ODI Sheep draft time?

Why did we randomized it once again?
It should be from bottom isn't ?

No, why would the ones in the middle remains stuck in the middle? In any case, 16 teams have now become 8, the original order means nothing now.

Why is the list again randomized ? Harshad has now got top Pick for both rounds.

I asked him.
Yes, I saw that. I just find it a little silly though. I was second to last in the previous round and I am second to last in this round as well. How exactly is that fair ? I remember I suggested this same change in the ODI draft I co-modded with EAP and many people rubbished the idea (Including Varun I think). So just wanted some clarification.

Hmm..wasn't part of the ODI draft, how was it done there?

I remember suggesting that we randomize the draft picks for the final 8, citing the same reasons that Varun did, but it was met with opposition from quite a few (Not Sure if Varun was one of them or not). So EAP in the end decided, we do it in the old fashioned style, i.e. reverse snake drafting.

Even I had the same intentions at first in that draft, to make things more fair for the people in the middle, but it usually screws up the drafting for some person or the other.

Ah I see. Well, I guess Varun got around the objections by presenting us with a fait accompli. I actually thought it would be held in reverse order as well, since we also did that in the NBA draft, but I don't really care enough either way. Can understand it being frustrating for those who are getting near-last picks both times.

Reverse isn't fair for the ones who are in the middle as they get stuck in the worst position in both draws assuming the people eliminated are evenly distributed. In any case, using the draw that was made for 16 people and just reversing it doesn't make sense when only 8 are left anyways.

It gets even worse if the eliminated teams aren't evenly spread. For instance, say 1-8 of the original draw all got eliminated, why should 9 be last in this round? Did he get a great advantage by picking 9th in the first draw? No. You'd rather be 16th than 9th in the 1st round so it actually fecks the 9th guy up both times. How's that the fairest way to do it?

Random leaves it upto chance, which isn't biased towards anyone.

Yeah, that's a good example of when reverse order doesn't make sense. Although I don't really think middle is disadvantaged versus the end? Think what seat is best depends on the sport and format / people's draft preferences etc.

Do all 8 want to go reverse? If it's unanimous, I'll run with it as fair unfair won't matter then.

Ones at the start get to pick the GOATs first round. Ones at the end get to pick a combo to setup their team.

Rules for the reinforcement round:

  • 2 rounds in snake format. 8hrs per pick, starting from whenever harshad picks.
  • Available player pool: Players from the eliminated teams.
  • Draft criterias apply. Minimum of 6 nationalities in the playing 11, maximum of 3 per nation. So draft accordingly.
  • When you pick a player, name the one you are letting go of.
  • You are free to drop a player from country X and pick one from country Y as long as the starting 11 conditions are met. Plan accordingly.
Does the status quo have to be maintained after each drop and pick ? Or is this rule only applicable after the two picks are made ?

There is that, but the advantage of being in the middle is that you can usually grab a decent player once a certain category starts going (WKs, spinners etc). Whereas on the ends you have to plan ahead as a category could be exhausted of quality by the time you get to pick again. Swings and roundabouts for me.

It doesn't have to be maintained. Free to pick any nationality while dropping someone from another nationality. The draft rules only apply to the starting 11. So stock up on any nationality one feels like as long as the starting 1q conditions are met.

Alright, opinions I guess.

Are we continuing like this or will there be a change in pick order?
