We need to attack like this more often against 11. Go after teams like this!

I think Oles subs did make some sense. He took off 3 injury prone players and gave others a go.

I just hope I never see a comparison with Ole's and Jose's football again. There's questions to be asked of Ole, but his football is much better than Jose's. Tonight, with Jose, in the exact same circumstances, I would wager we struggle to a drab one or two nil win.

Regardless of today's big win, over the last couple of months I've realized two things:

1. We can play really well even without Bruno playing a major part(he's still our best player, obviously).
2. The players are, overall, over-performing. And that is typically the sign of a good manager.

In a world where Klopp and Pep are unavailable and Mourinho is past it, I'm so happy that Ole is our manager! :D

@rotherham_red

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I’ve produced statistical evidence our football isn’t that much better and that there’s not been a dramatic shift in money spent by either manager. This is the problem when you back a corner and decide on a narrative. You literally believe in it so much you argue against and question actual facts.

But anyway this comment you made kind I found quite astonishing and sums up the anti Mourinho agenda behind the posting.

So now squad rotation and putting young players in and out of the squad is forcing them to compete against each other.
So basically Sir Alex Ferguson spent decades forcing players to compete against each other. I suppose Ole is doing the same now, forcing Fred/Mctominay and Pogba to compete with each other. Forcing Greenwood to compete with Cavani, Martial and Rashford.
I mean this post is just a lot of waffle isn't it? Just digging in to your POV with no consideration of my arguments.

Also, I wonder what today's game did for our GPG? You know, considering you like to dabble in statistical analysis and all :D

Still waiting for your explanation as to why squad rotation of young players is deemed as “forcing players to compete with each other “ when Mourinho does it ?and if this is something you’ve applied with all other Man United managers?
Would be nice if you could explain that comment.

I’ve been whining constantly about wanting more attacking football, tonight is a great step towards that :D

This aged well.

And it was such an obviously untrue thing to say, as well. In almost every single interview I've seen after a win this season, he seems genuinely frustrated that we so rarely punish teams and rack up big scorelines. It might have been fair to criticise him for not improving on this enough, but to claim that he doesn't want us to score lots of goals... :wenger:

Credit where it’s due. The half time reshuffle was ballsy as hell.

I didn't approve of the third sub being made so early, that seemed insane and could easily have backfired. But the half-time subs were absolutely the right choice: two of our most important players, both of whom get through a lot of work and need protecting from burnout. Rashford was the right man to come off later for the same reasons.

And obviously three goals from two of the subs justifies those choices.

Loved this intensity. This is what we need every game. I remember under Jose I used to moan how defensive we became after taking the lead or even winning 4-0. Ole is the most attacking manager we have had since SAF retired.

We would've sat back after taking the lead under Jose, mate.

He's doing well and is exceeding expectations for the current season IMO. Long may it continue..

This is what i want to see from Ole. This type of intensity and drilling it into the players. I dont care if we lose or draw the odd game because we are pushing forwards and get sucker punched, i reckon over the course of a season you will win a lot more games with his mentality then you will lose. Mourinho was too risk averse and not cavalier enough to be a Utd manager.

I love it too.

We need to show this type of attitude, intensity and tempo when it's 11vs11. I think we would have smashed Southampton today even if it was 11vs11.

This is great and all but assume we’re +8 from today so we were actually level with Arsenal before or is this not updated yet?

Also a wider point, they are definitely not accurately recording counters because there’s no way it’s that low across all teams.

Wait, under Jose we scored 4 16 times? Genuinely feels wrong. Must have been Europa ;)

I liked when he was talking about goal difference and said 'we know better than anyone' - referring when we lost the league to City...

He wasn't even at the club then but is a fan and went through the same pain at that time as we did, so still referred to that time as 'we' - stark contrast to Mourinho's post CL exit press conference for example when he started banging on about when he beat us at OT with RM!

Must be at the beginning of the 17/18 season when we played some really good football and been first for a month or so. I remember smashing some teams 4-0/4-1. Other than that honestly can remember when we scored 4 under Jose.

We would park the bus and bore the shit out of everyone and their dog after going up and then concede an equalizer in the 92nd minute.

The fact BT Sport would rather talk about VAR than give Ole credit annoys me. The media in this country has taken such a dismissive attitude towards him. Even when he oversees a record equalling win they can't spend five minutes talking about the progress he's overseen. Let's not forget last season we bored our way to a 1-1 against 10 men at Southampton. The way Ole's taken us forward since then is well worth talking about.
