Yup as a batsman its a worthy pick. I'm ready to bet he'll be shoehorned in as a keeper though.
Why not? He has the record number of dismissals?
Edit - that's ODI but still he has decent stats for WK in tests

Sangakarra ? Shocking ?One of the few wicketkeepers in history of test match cricket with a triple century to his name ? Yes, shocking indeed.I'll just say it. Some shocking picks - Anderson? Sangakarra (if he is playing as a WK). AbD if he is playing as a WK
@ChrisNelson how long have you been watching cricket? Your picks have been interesting.
My first match live was in 1994 I think, been a Derbyshire fan all my life and go to a lot of matches, also internationals although not so much the last 5 years or so.
I am familiar with a lot of the players from previous generations but wanted to get in early and snap up one of the great Test batsmen of my lifetime (along with Tendulkar in particular) and possibly England's greatest bowler of them all. My next pick will probably be a bit more retro!
Thoughts on Chesney Hughes?

That explains so much EAP.Ah, feck me. I misread the criteria as DoB 1960 and passed him over. I'm an idiot
Classy pick!

You didn't feel curious that people were picking Imran Khan and all?
