a international tournament this summer, loads of players, including some key ones for us, have not been training for very long

If we look as shite after the international break, then i'd be worried, but this is not a reason to be. Despite what the table says, Wolves might have been the inform team so far in the season and we just beat them away.
 
After 2,5 seasons you'd expect better than we've seen so far in these few games, with or without a proper DM. Very good against Leeds as they tend to play more open away from home which suits us, pretty meh v Southampton and bad today. Let's see how it goes in September but worrying signs already. I can see club sacking Ole in October/November if things don't go well and it would be perfectly correct decision as we now have team good enough to see nice brand of football + results to follow it.

You can't always get the players in the order you want.

We haven't had a right winger for about a decade, so a young wonderkid English winger we've been after for 2 years made great sense.

Tbf we didn't score from a chance but from a goalkeeper howler. We were better in the 2nd half than the 1st but they still created the better chances in the 2nd. The 1st we all decided to run forward and people forgot that Adama traore is one of the best dribblers in the world I guess? But it still wasn't good, and it still wasn't any sort of team play in the 2nd. It was all pure individualism, and when we were still looking open on the break, we kept throwing on more strikers to grind out a goal. We got the goal but like... it wasn't through a collective team pressure where we kept attacking. It was a goalkeeping mistake!

I was honestly much happier with the Southampton game than this one. Against Southampton we controlled the game but we're a bit toothless, but they also created feck all apart from us shooting ourselves in the foot with a misplaced pass. It wasn't bad coaching, it was just collective sloppiness but we still had more chances, better chances, and didn't give up anything through their own play. Today we created way fewer chances, got bullied all over the pitch, were saved by a Wan Bissaka goal line clearance, De Gea wonder save, Varane being a world class center back (encouraging point), and then a goalkeeper howler.
