Proper professional match against a team who was going for a draw. The way how both our players & manager handle it is spot on today. No sub decision was the right decision when you look at the bench option.

People think we may burnout, but it doesn't look like it. I think the fitness work has been better recently than under previous managers.
Still some injuries and hopeless cases like Phil Jones.
Whatever Ole is part of it he deserves credit since we have not had a full pre season.

i really don't care about the reasons, progress is progress but as you mention it it's proof that with better players we're a better side. Recruitment was poor last summer, hopefully it'll be better this summer and if it is then there should be further progress next season
 
Man United against the current top 6 this season

P9 W4 D5 L0. 5 clean sheets in those games. No other current top 6 side has a higher points per game in those fixtures.
 
Win us something and then end the season well only to see a top manager taking over that can attract world stars. That would be ideal, but not going to happen.
We will probably end in third place and win nothing and he stays with similar next season after a mediocre transfer window as well..
 
I don't think he is the right manager but what I will say is it looks like he will deliver Champions League football for the second season in a row, therefore deserves to receive proper backing from the board but when you look at how little we spent last summer in a season partly hit by COVID I can only see it being significantly reduced again in a full season hit by it.

i’d like to think that bailly, matic, tuanzebe, williams and telles are not untested/academy players.
 
Good performance, all things considered. Controlled the game and restricted them to very little. Think he could have brought off Rashford for Telles based on his ankle. Not sure what other subs though tbh. But this is the first time I’d say that about Ole and his subs. And part of the reason we’re on that situation is probably him overplaying players in the first place. Still boggles my mind that a super sub could be so bad at seeing the value of subs.
 
You guys know what Ole helped Molde win their first ever league title in their history in 2011 and then retain it in 2012?

Yeah, and I hope we will add two more players that will be able to gain us more points next season.
Football is played by players on the pitch, so what's the point ?

I think you may have misread my post. “Looking almost certain now we’ll make the CL places two years in a row for the first time, post SAF.” This statement is correct.

You are perhaps referring to the second season where we made the CL under Mourinho. Qualification the year before was made via winning the Europa League, not through our league position, which was outside the CL places (sixth).

To be honest I thought yesterday’s game followed the same pattern as many other games we’ve had when we’ve dominated possession. I didn’t see much difference between say the Palace game, West Brom game. Very slow buildup play and not many bits of quality in the final third.

I was also impressed by Greenwood. He took the ball on the half turn and was direct which was very good to see. Shaw again looked very good as did Maguire. I thought West Ham were very poor yesterday but if they’d stolen a late equaliser I wouldn’t of said it was a robbery because I just thought we were going through the motions for most of the game.

How can people not realise this? I am not even a results oriented fan. There is a reason coaches/managers always talk about focusing on the performance of the team. Results always revert to the mean.
Imo, we are at the same stage we are in the 17/18 season. I watch this team and wonder how the feck we are second, that's not sustainable. We have experienced it time and time again over the last 7 years. I am at a loss at those who don't see any problem. Just saying we are second doesn't cut it. Until this team has a semblance of a well functioning unit and gives players the platform to consistently perform, we will always struggle.

Most of our squad has essentially played non stop since March 2020, with no holiday and no preseason to speak off. Rashford and Bruno in particular looks absoloutely shattered.

We have been shit a lot of times yes, but we are still second in the league, which means there are 18 teams that have been more shit than us this year. Take the likes of West Ham like we played yesterday, who has the luxury of only focusing on the league and had a full weeks rest ahead of the match compared to our two days

It's amazing how good all the players have became except for Martial and DDG. The club has transformed under Ole. Best squad since post-SAF.
 
Great result yesterday. Can't wait for Thursday. Hopefully many of the missing players (Cavani, Pogba, Martial) will see some game time, and we'll see a comfortable win.
 
Say what you will about Ole (I'm still not convinced he will be able to deliver a league title), but he has achieved genuine stability and built a young side with a lot of potential. At the time Ole arrived, it felt like we could become like Arsenal, yoyo-ing in and out of Europe with no stability. Ole would be the first manager post-SAF to finish top four in two consecutive seasons. Whatever way you slice it, that's progress.

It was a boring game but we saw out the win. Most of our games this year have been very boring. Not much to discuss. I expect similar performances in the next few months.

We're an unadventurous team led by an unadventurous manager.

Or, it's the overall trend of the league in general because we've packed in a full season in 6 less weeks than normal and that unlike every other team we haven't even had the luxury of a single week off all season.

The average of goals scored in the PL has been trending downwards since November and it's only getting worse.

As usual this place makes up narratives based on last 4-5 games and nothing else. All our attackers are out of form and the narrative is that we are an unadventurous/boring team. You do realise that we have the best goal scoring return this season, barring City. Based on objective evidence all managers in this league are unadventurous except for Pep.

Could be. We'll be able to judge better by the end of the season. Most of Oles tenure has been the same which leads to me think this could be intended.
