It's not really, I just don't see an argument for it. It's a good show though, you should watch it.
I love BB but in all seriousness the wire is far better than it. The "number 1 votes" is telling. A lot of people who have seen the wire have it number one, but far more people have seen BB because of how much it blew up last year.

AD I have seen all of it, but would never consider it one of my favourite shows. Also the last season was awful as was the return recently
I watched all of Spartacus. It was okay in a trashy sort of way. But come...on.
Bryan Cranston is a far better actor that Dominic Cooper (or any other actor who played in The Wire). And Ozymandias is better than any episode on The Wire. And Walter White is a far better character than anyone on The Wire.

I regret putting Game of Thrones in. To see it above Mad Men makes my skin crawl.
The only 'hate' you'll get is from people who have seen both. The Wire is so impressive in so many ways, ground breaking TV as well for huge parts. Of course BB is great, no one is contesting that. Season 4 of The Wire is as close to TV perfection as I've ever seen.
Seconded on season 4 of The Wire. That was alchemic.

Elaborate on what you disagree. I can understand someone saying that The Wire is a better TV show (though for me they are almost equal) and I like Idris Elba, but no chance in hell that he is the half of actor that Bryan Cranston is.

I had Breaking Bad on my list higher than The Wire. At the time of voting I had only seen Seasons one and two of The Wire. I had Breaking Bad in second. Having finished The Wire, season 3 tonight, it would move up on my list. Possibly to third or 4th. Still behind Breaking Bad at the moment. It's possible that by the time I've finished, I will rate the Wire higher, but it's not a definite. I do have Breaking bad as my second favourite show of all time.
