I loved this game as a nipper. PAPERBOY!

The best game I ever played was Syndicate Wars on the pc. I can´t seem to get it anywhere now. I bought one on Ebay but my laptop and desktop were both far too fast for the game (if that makes sense). I couldn´t play it. Does anyone know where to get it?

I had that running not so long ago, although not very well, on an XP machine. Still got the original disk for that, was great fun, although not as good as the original.

Think it was using dosbox and some help from this site: http://syndicate.lubie.org/

Used to love going round with the persuadatron, with hundreds of people following me round, taking out all the police with my army of civilians...

Just read through the entire thread, can't believe I missed this, some great memories of ancient stuff...

Anyone remember hunter? The scope of this was amazing for it's time

Could use all sorts of vehicles to get from place to place, and the map was enormous.

Crammond, Archer Mac,Bbraben, Braybrook, Crowther, Minter, where did they go?

I don't want to talk about Dave Jones, the cnut!

Not long ago he was heading up Awesome under Ignition, but left for 'unknown reasons'.

It's a long story and one I won't divulge though, since I did have close ties to them and still respect some of the people involved.

Wasn't Minter is here: http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/frontpage.php

What's up with Dave Jones?

Speaking about GTA, I was the other week thinking about how it could have been done on the Amiga, it must have been his target machine when he first had the idea. And I think that I know how it could be done. It would require some serious copperlist work, but...

I think the original certainly could be done. Syndicate was pretty awesome on it, IIRC.

Syndicate was a nice game, but not graphically pushing it. I spent probably weeks trying to get the Amiga to copy Mode 7 of the SNES. I hated Nintendo for it, and I hated Commodore for it (I could go off on an enormous rant over this particular aspect). I've since calmed down. :p

Ahh mode 7, that brings back memories! The Snes was a very nice piece of technology, if a little quirky to work with.

Cheers mate. Will try that.
